Charming brick house from a past era. Lovingly decorated in a historic theme but updated kitchen and baths. Cosy outdoor seating on screened porch and backyard. Two block walk (downhill) to Main St. A perfect spot for a retreat from today’s world.

The host tried blaming us for a tv that had fell off the wall mount while we were already gone and checked out. So not too sure if that actually happened or if she made it look that way. Also the tv that fell was stated that it was a smart tv and it was not. It was also not working when we got there. The downstairs bedroom has crystals and other things growing on the walls. I had to message the host after check in time for the information to get into the place. Also if you are tall, bad place for you because the house has very short ceilings. It is an old and gorgeous home and we had the best time with our little getaway to Galena but the host made things more difficult. The neighbor was the friendliest lady as well! I would love to give 5 stars but make sure to report any damages or anything not working when first arriving to ensure the host doesn’t try blaming you. Just a warning! Also the dreaded hill that people talk about is definitely a thing. If you are not in shape I don’t recommend walking up and down the hill.

Cute, sunlight from the front of the home and a lovely sun room looking out to the pleasant backyard. Driveway a plus. Not too far for a walk to downtown. Recommend a zig zag walk to make the return easier. A powder room on the first floor would be a great edition and adding handrails on both sides of the interior stairs. We happen to be there during a tornado warning and watch that had one that did touchdown in Lena. There was a big storm front of lots of rain and hail in Galena.. The host texted us to make sure that we were OK and that was very kind of her to do. Enjoy.

It was a cute house for a couples getaway without kids. Super close to downtown, which was great. Only thing the stairs in the house are very steep so just have to be careful. Other than that great house for 4 people!

We thought the home was very nice and decorated beautifully I felt Tanya did a wonderful job to make our stay was nice. I was in the hospitality industry for 38 years If I had to make any recommendations I would suggest possibly making a few changes to improve your guest experience 1 upgrade the bedding sheets 2, your backyard is beautiful but the back porch on the lower level needs to be cleaned and add additional LED lighting, at nighttime there is no outside lighting so you can’t enjoy the deck.3, I highly recommend adding a curtain or shade to the door on the lower level leading to the screened in porch. You currently don’t have anything to cover it at night.Your fountain is absolutely gorgeous and is an amazing asset to your backyard May I suggest having it emptied and cleaned. We have a fountain and I have a product that I put a ounce of in the water once a week and it keeps the alge from growing in the water If I could also suggest place a solar flood light on it at night it would be beautiful You might want to add an umbrella to your patio table Tanya these are all inexpensive itemsthat would truly make the home such an incredible experience.Thank you for having us in your lovely home.PS We had deer welcome us Friday when we arrived.

2 Mom friends traveled to historic Galena for the weekend. The house was lovely but we did end up sharing it with a kitchen mouse. Also we were not able to log into our TV subscriptions successfully. Safe walkable neighborhood.

Nice place. Stairs to lower level a little scary. Would not be ok for someone with knee or hip problems. There were a few other surprises that were my fault because I did not read the description well enough. Overall, it was a fun place to stay.

My best friend and I utilized this property for our annual girls weekend. The pictures did not do it justice! This is an absolutely beautiful property and the gardens and backyard were gorgeous. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by two fans and a doe in the backyard! The home decor was amazing and you felt like you were taking a step back in time with all the historical decor. The location was awesome and just a few blocks away from downtown. We had so much fun on our journeys walking back-and-forth to and from downtown. Definitely don’t wear any shoes with heels for the trek and be prepared for some exercise! We learned our lesson the first night. It is absolutely beautiful property and we cannot wait to come back.
