Sonora, California
This house is close to town, yet secluded on a gated private road. It is on a hilltop with all-around views, only one hour from Yosemite. You will be close to town, but feel like you are in the country.
The kitchen was recently renovated with oak flooring and cabinets, granite counters and stainless appliances. It has a large seating island as well as a breakfast nook. The dining room, entry, hall and sunroom floors are oak; the bedrooms are carpeted.
The home is spacious with lots of windows overlooking the historic town of Sonora and the Sierras in the distance. The back deck is a favorite gathering spot. There is also a small deck off the sunroom and a covered tile front porch. Many animals are in the vicinity: quail, wild turkeys, donkeys, horses, and cows to name a few.
There is a laundry room with a halfbath; three of the bedrooms each have their own bathroom. The fourth bedroom, accessed through two other bedrooms, doubles as a sunroom, with windows on three sides.
We are 3 hours from San Francisco, 10 minutes from Columbia State Historic Park, 5 minutes from Railtown 1897. There is a variety of recreational opportunities nearby; Pinecrest Lake, Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, Kennedy Meadows Pack Station; Aspen Meadows Pack Station, Black Oak Casino, Chicken Ranch Casino, the town of Murphys, Ironstone Vineyards, Melones Reservoir, Don Pedro Reservoir, Lyons Reservoir, Columbia Community College, Stanislaus River, Tuolumne River, and the stunning Sonora Pass on Highway 108.
The house is on one level; below is a garage, toolroom, and separate apartment.
This was a very cool house with a beautiful view. Loved it
There is a tenant below the main house who was not there the week-end we came, but that was pure chance as we like our privacy. Other than that this was exactly what we had hoped for and the host-owner Marianne was wonderful Would gladly stay again if in the area.
We really loved kitchen for cooking, enjoyed for views, comfortable the living room and bedrooms. We enjoyed some playing games, nicely walking and relaxing with our families and friends. We will like to go back again.
The view was amazing, children feed the donkeys (so bring apples)
Lovely property. Had a wonderful time.
Between the outstanding views, cute donkeys and the wild turkeys this place was a feast for the eyes. The decor is outdated but extremely pristine and very clean. There is someone that lives below the house but we never saw them. Had a ton of kitchen supplies and bathroom products. Super cute place.
The house and location was amazing. There is a tenant in the apartment below so that was a little unexpected, but no issues. The donkeys were an added bonus! Had a wonderful time and will be booking again.
This house is really an amazing place to stay. There are 360 degree views, it is quiet, secluded and beautiful. The hosts are the best and the two times we have stayed here they have gone out of their way to make our stay nice. We will be back for sure.
This was the most awesome place we have ever stayed. Everything was clean, the kitchen was very complete and we wanted for nothing except our food. Being on a mountain top we loved the views and the outside decking all around the home. Feeding the donkeys was a special treat and the wild turkeys were fun to watch. Being cat people we loved the sweet outdoor kitty. The beds were all comfortable and all the linens (sheets and towels) seemed like new. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful and seeing the lights light up Sonora at night was so pretty. We would come back to Sonora just to stay here. Our host Marianne was always available if we needed something. If I could give her a 10 star, I would. Thank you for an awesome weekend!
This home would be perfect for a family gathering around any holiday. Very close to the shopping on the Main Street in historic Sonora…great golf course a few minutes away and only a few minutes from major shopping. The house is nestled on top of a hill secluded from the outside world. Perfect spot!
