The 3rd fl bedrooms have high ceilings and 3 sky lights and feel less Victorian in case you have friends or family who want to be in a more modern area. There is a family room on the 3rd fl with flat screen smart TV. The 2 fl Master has authentic design Victorian Bradbury & Bradbury wall paper complete with a romantic yet comfortable brass bed and gold leaf high boy. -note-there are 2 units on this property. Each has 5 bedrooms. Each is 3500 sq ft. Completely separate. Thick walls so you would never even notice if someone was staying next door. Perfect for bridal groups where the grooms family can stay on one side and the brides on the other side. Depending on availability you could be booked into either the west of east unit and would know ahead of time. This is a no-smoking home and we are not 420 friendly. Pls smoke outside. Note: though we can accomodate up to 10 our basic nightly rate covers the first 4 guests. If you have more than 4 people its 50/per night per person more. Vrbo will charge based on the number of overnight guests and you can see that charge before booking. This keeps it fair for everyone. A smaller group shouldnt have to pay the same price as a large group. Convenient parking for two cars in the driveway. Any extra cars can park on the street in front of the house.
We absolutely loved our stay. Upon looking for a place, we almost didn't book here based on some ratings, but I'm so glad we did. Susan is wonderful host. Read the property descriptions carefully, as they are thoughtful and accurate and will set the right expectation for your stay. It's an amazing house. It's also more than 120 years old. Everything is in good working order and safe. (The basement bathroom was very recently re-painted.) Everything is also vintage. So the floors are a bit creaky and the doors can be a little sticky. (If I was 120 years old, I would be too.) It's all beautiful and authentic. The neighborhood is a great area. Parking was easy. It's a fun area of town to stay in. Lots of fun restaurants, bars and hangout spaces. (Many walk-able.) There's a Y one block away if you need a gym. You're not quite a mile away from an amazing park right on Lake Erie. We had no concerns at all about the safety. You can be at the airport or downtown in 20-min or less. (University Circle is an easy drive, and just a bit further.) We were door to door to the Rock and Roll HoF lobby in 19-min. We took the light transit downtown for a Cavs game. Quick and easy. (And affordable.) We loved this house that for more than 120-years, provided a home to real people living real lives and raising real families. It was a privilege spending time and getting to know the house. Go in with the right expectations, and you'll love your stay too. Thanks Susan! You officially rock!
We came to town for a wedding in Lakewood. This house was super easy to get to everything we needed - including the wedding, Lake Erie, shopping, and some activities to keep the teens entertained. The house is super clean and still has the fun quirks of an old Victorian. Susan is easily the most easily accessible and gracious host I’ve ever had the privilege of renting from.
Would def return as my friends loved the furnishings. Super clean. The 2 claw foot tubs each with a shower over them were great. Having that extra half bath on the 1st floor was a bonus. One of our friends had recent knee surgery & the host already had a shower chair as well as sturdy stairs next to the cast iron tub to be able to maneuver. Great water pressure. Accommodating host. I personally enjoyed the tall ceilings with skylights in my 3rd Fl bedroom. We had enough room to all stretch out. Window AC units worked great. Beaches on Lake Erie are nearby. I'm a workout buff and the Lakewood Y is a new building with top of the line equipment & an Olympic Pool only 7 min walk away. Listened to the host suggestions and saw a Great Lake Erie Sunset from Lakewood Parks Solstice Steps. As a hosp administrator I felt Uber comfortable & appreciative of modern touches like usb ports for cell phones. We were pleasantly surprised that the antique Jacobean dining table leaves easily expanded to accommodate our fun potluck dinner. Will return in the fall to see the fall leaves in the Metroparks along Rocky River.
Lot of potential with location, character of old home and size, but some definite shortcomings. Major problem is bathroom situation, neither bathroom is senior friendly with need to step into tall tub without any handles. Basement bathroom is really poor condition, need to spend some money and upgrade! Lastly needs a deep clean…
The house could be charming. But the dilapidated bathrooms fixed and uncleanliness are hard to overlook. Tiles taped to the wall in the upstairs bath and a basement bathroom that was dirty are not charming or trendy features. The kitchen was unorganized and the towel closet on the second floor looked like everything was just stuffed in. I do not recommend this home. For the cost, I expected much more.
Needs comfortable Beautiful home and gardens
Working with the owner was awesome. I would stay there again.
The location was perfect and house was the perfect size for my family. But that wasn’t the best part. The owner was amazing. Very responsive and she even sent us pancakes from the highest rated restaurant for breakfast. When you stay here you must read the story about the house. She includes it in the manual. It’s very interesting. Overall, we had an excellent experience and will be staying here again the next time we visit Cleveland.
Susan was a terrific host. Very hospitable and welcoming. House is in a great neighborhood, close to downtown and airport. House was roomy and clean, exactly what we were looking for !
Love the location, the owner was very attentive to any of our special needs. Entry step back in time and this lovely Victorian home.
All of us enjoyed this 122 yr old home. Loved the attention to detail and a balance of comfortable modern conveniences yet the craftsmanship of Victorian antiques. The Jacobean dining room table pulls out on each end to seat everyone. Loved the front porch swing and the back deck overlooking the tree lined yard. Two claw foot tubs with showers over the top made my partner happy because we prefer tub baths . I love to cook and the kitchen was stocked with plenty of pots and pans. Gas stove Yay! The owner said we should go to the designer chocolate store a half mile walk away. Sweet Designs it was a wow
