Great place to explore Funchal and surroundings

Hi generally a good place to stay, host was very nice.The property is on a steep hill and found the walk up a problem for me personally, and renters should be aware of this, saying that we got around it with buses and using Bolt.Although did not affect my stay overall I think it is reasonable to have working appliances if you wish to use them. The coffee machine i could not get to work or the tv, There was a TV remote but only one channel was available.The place itself was good great views from balcony but i do feel could do with some improvement, one wall needed painting where patch plastered.

The apartement is convenient, great location, Joao the host is was very kind.

The house was very cozy with two balcony with beautiful view. The owner told us all about the house, where to park, where to go to eat etc.

Responded quickly to any messages sent. Accommodation was basic and clean. It was fine for our stay in Madeira. Balcony view over the town was lovely.

Ideal in every way for us. We had a great holiday.The lower rating for family was given thinking of young children and the stairs could be a problem.All interactions with the owners were helpful, informative and punctual.We cooked and ate in some of the time and there was plenty kitchen equipment for that.

We had a very relaxing stay and our host was fantastic. It was our first visit to Madeira. We loved the balcony view - very picturesque with great views of the town and the sea. There was a fully stocked nespresso machine in the kitchen which was a nice touch and our host was very informative on where to eat and places to see. It was great to have beach towels provided. Overall a lovely stay.

Everything excellent Joao was very patient and was always attentive to the details the house was very well located and very complete with all the amenities

I can recommend this property to everyone, clean, fully equipped, there is everything in this property, I can even say that it is luxurious, very good location and the views from the balconies are indescribable, I recommend it with all my heart.

The hosts were particularly nice and helpful in providing restaurants recommendations. This was much appreciated.

The apartment is well equiped, with good kitchen facilties and bedroom storage.The 2 outside balconies are well furnished and very useful - good place for drying wet things on first, great views from the top. We had diiner there a few times.The area is mostly very quiet, with the exception of the morning peak traffic and the barkiing dogs. The dogs barked at passersby and when we went onto the lower balcony. They also barked a few times at night, disturbing the whole neightbourhood. I'm a very light sleeper, my husband slept through most of it. There are dogs the world over.the location is very good, about 10 minutes walk down to town, very steep coming back up. there is a bus stop just yards from the front door. Parking is OK but avoid school pick up time around 5pm. Joao was very helpful and provided lots of information.A good place to stay.

The location of the property is excellent. Close to many points of interest and an exceptional view from the upper balcony. We stayed for 4 weeks, so the proximity to local cafes and small grocery stores was very helpful. The major shopping area and large grocery store was 15.minutes walk. The hill to the centre of town is steep, but we were prepared for that. Madeira is beautiful and Funchal is a fascinating town to explore. This property was a perfect base for that.

We had a bad experience. Frankly all the positive comments are surprising. The house is in bad condition, it seems like nothing has been done in terms of repairs for a while, even small urgent things. There is a lot of water damage visible on the walls, and signs of mold in some places. The door handle in the bathroom is broken inside, so that it’s impossible to get out when you’re in (unless somebody lets you out). Because of that, there is literally zero privacy. This has been known for a while (see review 02.2024) and nothing was done about it. We let the owner know about this problem as soon as we discovered it, but he said that he is abroad and didn't seem to be very interested to help either. First night of our stay water was leaking on my mom’s head while she was sleeping! I couldn't believe it. We’ve listed just the major things, there are other little things: it is kind of dirty (hasn't been cleaned properly), all the kitchen utensils have old grease on it. The oven is badly positioned (can’t be opened as the fridge is in the way). One comment: we were not expecting the most modern house (the photos are real) and aware that the price is fairly low, but there are basic things that have to be guaranteed: cleanliness, privacy (e.g. being able to close the bathroom door), no mold and definitely roof that doesn't leak when it rains. We don't think that it is too much to ask for. To sum up: we don’t recommend renting the place, unless you want to be disappointed.

We were so positively surprised! The place is great. Close to the city centre and easy to find free parking nearby :)) But the view... We spent so much time just looking at the sea from the top balcony ? Highly recommend:))!!

Our host João was very kind and helpful. The property was very good and was as described in the listing. It included all the facilities that we needed and was located a 10 minute walk away from Central Funchal. All in all it served as a lovely base to explore the rest of Madeira from.
