Happy Hiker Retreat - 5 Bedroom Home

We were very happy with the stay. It's in a nice quiet neighborhood and perfect for two families. Communication with host was good, everything needed was there and worked and it was nice and clean. Great stay. We'll hopefully be back.

Roomy with nice floor plan and comfortable beds. Upstairs master bathroom toilet area inconvenient due to pocket doors with clumsy latches opening into hallway. Dining room light fixture did not work.

Happy Hiker is a wonderful house and property for large families and groups of friends. The wooden Indian statue greeted us in the driveway, and the setting adjacent to a cul-de-sac snd trailhead, with no houses and only trees behind it, is lovely, private, and serene. The house is very clean and well stocked. There are hooks on two trees along the lush green lawn for a hammock (not provided), and I was glad I brought mine! The only small quibbles are that the carpets could use a cleaning or replacement, and the kitchen could benefit from a couple of sharper knives and a screen on the window above the sink. Overall we recommend this highly and look forward to coming back. The property manager RNR Vacation Rentals is also very attentive and helpful.

Easy check in and good location, not too far from stores or any of the Tahoe attractions. Accommodated our family very comfortably! Lots of toys for kiddos, decent amount pantry & kitchen utensils and some nice amenities; the grill, hot tub, trail access etc. The noise ordinance in the late evening (my family can get a little rowdy while playing games) & car limit were a little tricky at times but I understand those are vacation rental rules in general in the area. The house was a little dated & showed signs of wear and tear. The only true issue we had with the property was the cleanliness. The linens and kitchen were in good shape, but the bathrooms and carpet were not. The home has a “no shoes on carpet” policy that I’m assuming previous guest did not adhere too or housekeeping missed vacuuming because our feet were basically black after the first half hour of unloading & setting up our stay. The bathrooms had random dirt & undetermined stains on the counter and tile in the master as well as the downstairs bath shared by two rooms. Overall we enjoyed our stay! I’m sure the cleaning issue was a one off considering other reviews didn’t mention this issue. Would definitely recommend for families.

We had a wonderful stay for a recent hockey tournament. This property ticked all the boxes, a quick drive to Tahoe amenities and stores but the hiking trail and green space made for a very peaceful stay. Everything we could have possibly needed was waiting for our convenience including serving bowls, cookie cutters, fans and all of the comforts of home. We would definitely choose this property again.

Over all our experience at this home was great. The home met all of our needs. We visited during a late winter storm and the property was warm and cozy. We had a minor issue with a room and it was addressed immediately. We would stay here again in the future. There are a lot of rules for this neighborhood, but once you understand them it’s not to over bearing.

Great time with our kids and grandkids. Cabin was perfect for the kids. It backed up to a forest and made it easy for them to play in the snow.

The bedrooms are separate so this a good spot to stay with a group. Hot tub is lovely and the kitchen is well equipped. We loved the hiking trails right out the back door.

We had a group of 7 adults that came to ski and snowboard, and the house was great! The beds and couches were comfortable, the kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked, and the property was well maintained. We enjoyed our stay!

Muy family loved the home. I loved the space/s: common areas, game room, open floor plan and backyard.

Would have been nice to have some beach toys, chairs and umbrella.Dishwasher is a little hard to pull out the rack. But other than that it was well stocked with everything we needed. Great house and great neighborhood. Location is close to all town activities but far enough away to have peace and quiet. Trails literally out the back door.

A family vacation (8 of us) from 2 areas of the country and enjoyed the layout of the house as one family stayed in the 3 bedrooms downstairs, and the other 2 in the upstairs bedrooms. Location was great. Out of town enough for quiet, and just off the main road for a quick ride to downtown. Trailhead right outside the door that led to a series of about a dozen trials. Great for early morning walks. Nice deck overlooking the trails. Really enjoyed South Lake Tahoe. It was July 4th week and VERY crowded. However, the mood was very upbeat, locals and visitors were friendly, happy & having fun. Town was clean & inviting. Had a pool table we used a lot. They have plenty of toys & games for toddlers. The few games our family & teens could have played were not complete. Pros: Location! / Layout of home / Ease of access / Open kitchen (room for multiple cooks) / Comfy beds (firm) / All rooms have fans / Clean Cons: Could use a few games for older kids

My family enjoyed their stay in Happy Hiker. Plenty of room for our family of 6. We enjoyed having the pool table and the walking trails right outside the door. Nice neighborhood and easy communication with management team.

We stayed in south Tahoe at the end of June and choose this home to accommodate the 12 of us! (6 adults, 6 kids) the house fit our needs and was well supplied kitchen/bath towel wise! We enjoyed being right next to the trail in the backyard and driving distance to many of our activities. However we received a massive rule list before coming- threatening charges for any mistake. (Ie. Dirty hot tub water left behind- big time charge.. water spots or any damage to pool table-big charge (when the pool table was ALREADY in poor condition with a few holes in the velvet), there are sound monitors all along the outdoor premise threatening if your above sound level they will call the cops. Given, we’re respectful but with 6 kids under 7 we were very stressed it would pick up the sound from inside! The two guest bedrooms doors would not lock either. We just felt for the extreme pressure of the list of rules with the threatening of charging extra, made us enjoy the home a little less. Overall cleanliness was good along with location. Rooms were comfortable overall. Just would put a warning- if you book be prepared for a book of rules for a home that we felt wasn’t quite up to par of the necessity of rules!
