Helena House: Close to Plum Cove Beach

House was great, location easy only problem is the showered doesn’t drain.

Perfect rental for a short weekend trip with the family

We booked this home because we were not able to be together on Christmas because of covid travel causing delays. We were able to celebrate Christmas and New Years together. The house was perfectly set up with everything we needed. We were able to cook fabulous pasta feast, played board games at the table and everyone had a room to sleep with extra pillows and blankets. The master bedroom balcony was nice even though it was not sumner - you can see the ocean. It’s was so great that wee were able to have the family Dogs (2) with us too. The back yard was great for a quick trip outside(bring your dogs poop bags) and there even is an ideal walk around the cemetery. The nice 1/4 bath outside the master was ideal and the heated floors in up stairs bathrooms was a nice surprise.

The property was perfect for our group of 6 adults. The kitchen was well appointed. Plenty of everything. We really enjoyed our stay. Only 2.5 miles from restaurants and other attractions in Gloucester. Would definitely recommend.

Reviewer Comments: If you like to get away for some peace and quiet, but still be within a 5-10 minute drive of the rest of the world, then this is the place. Short walk to two beautiful coves and beautiful views. Sleeps seven comfortably. Good for big families. Plenty of off street parking. Clean and well kept. Windows were a bit of a chore to open, but were functional. Only one issue during our stay - plugged shower drain, but a call to the manager and it was fixed within 1-hour while we were out to dinner.

Atlantic Vacation Homes was incredibly helpful and responsive, from going over to turn on a light for us (even though we requested it late on the day we were arriving) to delivering a fresh set of linens after a coffee spill. Make sure you catch a sunset at Plum Cove Beach while you're there. More information about takeout options would be great and do double-check that the air conditioning filters are clean.

It’s an older colonial with some recent renovations—the kitchen is dated but well-equipped with a newer gas stove and washer/dryer. The dining room has a large table with seating for six-plus. There was a great little sitting room/office and a comfortable living room with a great sectional/chaise. Very useful that TV was a smart TV. Upstairs, the master bedroom is spacious and comfortable with a fun balcony. Other two bedrooms are bare bones with two somewhat comfortable twin beds each. The bathroom has been updated but quirky; shower and double sink are in one space and a powder room with the toilet and small sink are in a separate room down the hall. Unusual but we made it work. There’s also a great outside shower for warm/hot days. The only downside is the house does not have central AC. There are several window units including one small one for the entire first floor which struggled to pump out enough cold air on the 90 degree days when we were there.

The vinyl trim in the kitchen is falling apart and partially held together with duct tape. There's poorly done patchwork in areas with slabs of drywall shoddily screwed in and falling off the wall.
