House T1 + 1 FUNCHAL CENTER

The Host messaged canceling booking but referenced a different property than the one we booked. We finally figured out which property and made alternate plans naturally expecting a full refund. VRBO and/or the host did not refund the payment until we contacted them a month later and had to ask for a refund. We eventually received a partial refund only. The Host is blaming VRBO and vice versa. The Host or VRBO will not communicate with each other and the Host said it's our problem to sort out with VRBO.

When I entered the property I realised that it was far smaller than I had imagined. It was scarcely 3 m at the door going to about 1 m at the lavatory. The only good thing about the whole house was the bedroom. and the veranda. Things that were not satisfactory were, Every evening I saw cockroaches, the loo seat was disgusting, The tap in the kitchen pulled out, the shower was very old and was virtually impossible to control the hot water and the shower base was very damaged and marked, The washing machine was rusty and on it’s the last legs, The staircases were so narrow that it was easy to rub your arms against the wall causing bruising and a rash. On Wednesday night I felt ill with stomach cramps which was not caused by the food i ate because the people I cooked for did not have any Problem . I am still suffering five days later. I believe that this problem was caused by unhygienic conditions in the house. I also have a red rash on my lower arm due to catching it on the wall of the very narrow staircases and dangerous staircases for elderly and for children. The cutlery was worse than picnic cutlery and on cutting a piece of mango the knife broke and the metal collar cut into my finger and caused much bleeding. The reviews seem implausible which influenced me to rent. My wife came on Saturday and before she arrived I booked us into a hotel as I could not allow her to experience such an unhygienic house. This has been the most unsatisfactory rental in my lifetime. I left 2 days early. I would like to hear your response to my comments. At least a 50% return to me is justified. John Chambers

The house was near to the centre and Was clean and spacious. On our arrival at the property we were met by Pedro and his family who went through everything and asked us if we needed anything. On the top floor there is a great roof terrace where the sun shines all day. Obrigada Pedro for your help with the bus from the airport.

Owner very helpful and responded immediately to any request we had. Excellent Location easy walking distance to Funchal Centre and Port.
