Airplane Hangar Turned Lofts!
If you have a passion for design, albeit: Modern. Minimalistic. Mid-Century or Mies (as in Van der Rohe), then come and explore architecture with us while you make your initial decent into a world of industrial and aviation wonderment at The Hangar Lofts Hotel. Formerly airplane hangars servicing Columbia’s Downtown Airport, now enigmatic upscale lofts notably featured on HGTV and located a mere runway from Columbia’s emerging City Center.
Each Hangar has its own sophisticated approach to style, delivering a high ceiling atmosphere that lands you soundly on the welcomed side of the threshold. The attitude of each space spans the design spectrum streaming from the likes of Le Corbusier, Joseph Eichler, Herman Miller, Louis Poulsen to Mies.
Landing gear locked, flaps down then a short taxi across the tarmac lands you in one of our seven 1,200 square foot Hangar Lofts for an evening to embrace. Our lofts have all the dials and gauges you’d expect in an emerging urban landscape ranging from exposed brick walls, structural steel beams, concrete floors and countertops to oversized commercial-styled glass windows for private patio spectating. The Baltic-birch custom cabinetry frames the modern kitchen, containing the soft-spoken beauty of stainless Bosch appliances. The 17-foot tall ceilings are accented with exposed aluminum spiral ductwork hung as a backdrop to a ceiling made of clear-finished tongue & groove boards. These lofts also contain loads of intimate lighting tailored for your perfect evening.
After rinsing off your travels in our spa-inspired custom showers, you’ll experience 5-Star landings on our Tuft and Needle Mattresses afloat locally crafted platform beds, lavished with enough gooses and thread-count to send you off soundly on your journey counting sheep. Wheels up in the morning with a hot cup of Starbucks and then it's Bon voyage!
I have stayed here before, it is a cool getaway that offers a unique stay at reasonable rates. I will absolutely stay again.
Great location, cool little place
Close to some cool spots. Easy check in and parking next to unit. Really nice layout and set up of converted space. Could use a better cleaner (don’t forget the fans) but would def stay there again!
Get spot to get away. Really enjoyed the stay at that nice place.
The owners have created an architecturally unique experience that feeds ones desire for something different. The outside private patio, the platform bed, the shower all please and surprise at the same time. The toilet and sink in the bathroom just surprise. The lighting is creative and demands maintenance and care that might be a challenge to maintain. When fully functional just turning on light switches is an entertaining adventure. Enjoy the edge don’t fight it and it will be a great place to spend a few days around events at the nearby University .
I will come back again.
The hangar loft is industrial-chic space with high ceilings and lots of air. The comfortable couches in both rooms were great during down times after exploring the Columbia area. The kitchen has a fantastic refrigerator and dishwasher and plenty of counter space. There are shelves for your clothing and shoes in the area adjacent to the bathroom, and there’s also hanging space but only three hangers. In fact, what’s in the apartment is pretty uniformly terrific, but what’s not there is a problem. There’s no toaster, no mixing/salad bowl, no pot holders, no napkins, and no roasting/baking pans despite the more than adequate oven. I left some disposable ones I bought, so the next renter will have them. Fortunately, I travel with many of the other things myself (but not with a toaster!). In the bathroom, the large walk-in shower has great water pressure but has three unlabeled dispensers with no place for your own soap, shampoo, conditioner and so forth. The sink area has inadequate space for your toiletries, and the bathroom doors slide shut in an inconvenient fashion. Still, the space as a whole is attractive, conveniently located to downtown and the university area, and Joab is quick to respond to requests and questions.
Such a beautifully put together place. Located in a quiet area which was nice. Very close to downtown Columbia. Would definitely love to come back sometime!
I really enjoyed the vibe and decor. It really is a neat concept for the hangar loft. However, the modern bathroom needs more lighting if you are a female who uses makeup, and the cool sink does not give much vanity room. Kitchen amenities were nice and well appointed, and the bed and bedding were very comfortable. The owner was very nice and accommodating when we reached out for information or had questions.
