Stayed Jul 19, 2025Would stay here again! The views were fabulous. The linens and towels were great. Extremely comfy beds. Awesome hot water & pressure. Close to the small town of Ennis where you can go for groceries, a quick meal, or some great fishing. I would recommend this house all day long!!!

Stayed Jul 6, 2024We had seven people in our party and we stayed for eight days with plenty of room. The kitchen was a bit small and the fold out beds were well, fold out beds. But other than that, it’s an amazing location right on the river with plenty of fishing to be done out the back door.

Stayed Jun 20, 2021Our party of 3 enjoyed our stay during June 2021 at the Thextondale. It is exactly as advertised, a gracious 2 story stone house with 1 bedroom/bath downstairs and two beds / baths upstairs. The views of and around the property are beautiful. Antelope and deer materialize in the evening to graze the pastures surrounding the property. We enjoyed sitting on the cabin porch overlooking Blaine Creek and birdwatching, including owls and ospreys. The trail down to fishing was loose and rocky and a senior in our party had some difficulty with it and it could use a little touch up work. The lower rating is because of mice. A mouse scurried under the refrigerator as we walked in for the first time, and there was a trap box in the kitchen so it is a known problem. There was evidence of mice on the kitchen counters every morning, as well as in the downstairs bathroom & bedroom. We didn't leave food out or leave doors open (there is a sign not to leave the doors open on account of the field mice). We are sympathetic to the fact it's an old country home surrounded by fields, but for an expensive vacation rental the mouse issue should be addressed.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We rented this house at first simply because it was only a few miles from our son and family. Turned out to be much better than expected. We come to the area 2-3 times a year and love the Madison River area. This is not your ordinary rental on the Madison River.Wonderful Historic House in a beautiful setting with 360 degree views. Lots of safe flat lawn area for our grand children to play. Interesting walk down to the creek that flows to and from the Madison. Great fishing. Owners went extra mile with books, videos, brochures, as well as information on the property itself. Old style bath fixtures in bathrooms with high water pressure with steaming hot water. Easy drive to Ennis. House sits inside Ranch which gives rural feel in addition to vacation home feel with access to Madison. Best of both worlds. Good Wi Fi and cell service. Coming back in summer to enjoy the restored cabin and eating area alongside. Everything was just right.
