High Windy is a Ridge-Top Nature Retreat Minutes from Asheville (pet friendly)

The house was very spacious and well built and very functional. The host was very responsive and quick to answer questions and gave a great list of things to do and places to eat! 15 minutes from Biltmore and really central to the sightseeing and hiking. There are tons on trails for all levels of health! Drive up to house was pretty steep but it is paved all the way to the house. If we go back we would stay here again!

We really enjoyed the stay. Clean, and well stocked with all the kitchen equipment needed. We so enjoyed the time spent !

The house was larger than it appears in the photos. The kitchen is well stocked and the king bed is super comfortable. No complaints!

Lovely property, clean, well stocked and accessible to many things. 13 minutes to Bilmore. Yard was excellent for pets and completely enclosed and secure. Owners are very nice and close if you do have problems arise. Would definitely recommend and will be back if we need a place to stay in the area again.

We had a wonderful stay at the High Windy! House was clean, close to everything we wanted to do, and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Rodney the host was very friendly and responsive to all my inquiries. My dogs had a wonderful time on the back patio and yard. The only thing I was nervous about was the road to get up to the house is very steep and small, however that is probably because we are from FL and not used to driving up in a mountain. We would definitely stay at the High Windy again! Thanks so much for the wonderful stay!

The place was amazing. Beautiful views that made you feel like you were staying in a tree house. Kitchen with everything you needed and incredibly comfortable bed. Well maintained steep road leading to house could not imagine driving this in snow. Will definitely return

Everything exceeded our expectations. Comfortable, clean, bright, well lit, beautiful, and the dog yard was perfect. I live along the SC coast and hope to return to High Windy next year. My Colorado cousin loved it too.

We had an amazing stay! The home was perfect. Loved having 2 levels with great accommodations. Beyond comfortable. The area was great. The home is on a small mountain with gorgeous views. Plenty to do in the area and just down the road from the Blue Ridge Parkway and great hikes. We will definitely be booking again soon! Hosts were so lovely and communicated with us when we needed them.

Absolutely a 10/10. The pictures just don’t do this home justice. We had a very relaxing 4 day retreat here. The property is close to everything while giving you a very secluded feeling. We were surprised at the size of the home as well, much larger than anticipated. The hosts were very accommodating and responsive. We’ll be staying again for sure!

Very clean, updated house in a small neighborhood with beautiful wooded views

So inviting & comfortable. We spent most of the time on the covered (deck) porch with ceiling fans in the butterfly forest. Adorable home with high-end finishes. The pics don’t do it justice. So close to town, yet far enough away. 4 stars

This house is perfect. Not too big or too small. It is secluded with an amazing back porch. Even with temperatures in the 90’s the temperature stayed 75 on the porch. Amazing views of the mountains and we saw bears from the porch everyday. We had everything we needed and the host is great. We will be coming back in the winter and falls months.

Everything was easy, and everything was new or worked perfectly.

We loved our stay at High Windy! Very nice house in a secluded area, but still close to everything. The kitchen had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The porches were the BEST for relaxing and visiting with family. We would definitely stay here again!

I cannot believe how nice this place was. The pictures do not do justice at all. Everything is clean and new. Love the couch-it’s like AMC seats! It’s very close to downtown. I would love to stay again in the future.

Charming, private cabin on a mountainside yet close to local attractions. We were greeted by wood thrush song and a bear sighting! The high back porch was the perfect spot for coffee, birdwatching, or a good book. Comfy bed, separate lower level we didn’t use also has outdoor access. Great spot!

Clean stay, great communication from owner. Easy to get to property, yet still had a feeling of away from it all. Wish the fire pit was more useable, but overall an excellent experience!

Rental was just what we were looking for. We DO NOT have pets and this was a great rental.

We loved the house. Very spacious and beds were comfortable. Owner was great with communication. Location was scenic and very convenient.

It was nice and cozy. It had everything we needed to accommodate our needs. It was human hair and dog hair in certain parts of the house. The owners communicated well. The biggest complaint we had was, no streetlights, and only one car up or down the road at one time. Overall, it was relaxing and we enjoyed it.

We explored Asheville, the food and art scene. The house was within an easy 15 minute drive to downtown, so very convenient. Our host was very accommodating.

Just what we were looking for. Quiet and in the woods, but very convenient to get to Asheville or Black Mountain. Comfortable and spacious, and we only used the upper floor. The kitchen is awesome. Great communication from Rodney answering questions I had. It pains me to give 5 stars only because I can't give 6. Will definitely be back.

