Apologies for the review. thank you for your generosity and please do not take the following as written in anger for it is not. We have checked out of this Hunter property one day early. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short due to the conditions in the home were not as described on the VRBO website 1. The home was unclean with dust everywhere and bathrooms were less sanitary than a dormitory- upon arrival. 2. My son before entering his twin bed last night discovered a blood stain mid way down the bed. My wife and female cousin both agreed this looks to have been due to a heavy menstrual flow by a previous guest. As there were no other sheets. He placed 1 of the only 8 towels available over this spot to sleep. 3. Only 8 towels available for a home advertised to sleep 10 4. Every room with a bed had a decorative pillow and only a decorative pillow to lay your head on. Only 1 room in the attic had sheeted pillows. 5. The beds only had a mattress sheet and no other top sheet. We had to sleep with blankets which were covered in pet hair and smelled of mildew 6. Pet hair everywhere. Clothes covered in pet hair as if we were the pet owners and this was from simply sitting on the couches to watch TV. 7. Finally the couches. Upon lifting each of the couch cushions it was evident whomever is cleaning the home for you is not doing so adequately. The couches were filled with food, stains, wet spots, grime. I sincerely apologize but this home was the #1 worst rental we have ever stayed in. It is in dire need of some TLC. Thus we had to cut our trip short because our family was unable to bear through the unpleasant accommodations.
The home comfortably accommodated our family of 5. Plenty to do in and around Hunter Village. Simple check in - check out procedures. Cleanliness leves something to be desired. Full ashtray welcomed us on front porch, pet hair on furniture/blankets, under couch littered with all sorts of stuff, etc...
Great location, heart of the Catskills near many fun things to do. Great back patio to kick back and relax throughout the day and night. Clean interior and lots of sleeping spaces.
Cozy little home, less than a mile from hunter mountain. Group of 8 stayed there. All adults. Communication with the owner was excellent, she was very accommodating which we appreciated. Seems that the property though is managed by a company, not sure what they do, other than collect the payment as the driveway and walks, etc. could have been shoveled better. The home is cozy and has a lot of character. Relatively clean. No dishwasher in kitchen, but has washer and dryer. Kitchen is a decent size but lacks counter space. Kitchen table has room for 8 but kitchen becomes tight when table is pushed out from wall and in use. Kitchen has everything you need (pots, pans, coffeemaker, etc.). A few little quirks to note so you can plan. Hot water heater must be small as it goes through water quick, so plan your showers accordingly. there are not a lot of outlets in the house (exactly one in the queen bedroom which was old and plug barely stayed in the outlet). Charging multiple electronics, running hair dryers, and dryers for ski boots can be an issue. Would have been nice to have a propane grill, charcoal ones available, but we didn't use since we didn't want to wait for the grill to heat up. Kitchen has been updated, new floor, new appliances, etc., bathrooms although functional could use a fresh look. Plan on packing out your trash/recyclables or pay a small fee to have them disposed of after you leave. we took ours with it. Personally I would just roll the garbage fee into the rent and not have the guests deal with it. Great deck out back and large front porch. We would stay there again in the winter, and are thinking about using it during the summer for some of the festivals, but we now know what to expect.
It was everything we need everything thing was explained well
The location was perfect & the house was older but very cozy & clean. We had 4 adults, 1 teenager & 2 dogs. So close to skiing & downtown Hunter & Tannersville.
The house was clean and comfortable.
Welcome to grandmas house. The photos are a bit deceiving— they make the house look nicer than it is. The owner was well communicative and the location is very close to Hunter Mountain. This house is best suited for people staying with a large group on a budget.
Was easy access and easy to communicate with the owner
Working with landlord was easy going. Backyard with fire pit very comfortable. Walking distance to Hunter Mtn., to bad NO JAM! Looking forward to my next stay.
