Santa Fe, New Mexico
Nestled among two acres of pinons, at the foot of the sacred Sun Mountain, your home awaits you. Sunrises and Sunsets greet you daily. Please note that though the house sits on 2 acres there is a guesthouse next door. The only space you share with residents of the guesthouse are the driveways.
At Maddie's Place, Sun Mountain is right out your back door. It is 30 minute easy hike to the summit. One mile away is Museum Hill and the botanical gardens. Just a few blocks from there are art galleries, restaurants, and the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Georgia spent her final years just a couple blocks from your Sun Mountain abode, and you'll understand why. It is the perfect place to watch the skies change across the horizon from Sandia Mountains, the Jemez Mountains, to the Colorado border.
Step out on to your patio, grill some salmon, and enjoy a glass of wine while the last of the light lingers on your private portal. There is an additional queen bed outside for use during the summer if you feel like sleeping there, or curl up with a book, or simply watch the birds drink from the koi pond. The sunsets are spectacular. Enjoy the sounds of coyotes as the lights begin to twinkle before you.
The perfect retreat after the days activities, your home at Sun Mountain will beckon you to return.
*Please note that in the winter, this home sleeps only 4 people as the outdoor queen size bed is only able to be used in the summer (hence sleeps 6 people in the summer)
Pets are indeed welcome! There is a $100 USD pet fee x pet x stay.

Nice place!
We loved the view and the outdoor bed. Indoor ones were comfortable. The house and property are very kitschy. We were taken aback at the messiness of the front area and the muddy driveway, though. Itโs older than it appears in the photos. But we had fun and enjoyed our time here.
This property is in a great location...within 10 minutes of the Plaza and even closer to Canyon Road...but it feels very private....plus it has great views, hummingbirds and 2 koi ponds. We enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets as well as feeding the fish and watching the birds. There was an issue with the hot tub but George and Nancy were quick to respond and took appropriate action. We would stay there again if we are fortunate enough to visit Santa Fe again.
This home is enchanting . I love it all: the birds, the flowers, the art work, the love and connoisseur-ship ! Everything has been so tenderly and beautifully designed! I kept seeing art that I had never seen before.
Lived the kitchen, and especially the outdoor bed. Our dogs loved it too
My wife and I have owned several rental and home sharing properties. We also stay at home sharing properties when we travel. We have nothing but 5 star ratings on the home sharing sites. Our experience with this house was so bad that for the first time ever we are filing a complaint with VRBO. Yes the views are incredible and there is a ton of artwork around the house. However, the house was dirty and smelled of musty mothballs. As others said, there is clutter everywhere; every drawer and shelf is stuffed to the brim with junk. Old spices, kitchen gadgets jammed into every drawer making the kitchen very difficult to use. We used the dishwasher once and then it produced an error code and would not work. The owners first blamed the prior guests but then when I complained that we would have to handwash dishes for 2.5 weeks they blamed us. And you have to wash the dishes by hand right away because there are ants everywhere. If you leave a dish out for a few minutes, it is crawling with ants. I mentioned this to the owners as well and they brushed it off. These types of issues continued during our whole trip. The hot tub was dirty with green-hued water when we got there - a complaint others have had. The host said a cleaning guy would come by once a week to clean it. He never showed up during our 3 weeks and we never used the hot tub. Unbelievably, after we left the owners blamed us for breaking the hot tub. The pipes are old and sensitive and need a major upgrade. When you use the washing machine, the toilet in the guest room where the washer is located wonโt flush and soap bubbles up. The worst part is how the owners responded - tried to blame us at every turn despite this house being neglected for years. I have never been treated so poorly by a host. I have saved our entire communication thread and am happy to share it with anyone who is thinking of renting this property. Bottom line is that if you are there for a night it is probably ok. But if you at all need to rely on the infrastructure of the house working or expect to deal with normal, accommodating and understanding owners, run away from this listing as fast as possible.
The views and sunsets from this property are absolutely outstanding. The house was as described. Loved the artwork throughout the house and enjoyed the sense of calmness the property provided.
Great house for a family getaway. Beautiful views, nice kitchen, and attentive property owners.
The house was amazing! A few min away from downtown but the backyard patio and hot tub with a view was the best part of the entire trip. My kids had the best time in the hot tub, this will be a core memory for them (ages 3 and 4). The house was awesome too: everything youโd could need for cooking with a luxury range as well, beds and bathrooms were very nice, and each room has an automatic gas fireplace. The owners must either be artists themselves or just avid collectors., or both. The house is filled with so many pieces you would need hours just to comprehend it all, super eclectic and cool. The bed outside was a great spot for afternoon nap but too cold for over night in March. Overall, we had an amazing week at the house and would happily stay there again.
We had such a good time here, with amazing views that I couldnโt help but photograph many times a day! The hot tub was wonderful, the master bedroom is very private, and my 2 teens were able to have their own space with one sleeping on a twin size daybed in the living room. The house is very well stocked with kitchen supplies. The washer and dryer were great. I love the thermostat controlled gas fireplaces in every room! I had never experienced that. The house stayed very warm. Very short drive to town. The covered parking was nice to have when it snowed! We would love to return.
