Stayed Jul 22, 2025We’re not super particular people and ignored some of the reviews but DON’T ignore them. The host stated that the A/C doesn’t go below 76 and she was right. It was uncomfortable for the first 3 hours. A/C has to constantly run to keep it around 76-80 degrees. The place was clean but NOT in good condition and super disappointed about the lack of ample glassware, towels etc. Bring your own wine glasses. Also, the host could’ve waited to mow the lawn while we were gone all day or at least pause while we were unloading from a hot, sticky over heated day at the beach with two dirty dogs to wash up. Not cool. The beach is really nice. Be aware that the gulf side is not easily accessible. If you walk, you have to carry all of your beach gear through about 6 to 10 inch deep sand-dune type sand, and absolutely cannot be driven on without a 4 x 4 truck. We were surprised at the amount of people who had to be towed out of the sand. There is a path in front of the house but that distance is also a little rough carrying all of your beach stuff. However, once you do get to the waters edge it was all worth the trouble. It was breezy, beautiful, unobstructed, and pleasantly uncrowded.Overall we had a great time. We will be back, but not to this house.

Stayed Jul 3, 2025Lisa was a very nice host. The bed in primary bedroom was comfortable. We just felt strange with the owner living down stairs i always felt we were being too loud. I did love having a fenced in yard for my animals.

Stayed May 24, 2025A quick trip to checkout the beaches in Matagorda. The beaches were nice. A little too much sea grass but overall they are nice to visit. The house was a bit disappointing. The host was pleasant and very quick to communicate but the lack of good air conditioning really took away from the visit. When we walked in the house was at least 85 to 90 degrees and the two older windows units just couldn’t cool the place down. And to be honest it just never got cool enough to enjoy to house. So we were never really able to enjoy just being in the living area. I would not stay again or recommend until a better system was available to keep the house cooler.

Stayed Oct 25, 2024House is very clean , the host responds very quickly and lives on the first floor which was a little uncomfortable at first but ended up being more than fine , very friendly and the fenced back yard was a big plus with our dogs . The big L shape porch is perfect , the interior of the house is colorful and fun , we ll be back

Stayed Jul 10, 2024We booked this property in May for a family of 4 and two small dogs. As our check-in day approached, so did Hurricane Beryl. Lisa, our host, was in communication with us days before landfall. We were able to reschedule to a few days later and have a really nice stay in Gorda. The house was clean and comfortable. She made sure we had everything we needed. :) While we were just a short walk over the dunes from the shore, we opted to drive and access the beach from Dunes Drive or the Visitor Center parking lot to avoid the mosquitoes. We hunted shells, built castles, boogie boarded, and fished. Castle building and boogie board were actually at the house already for our use. Overall, we had a really pleasant stay, and our host was kind, attentive, and patient with the shifting circumstances of shifting a booking around a hurricane. ?

Stayed Jun 4, 2024I have been traveling to Matagorda beach for many years. And it is the first property that I did not like. The house is old and everything smells bad, the house is shared with the host or owner, you don't feel comfortable or free to come and go, because she is always watching, you don't feel comfortable making noise. It is the same price as a single and complete house. I actually don't recommend that place. and they never return the deposit.

Stayed May 23, 2024This property served our needs. It was pleasant and although living downstairs and sharing a foyer our host and property owner stayed to herself. We should have paid more attention to the line in description stating that the main living/dining/kitchen space would never get lower than 76 degrees. This is because there is no dedicated AC window unit for that area. It is cooled by fans and the bedroom window units. All in all even with temps in the 90's it was tollerable. It is likely the lower rental price is because of this. It is decorated in beach decorations and adequate. Just tired. Unfortunatley Lisa, the host had been traveling prior to our arrival so AC units had been off for a while when we arrived. It was very musty and took three hours for AC units to recover. This definitely soured our initial experience. We recovered as well and ultimatley enjoyed our stay.
