“The 1892 Hanscom Park Home” is a Victorian Queen Ann style designed by George Hicks who is credited with developing the Hanscom Park neighborhood in the late 1890’s. The home is designated as an Historical Landmark in Omaha, NE. This home was originally built as a model home for the neighborhood with every upgrade available at the time, likely for the upper middle class. Constructed of wood with an ornate exterior consisting of a steep gabled roof with turrets, highly decorative woodwork, details and colorful paint similar to the current paint scheme, with a large covered front porch and columns constitute the exterior of this amazing home.
The interior is just as ornate and includes an entry vestibule, foyer with wood burning fireplace, parlor/living room with a converted electric fireplace, and library, separated from the den, dining, and kitchen area by 10-foot pocket doors. The updated kitchen has an island and beverage fridge, gas range with decorative hood and pot filler faucet, Corian counter tops, a ½ bath and second staircase on the main floor leading up to the maid’s/servants’ quarters with a full bed. There is a nursery, (now a bedroom with twin trundle bed) attached to the large master bedroom with a king bed, and another extremely spacious bedroom (Queen room) with a queen bed on the second floor along with a 2nd floor laundry room. The base boards, grand staircase and doors are all ornate and custom made. Each door was built on site for the specific opening. The windows are tall and generous in varying sizes throughout the home allowing for sun-soaked rooms with stain-glass and lead glass accents.
Beautiful handmade fretwork up the main staircase, intricate crown molding, stained glass windows, functional wood burning fireplace, maid/servant staircase, massive bedrooms, balcony off master bedroom, original 10-foot-high pocket doors and clawfoot tub and 12 ft ceilings on the main floor! Modern updates include spacious kitchen with an island, five new chandeliers replacing combined gas and electric lights and “gaseliers” which were high tech at the time allowing for both a gas flame light and an electric light on the same fixture. At the time (1892), electricity was new and home builders did not fully trust electricity. According to a light fixture catalog, “By 1891 a revolution was underway, ELECTRICITY! Gas and electric chandeliers were created with Gas arms face UP; electric DOWN”. The home also includes high end wallpaper and ornate ceiling treatments, custom draperies and new luxurious beds and bedding in each bedroom.
This late 19th century gorgeously updated home has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 12-foot ceilings, crystal chandeliers and ornate woodwork with more grace, charm, and history than you can imagine as your mind falls back into time as you pass through each room. It includes 2,168 sq.ft. of finished square feet above ground, an unfinished basement and attic.

Well-appointed, roomy, charming home! We loved staying here and will definitely be back. Such a beautiful, historic home with all the modern amenities. Host was very attentive to our needs. Highly recommend!
Property is in a great location and easy to get to most locations from there. Neighborhood was quite and the house was a great place to stay. The kitchen was a popular place for us to hang out as was the front room. We’ll look to stay there in the future!
Property manager was excellent. Our large group inadvertently blew a fuse. Within the hour the manager had fixed the issue. The neighborhood was pleasant, and we travelled with two dogs. Very walkable with a park and dog park within walking distance. Sidewalks everywhere. We walked to the Mercadito and International Bakery for treats. VERY clean.
Wow, this place is absolutely stunning! I can't wait to come back and stay here again, but next time in the summer or spring. The way they've restored this historic home is truly remarkable, giving it a modern twist while still preserving its classic charm. My family and I had a blast exploring the original design features of the house, which were beautifully complemented by the renovated interior. It's not just a place to crash, it's a place that creates lasting memories and redefines the way you travel. As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by tall doorways and charming wooden accents that transport you back in time. But don't worry, they haven't forgotten about the modern amenities we all love. We had an amazing group dinner in the spacious dining room, which felt like a grand feast fit for royalty. And the best part? This place is located right near the heart of downtown, making it the perfect base for exploring all the wonders Omaha has to offer. You can tell that this space was designed with large groups in mind. It's professionally crafted and beautifully decorated, with a contemporary color palette that brings a fresh and vibrant energy to every room. I can't wait to come back and fully enjoy the garden level patio, where I can relax and dine in style. Oh, and did I mention the entertainment options? There are large TVs scattered throughout the house, perfect for cozy movie nights. And the decorative built-in bookshelves and fireplaces add a touch of elegance.
This beautiful restored home was perfect for my family gathering! Gorgeous home, yet still very comfortable. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and have their own space. Office nook was great to work from home. The kitchen was amazing, well stocked and everything you need to prepare meals. The beds were very comfortable. Enjoyed sitting on the front porch and having a fenced in backyard for our dog. Can't wait to return to this lovely home.
I liked the old style of the house and intricate features inside. There was also a nice little backyard area to hang out on a nice hot day. However, the property was not clean. We found multiple hairs in the bed and bathroom, the window coverings were filthy, and the fridge was gross and clearly hadn't been cleaned. The owner was unpleasant as well. I apparently forgot to pay the pet fee, which I was told of when the owner must have watched us through her cameras and saw my dogs. That was creepy in itself, but then she was fairly rude in demanding payment. However, I immediately made the payment she requested. A day later, she demanded a second pet fee be paid. At that point, I objected because her site only listed one pet fee, not a fee per-dog as she was claiming and I had already paid her the initial pet fee she demanded. She was clearly unhappy with that, but that is exactly what her site said. We ended up leaving a day early, so we paid for an entire extra day than we booked. The cleanliness and owner issues are unfortunate because this could be a nice place to stay. But with those issues, I would recommend finding a better place.
Elegance, history and charm all under one roof. ALL the modern comforts in an exquisitely restored historical home. Walking distance from a GREAT coffee shop, a short UBER ride to all the things we wanted to do! Will absolutely book this gem again!
Very good location for everything. Plenty of room for everyone. It is a historic home with lots of detail. Great for a family.
Great home to relax and visit with friends and family. Stairs are very steep which may be a problem for some, but not for any of us.
Pictures accurately show the beautiful home with modern updates, yet still keeping the historic character. Comfortable beds, very clean, with all the kitchen, bath and bedding supplies you need. Clawfoot tub/ shower in one bath plus newly updated shower in second full bath. Barbecue and quiet back patio. Loved staying here and hope to return on our next Omaha visit.
This home delivers a true traditional Omaha feel. Compliments to the people that renovated the house. It was beautiful and fun to stay in. Quick drive to downtown. The house should come with a maid ? haha. The Maid's room with its private stairwell was really unique. A fun hide and seek house for kids.
Beautiful house, very clean, well equipped. Had my sons wedding a small family get together. Perfect venue. Will definitely be booking again.
I highly recommend this property. We found it to be clean, well maintained, well equipped and has great architectural details.
The house was perfectly decorated and had so much character! Kitchen was well stocked and house was very clean. Owner was quick to respond. Would definitely book the next time we are back in Omaha.
Gorgeous home close to everything!
Love these old houses. It was restored so well. We were very happy.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful property. Perfect for our family with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. The location is perfect - only a couple of miles from the Old Market and a couple of miles from Mid Town. The home had everything we needed for an extended stay. The kitchen has been renovated with modern appliances which makes meal prep easy. Working with the owner was wonderful. Very responsive from our initial booking all the way through departure. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a stay in a quiet wonderful neighborhood close to everything in Omaha!