We’ve been renting vacation homes for 40 years. This was hands down the cleanest!Also, this was the first time I didn’t regret not bringing my own knives. A nice selection of sharp knives and a knife sharpener are almost unheard of in rental properties. Additionally, the bedding was comfortable, the water was super hot, the covered deck was private, and the fenced backyard provided a worry-free place for our dogs to hang.The location is secluded enough that we sited a bear and wild turkey, yet it only minutes to a grocery store. True, the road is a bit rough, but it’s short, and post Helene, at least it’s very passable.Highly recommend this home!

High Windy isn’t a clever name .. it is indeed high and windy! Both of those make for a terrific stay in the NC Mountains. It was a perfect location to explore points east and west and enjoy nature and clean air. We’ll certainly be back.

We loved our first stay. Upgrade to the main bedroom was a plus for this stay. For families with pets, the fenced-in yard is great. For us, the vista is memorable, and so glad the hosts share this house with us.

This house had everything, and it was clean and super-comfortable! Upstairs you have a modern kitchen, living room with reclining sofa, bedroom with king bed, walk-in closet with washer and dryer, and bathroom with shower. Downstairs is similar, but with a smaller kitchen and tub/shower. A wrap-around deck provides gorgeous views.

The property is perfectly located for things to do in the Ashville area. House is really nice and well kept. My amazement of using touch lamps again took me back to when I was a kid. Has a really nice view looking over the valley with a large back porch. Just be prepared for the ride up the side of the mountain to get to the house. I found it to be exciting and really lets you know you are staying in the mountains. You will love this place if you are wondering to book or not.

Absolutely love this place. Family loved it and fit us perfect! We have a new family getaway!! Very quiet and serene with awesome views of the Blue Ridge. I would see this as a seasonal getaway…meaning any season would be great!

Property and house were really nice! Enjoyed the fenced in back for the dogs. House was very clean and stocked with most things we needed! It was just what we needed for a fun getaway with family!

Our stay was wonderful. The home was clean and very nice. Perfect accomodations for 2 couples with the separate space downstairs. The only thing I would change is more seating space in the living room. Overall 10 out of 10.

I was there for a wedding, with my mother that is 90 years old. The house is beautiful, but the terrain and getting around was completely difficult for us. Then we knew the hurricane Helene was coming through, and the day that we got to the property within one hour. I called them to cancel, everything. I knew that it was not going to be some thing that we could handle, the driveway was extremely small and I have And all wheel drive vehicle and spun my tires just trying to get up the mountain. I was extremely dissatisfied with the description of the property, and the fact that they would not even work with me for a refund. Even after we called the first hour we were there.

The house is incredibly clean, communication with the owner was perfect, and proximity to Asheville was fantastic!

The property and location are just as described and we loved feeling like we were secluded in the woods but close to town and lots of things to do. We went to two breweries, took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, saw several waterfalls. We also enjoyed watching the bears eating acorns while we sat on the deck. It was also a great space for our dog with the fenced yard and decks. Would definitely stay here again if we get back to the area!

The hosts were respondive if I had questions. The house was exactly how it was described. It was exactly what I was looking for with my family and dog.

Place was perfect for us. Kitchen appliances new and well stocked in the way of dishes, glassware, etc. Upstairs bedroom/bath and kitchen/living area with TV. Downstairs bedroom/bath and kitchenette. I can see using the downstairs for a 2nd couple/friend/child/parent ... Wonderful back porch overlooking small, fenced yard. The road (driveway of sorts) needs a little work but we made it just fine. Wonderful communication with owners - they didn't bother us at all but replied to messages quickly. We're already talking about a return trip-

House was quite nice. Everything new and in good order. Exactly what we wanted. But … the road up the mountain is dangerous. It is in poor repair, narrow, unlit, and without guardrails. We went to lengths to avoid driving it at night or in the rain. It is not the owner’s responsibility, but a distinct drawback

I can’t say enough about the property and the hosts. We were there a month, and I could have stayed another 30 days. The back deck is so peaceful…birds, butterflies, deer, and an occasional bear. Had doggies with us, and the fenced in yard is in perfect shape. Kitchen is spacious, and bedrooms and baths are well laid out as well. It’s 3 minutes down the mountain and 15 min to Black Mountain or downtown Asheville. I really hope we have the opportunity to return.
