Crested Butte, Colorado
This large home which sleeps a total of 8-10, is nestled in the woods above Nicholson Lake between the town of Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte Ski Area. This home is only 3.5 miles from town! Just a short bike ride on single track to town. The property offers spectacular mountain views in all directions, with immediate access to trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, plus close proximity to downhill skiing or the town of Crested Butte, with its charming shops, pubs and restaurants. This property sits on a knoll with the gorgeous Slate River on one side and Nicholson lake on the other. Lots of supping available down the river or on the lake.
The main house has five bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms. There are 2 extra beds and a half bathroom. It offers a large dining room, breakfast nook and wonderful living/gathering space. The fully-equipped kitchen,1/2 bath, laundry and mud/gear rooms are all conveniently located on the main level. The house has five flat-screen satellite TVs, internet, a Finnish sauna and an outdoor year-round hot tub. At times it has accommodated 3 families at once. It is ideal for multiple families with so much room inside and out.
The lower level bedrooms offer a second living room with surround sound TV/DVD. Especially for children and infants are a fully equipped main house toy/game room, two “pack-'n-play” cribs, a trundle bed, two high chairs and two changing tables. For an extra charge the guest house is designed for those who'd like a private getaway, with its own bedroom with queen bed, private bath and efficiency kitchen.
For summertime guests, there is an outdoor mini-playground and camp-style marshmallow-roasting pit, as well as a great seasonal screened room adjacent to the dining room. For winter guests, snow removal service is provided, and there is a one-car garage. There is always ample driveway parking, regardless of the season ... a feature not often found with in-town and on-the-mountain rentals.
Property as described and Elizabeth was super easy and accommodating to a few special requests. All 5 of us had a comfortable private bedroom. Snow removal was seamless, and location was equidistant from the ski resort and downtown. No public transport options in this area, so AWD rental car is a must.
Beautiful house and view. E. Smith was easy to communicate with. Kitchen is well stocked. Hot tub and sauna were used almost every night. Very roomy for the nine of us. The only downside to the quiet beautiful lot is that it is 20 minutes from either ski resort or town. The road was plowed and two wheel drive would suffice.
The house was cosy and comfortable with a great hot tub for relaxing after skiing. Elizabeth was very helpful and responsive to all inquiries. Would love to come back again in both winter and summer.
Our family stayed here and truly enjoyed our time. Elizabeth was helpful with check in/checkout!
Everything perfect
Great house with plenty of room located in a quiet neighborhood with fantastic views
Wonderful house to say near crested butte. About a 10 min drive to either town or ski mountain. House was very pleasant with beautiful views, well stocked kitchen, plenty of bedrooms (2 upstairs and 4 in the basement). Communication was excellent with easy check in and check out. Would happily stay here again. We spent plenty of time in the hot tub and you could snowshoe right from the house.
Beautiful surroundings, quiet, lots of space, great property and responsive hosts
We cooked our meals and so appreciated pantry basics, spices, well-stocked kitchen in general! The sauna and spa were a lovely bonus-great for sore ski legs! Again, this is a lovely home in a beautiful setting. We appreciated 3 master bedrooms as well as the flexible sleeping spaces. Some suggestions: it was disconcerting that so much of the owners' personal belongings were there-clothes in closets and drawers, lots of family pictures, etc. In addition, the beds and bedding were not consistent for the price point for this house. All should be updated. We enjoyed the family room but the seating was generally uncomfortable; again, not consistent with the price point. Given the updates we would rent again.
My first impression was that we were sitting on top of the world when I took in the view of Nicholson Lake and the peaks beyond. Then the night sky made me think I could reach out and grab the stars! The house is beautifully maintained and any questions are immediately answered. No problems whatsoever. There is no end of activities, especially outdoors--walks down to Slate River directly from the house, fishing or paddle boarding in the private lake, cycling on the endless trails or mountain biking galore. The town offers plenty of places to eat and to listen to music while soaking up the western, laid back atmosphere. Depending upon when you go, there are arts fairs, music festivals and public policy forums. I enjoyed it so much that I brought family members who enjoyed it (almost) as much as I did. It is one of those places--the house, the wilderness, the town--that you are conflicted about letting others know about!
