Three couples came in from Naples, FL, Chicago, IL and Plattsville, ON (Canada). The home is well equipped and did not disappoint. It was nice for each couple to have their own floor.
We were very pleased with our stay. The house is very attractive and all six of us adults were very comfortable and enjoyed our accommodations. The fire pit was a big hit and we enjoyed it every night. The availability to town was fun and we enjoyed visiting and the restaurants. All in all a lovely trip.
We had a fantastic time at Hummingbird Hideaway for the fourth of July. Perfect size for two families of four with small children. About 10 minutes toHighlands and 30 to Cashiers.
Our family enjoyed our stay. Just a few notes: Others mentioned the driveway being very steep. My opinion is that it is not that steep and 3 big cars can park very easily. The kitchen really is state of the art. We appreciated how well stocked, including spices, and that the quality of the cookware was top notch! The beds were very comfortable, and we are very picky about our beds. The fire pit was wonderful and even though they say they don't provide firewood, there was plenty. Wish we would have known, we brought our own. The main level fireplace is wonderful, turns on with a remote. Unfortunately, we could not get the basement fireplace to work, but that was okay because it kept us all together on the main level. Would definately rent again!
We had a fabulous time at this property! It was in a great location and very well stocked with everything we needed. Great communication with the owners- they were top notch.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Hummingbird Hideaway. The kitchen was impressively stocked, the bedrooms spacious and spread throughout the residence, and the 2 porches and large fire pit provided a variety of outdoor views. We will definitely return to this gem. DGP
We had a great family weekend at this property. 8 adults were easily accommodated with plenty of beds, a great kitchen and indoor and outdoor seating. Would stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay at Hummingbird Hideaway! The property was spacious and surrounded by beautiful woods. We especially loved making s'mores by the fantastic fire pit every night. This is a great place for families or a group of friends who want to enjoy a peaceful getaway.
Great short trip to the Hummingbird Hideaway to escape the 100 degree heat. Tidy house was well equipped and conveniently located to Highlands (10ish minutes from town.) We especially enjoyed wine and s'mores around the fire pit each night and some short hikes nearby during the day (Whiteside Mountain trail & Secret Falls.) The property manager, Jonathan, was very helpful with instructions and restaurant recommendations. We'd like to make this trip every summer!
The house is older construction, but is very comfortable, well maintained, and well equipped with amenities (including perfect Wi-Fi) and supplies. The mountain view from the covered porch was delightful and provided some excellent evenings. We did not have much need to communicate with owner Jonathan…but when we did, his responses were prompt and helpful. Only two areas of downside. One was distance…the VRBO site clearly indicated a nearly 3 mile trip to one location in Highlands, that turned out to be almost 6 miles. The extra distance was not really a problem, but it was a disappointment vs our expectations. Second was a narrow and steep gravel driveway and a parking area indicated as good for 3 cars, but which was more than a little tight for our three full size suv’s. Every daytrip plan needed to add a few minutes for jockeying cars. A little early grumbling gave way to learning to deal with the minor hassle because we otherwise enjoyed the house so much. Hummingbird Hideway would be a very good choice for your next visit to Highlands!
The house and location near Highlands were great. Everything was in order and we could not have had a better experience.
