Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Thank you for a great summer 2018 - we are no longer booking the whole house, but the Inspired Suite (VRBO 1086542) is available during August, September and beyond. The suite works well for couples with a small child or older child on the queen sofa bed (or for a second adult).
This home was designed out of a love for nature, art, and relaxation. The soft rounded walls encasing the large modern windows give a sense of openness to the outdoors. Over two acres of land offer total peace and tranquility. You will be inspired, recharge, and cherish your time in this custom eco-friendly and art-filled home!
Upon entering the home, the open concept kitchen, dining, and living room welcome you inside. The custom designed kitchen has maple cabinets and slate counters and is fully equipped to cook any meal. The spacious and light-filled living room offers views of the garden and a flat screen TV with cable, Apple TV, and DVD player. Two downstairs bedrooms (one with queen bed and the other with twin bed) share a large beautiful bath.
Upstairs, the private suite offers a spacious bedroom with comfortable queen bed; a grand bathroom with spa tub; and a large sitting room with flat screen TV, books, and high-end queen sofa bed.
The house is best suited for up to five guests, but can accommodate up to seven guests in beds. There is typically an additional nightly charge for more than 5 guests -- please inquire with your specific situation.
A well-equipped gym is available on the first floor.
Guests have access to the entire house including all the outside amenities: new fieldstone patio, covered breezeway for reading or morning coffee, new BBQ with additional burner for our lobster pot, and flower gardens. The washer and dryer is also available to guests.
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us this Labor Day weekend. We had a wonderful time, really latched on to all Maine has to offer and finding it hard to peel ourselves away. The two of you are absolutely fabulous hosts! We truly appreciate all the knowledge and suggestions you had to offer. We enjoyed the Portland Schooner Co sunset sail and Island Creek Oysters in particular and would certainly recommend both to future guests. Also Bite Into Maine and the lemon tart from Scratch. The list of things we loved ends only with the time to enjoy them. We very much appreciate your gracious hospitality and personal touch we would not get elsewhere. Breakfast was delicious and the berries served -- almost as refreshing as your kindness and generosity. We'd love to stay again so we'll keep you in mind for future ventures this way.
This is an awesome property tucked back in the woods of Cape Elizabeth. The owners are unbelievably accommodating for any and all needs. One of the beauties of this spot is even with the wonderful rural setting you are only a short 10 minute drive to the incredible Portland scene, 5 minutes from the highway and 15 minutes from the airport. Their home is spotlessly clean and has all the modern conveniences of home that Elena shares with her guests. I truly look forward to this visit every year and hope to be going back for many years to come.
Having such good memories of our first experience, we decided to book Elena's property for a second year in a row for our summer vacation with our three year old daughter. I wrote last year about how the house is perfectly located between charming Portland and several beaches (beautiful Crescent Beach and Higgins Beach are only 10-15 minutes away), how it is fully equipped and fitted for young families... but I really think what makes it so special is its owner, Elena. You can tell she cares deeply about her house, her prolific garden and her sustainable living ideology and that she is most happy to share all of it with her visitors. Thank you Elena for your warmth and for always going the extra mile, especially with Chloé. At the end of our stay, we left with even more beautiful family memories of Cape Elizabeth and with the feeling that we somewhat visited a friend...
Our first experience being so great, we decided to book Elena's property for a second year in a row for our summer vacation with our three year old daughter. The moment we got there, we felt so glad we had made that choice! The house is warm yet serene... you can feel that the owner has thought of every detail to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as it can possibly be. The location is perfect for those who want to enjoy a wide range of activities at close distance and I would say especially for young families who wish to spend a couple of hours at one venue and than come back home to rest or simply enjoy sun in the yard. There are numerous beaches within a 30 minute drive, some of them, including beautiful Crescent Beach and Higgins Beach being only 10 to 15 minutes away. On a cloudy day, you can visit the charming city of Portland, right across the bridge, and its amazing Children's Museum. A hit for our kid! However, what really makes this property so special is the owner, Elena. You can tell that she really cares about her house and her gorgeous garden and that she is proud and happy to share it with her visitors. She is available for any question about the house, of course, but also to provide activities and restaurant tips... and yes, she will tell you where to get the absolute best Maine lobster roll. The house is fully equipped for cooking, well suited for young children and there is everything you might need for the beach. If you were to miss something, Elena will go the extra mile to accommodate you. At the end of your stay, your head will be full of memories of gorgeous Cape Elizabeth... and you might somewhat feel like you have visited a friend. Thank you Elena!
Could not have been happier with this property and owners. I highly recommmend for future tenants!
This was my wife's first time to maine. The house was amazing and a great size for my parents, wife and two kids. The owner was super nice and made sure we were having a good time. We will look to stay here again.
We spent a whole week with our 2 year-old daughter at Elena's house. What a great vacation we had! The house is big, super clean, fully-equipped (everything you need for the beach is also provided) and if there is anything else you might need, Elena is readily available at anytime to help you with any info on the surroundings, great spots to visit, restaurants and general directions. An impressive choice of small and pleasant beaches are just 10 minutes away and so is the town of Portland which is certainly worth visiting for a day trip or for dinner in one of its gourmet restaurants. But most of all, the property, probably because it belongs to such a warm person, will feel just like your home. From the cedar sidings and the calm atmosphere to the lush garden, you will be delighted to have chosen Elena's home and Cape Elizabeth as your destination. Do not hesitate!
This is a great home, well appointed and super clean. The yard is extremely peaceful and in the summer months you can cook with food grown in the garden. We saw a fox stealing corn while we were there, and a very fat chipmunk that lives on the blueberry bushes in the rear. The location is great, only 10 mins from Portland and about 50 mins to Brunswick. Great location for visiting the campus (GO U BEARS!).
Elena's home is just wonderful, I cannot say enough good things! It is in an amazing location and my husband and 13-year-old were so happy to have a peaceful, secluded home to stay in just minutes away from Portland. There are adventures aplenty in all directions, and Elena had great advice about what to do that matched our individual and family interests. She is a gracious and engaging hostess, available when we needed her but also very respectful of our space. Maine is a magical place to visit and Elena's home is the perfect place to stay without question! We will most definitely return in the future!
User Profile Image Dr. K (Boston) Although only 10 minutes from downtown Portland, Elena's home is nestled among tall oaks on two acres of land along a quiet, safe Cape Elizabeth street. Her contemporary home is full of artisan detail and art work inviting her visitors to relax among comfortable surroundings. My partner Molly and I both commented that Elena is natural-born hostess. She practices the fine art of caring for her guests and offers knowledgeable assistance on planning our weekend itinerary without being intrusive. She was quick to offer us French-pressed coffee and freshly baked cookies, review walking tour maps of Portland, and discuss not-to-be-missed highlights of the area. She even thinks she knows where to find the area's best lobster roll. If you are a hiker or skier, Elena, who is an outdoors woman (she once worked for Outward Bound) can outfit you with day packs and recommend the best trails. As there are snow shoe trails in the back of her home and a farm meadow trail across the road, we can easily imagine returning for a cozy, warm winter weekend in front of her wood stove. Our living quarters, including a lovely bedroom with a queen-size bed, a private bathroom with a spa tub, and a sitting room with a flat-screen TV, books and DVD library, were upstairs away from Elena's living area. Of course, WiFi is available. The house is a true find with a truly gracious host who is willing to be flexible with her guests' needs. Do not hesitate to stay here.
