Stayed Mar 2, 2025If you want to stay in an authentic family home in a real (not resort built) town, this is the place. The home is beautiful, tasteful, and full of real old-style Hawai’iana. This includes authentic artwork, a real longboard made of koa wood and authentic mid century collectibles from Honolulu gift shops c. 1950’s and 60’s. In addition, the home is one block from the beach and three blocks from the town. Hanalei, is an authentic, (not resort built) town with everything you need for a perfect vacation including a wide price range of shops and restaurants. You can even get “box lunch” and “shave ice” in town in addition to local fine dining style restaurants with fresh caught fish. The house is open air and has a beautiful new deck complete with hot tub and, best of all, a private outdoor shower with hot water. There are family and visitor keepsakes and a beautiful quiet garden filled with orchids and exotic tropical plants. The home is even better than depicted in the VRBO website photos, which is a first for me. Best of all you’ll be in a quiet residential neighborhood one block from the beach and three blocks from town. I will definitely be back hopefully with my kids and grandkids in the next couple of years. Mahalo, Gail Wright Ka Makani class of’78

Stayed Jun 14, 2024Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is AMAZING you are within walking distance of Hanalei bay, downtown, the jacuzzi is hot & very secluded (minus the camera), you can walk to the Dolphin restaurant(highly recommended)that has fresh local fish of the day/sushi(just walk straight out the back of the property and go to the right once you hit the trail), the wildlife is so amazing/abundant(the Nene’s(look like geese) plus tons of (chickens/roosters), they have everything you need(chairs boogie boards, hats, washer and dryer, coffee maker, tons of dishes, spices, games & anything else you could think of), has an outdoor shower, avocado and mango trees in backyard)the home is decorated so Kauai you can feel the vibe the second you open the door, plus you could entertain for at least 20 people, newly updated bathrooms(shower only no tubs) and parking is not an issue.A few things to warn you about: windows are 1/3 screen(I had a lizard running up my back the first night) so no a/c, two queen beds that will be hard for the next 20 years and a bed in the hallway, roosters that wake you up at 4:30 am-7:30 pm(a nap is impossible fyi) because they do their thing until sunset, no tv, and there is a unit that you share the property with at the front of the house that has the same 10-15 stair entrance(you have no privacy here because your windows are 1/3 of the way open even with shades closed and they have a/c which I was extremely jealous of).It was a nice vacation but had to buy extra fans(wished it was ann an/c unit but can’t do with 1/3 of each window being open) and some padding for the beds because our backs hurt so bad after just one night. They allowed us to check in early which was nice. If you’re looking for the TRUE vibe of Hanalei bay this is your place.

I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved this spot. The decor was incredibly well done and very authentic Hawaiian. You immediately felt like you were on vacation walking through the door. The backyard was expansive and super private. The home was very well equipped and cared for. When we arrived a pack and play was set up for our toddler as well as a baby gate. And fresh flowers was a nice touch! 5 stars! We will be back.
