This property was amazing. The entire house was new and clean. We loved the decor, rustic and modern. The wall decor with little messages were adorable. The master bed was incredibly comfortable, I did not want to get out of bed. Would love to know where to purchase the sheets, pillows and bed topper. The breathtaking view of the lake made morning coffee and wine nights perfect! We were so impressed with the silverware, classy! We all had a good work out coming back up from the docks just means I need to run more…haha! We would definitely recommend this house! Thank you for sharing your home with us!
It would have been easier going up and down the steps if it were all steps. The stones made your footing unstable.
Our family stayed here for a week in June/July 2021. We really enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen (silverware, plates, etc.), free use of kayaks, an available boathouse on the dock, fire pit, and location on the lake (especially the final night when we were delighted by fireworks directly across the lake for 4th of July weekend!). The owners have installed steps down to the dock which fixed many previous complaints about the steep hill. It is a lot of steps but worth it for the location and view! Our only minor criticisms: We felt as though the house could have been cleaner. The tables were dusty, the floors left our feet dirty and there was definitely a roach/beetle/spider problem downstairs. Also, there are no blinds on any of the lake-facing windows. I can see the intentions of the owner as this house has an amazing view of the lake, however, when trying to eat dinner as the sun is cresting the lake, we were blinded and had to hang towels to cover the windows while we ate. Overall we greatly enjoyed our time here and would absolutely stay here again as well as recommend the house to friends and family.
Everything was great about the stay. Would rather have a lockbox situation for the key but that's a very minor issue.
We really enjoyed staying here. The house is well maintained, clean and well stocked. The views of the lake are amazing. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. We would stay here again.
We were informed that the property had a scheduled power outage for one of the days we paid to be at the property while we were staying at the property. The owners knew it was going to take place and still rented out the property. We had no electricity or water to drink/shower. The property was not cleaned when we arrived, the surfaces/floors were covered in dog hair and dirt. The linens were in a large bag and we had to put the bed linens on all of the beds. No trash service so you have to drive your trash to a dumpster. This was not a relaxing weekend and I do not recommend this home for a nice Lake Anna getaway.
We had a good time in the house really nice house
We stayed this week at house on the hill. The house was nice and we had a great time there. There is only one reason I wouldn’t stay again - THE HILL. All of the houses surrounding this house, have stairs going from house to dock/boat house. House on the Hill does not - it’s gravel all the way down. We nearly slipped a few times going down and coming back up was quite the workout with a toddler in tow. As the week went on the gravel shifted around from us going up and down a lot - which made it all the more difficult not to slip going down and harder to get a grip going up. Otherwise, the house was very nice and they have a beautiful dock/boat house.
This was a last minute rental and our first time at Lake Anna. House on the Hill was wonderful. Really well appointed house, wonderful layout, plenty of room for people and great tools in the kitchen (I’ve stayed many places with crappy utensils, appliances, etc... not here)! Attention to detail was clearly thought through. Walls are a bit thin but nothing you can’t manage. I think we were one of the first to stay here... my only word of caution is that it is truly on a **steep** hill, and while there is a gravel path down we had more than one wipeout carrying items down to the dock. Hopefully they will build out the stairs a bit more so that it is more accessible. All in all it was a delightful place and we would definitely recommend and go back!
Can’t wait to come back!
