The Space:
Come to Cape Charles for some Fun in the Sun!

This charming pink beach cottage has been updated to fit all of your needs. Featuring three bedrooms and two full baths, it's a perfect escape for the whole family.

Enjoy the front porch with a cozy porch swing, or the back yard with a large picnic table for outdoor dining complete with outdoor cafe lighting! A shed is open to guests with all kinds of amenities to enjoy; beach chairs, boogie boards, bikes, cornhole boards, and tennis rackets!

Inside, you'll love the natural light from the huge historic windows and the custom artwork created by the owner! A spacious living room and dining room with a table large enough for your whole group, flows into the kitchen that is stocked with everything you might need! From the kitchen you can access a queen bedroom using a secret staircase, or this room is accessible from the bunk room on the main hall. The bunk room features 2 sets of twin bunks, perfect for the kids! A second queen bedroom completes the second floor sleeping arrangements. If you have a reader in your group, they will absolutely love the library at the end of the hall complete with books, games, and a comfy couch.

Guest Access:
We offer convenient door codes for self-check-in. Cape Charles Cottage uses convenient keyless entry for self check-in, details provided 2 weeks (or less) prior to arrival by email and text message.

• Early check-ins or late check-outs: If the property happens to be ready earlier than the standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, in most cases an early arrival option may be available when confirmed with the main office. Late check-outs must be confirmed with main office staff prior to the date of departure.

Cape Charles is a small town (the historic area is roughly a six block by six block square) that sits on the peninsula’s western coast… meaning you can sit on the beach in Cape Charles and watch the sunset right over the water. On the Chesapeake Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean, the water is calm and shallow. The picturesque town of Cape Charles is filled with Americana, all about family and beautiful surroundings, voted one of the Happiest Seaside Towns by Coastal Living. - All guests staying at an Chesapeake Properties Vacation Rentals by Portoro (Portoro Homes) are required to sign (esignature) a rental agreement and complete identity registration.
- Age restrictions apply. Reservation holder must be 25 years of age.
- Upon arrival, we aim to ensure your safety, proper access to the home, and guest features. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Chesapeake Properties by Portoro directly.
- Known damages incurred during your stay must be reported to the property manager immediately.
- Before check in, we will send you detailed directions to ensure a seamless arrival.
- Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 10:00 a.m.
- We cannot guarantee early check ins or late checkouts. When it is possible to check in early or check out late, there will be a fee for anything outside of a one hour window within our standard times. If your need for an early check in or late check out is great, your best option is to book an additional night.
- Some homes have cameras for external monitoring only.
- HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: In the State of Virginia and in Northampton County, all hotel and vacation rental hosts are required to collect hotel tax. We collect these taxes within the booking transaction.
- Some homes offer pools/hot tubs, or access to communal pools. There is no guard around the water features when available. Use at your own risk.
- This is a No Smoking property. Penalty fees for violations will apply and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.

- Animals/Pets -- Dogs Only, Guidelines and Fee*
Animals/pets must be disclosed prior to reservation arrival date. Only dogs are permitted in “Pet-Friendly” Property listings. Allowed number of dogs will be expressly stated in the listing and a $150.00 fee per animal/pet is required. Animals/pets are not permitted anywhere on the premises unless prior approval is obtained. Any unauthorized animals/pets at the property will result in a $150.00 per day / per animal/pet fee, and may result in your reservation being canceled, and you may be required to vacate from the Property.

- For the safety of guests and the home, there are noise monitoring devices. These devices only measure the decibel level and do NOT record any audio.

Interaction with Guests:
Our goal is that your vacation exceed your expectations. Chesapeake Properties communicates via email and phone. After a booking is confirmed, rental agreement will be emailed to the guest for e-signature. Check-in instructions are sent by email and text message 14 days (or less) prior to arrival date. We offer convenient keyless entry for self-check in. We do typically check in with guests by text 1-2 times during their stays to ensure a 5-star experience and remain available for any questions. We are available to guests 24/7 for any inquiries.

    Check in process was easy and property manager very responsive. It is an old historic house, so doors stick, windows leak warm air, and ceilings are cracked. But overall, spacious house with a good location and large kitchen.

    Our group, including multiple adults and young kids, had a great stay! The property was clean, comfortable, and super well equipped, from the kitchen to the shed out back. We really enjoyed how bright and breezy it felt, especially after a day out at the beach. The location was also a plus, as our toddlers could easily cruise on their balance bikes to the lovely park down the street. Property management was super responsive, which was awesome.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had so much fun staying here! Everything was provided for including linens, trashbags, even dish soap. The house itself was beautiful. We especially loved all of the art! We also appreciated the shed full of beach toys.

    Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The scape worked for what we needed but wasn’t fully and properly cleaned. Property was very obviously not fully vacuumed upon our arrival. The house also seemed to be in some disrepair, shower head handle was loose, some doors missing knobs/loose, door frames shifted (leaving gaps when doors closed). In addition it seemed to be quite dangerous that all the glass on windows and doors was single pane and not tempered.

    Lovely spot for two families (two couples, three kids total) to spend a few days exploring Cape Charles. Fantastic communication with rental agency and a well-appointed, gorgeous old home, would absolutely stay here again. One of the adult bedrooms is connected to the kids’ room, however you can come and go through a cute little winding staircase that attaches to the kitchen so you don’t have to go through the kids’ room to enter and exit… but, would be an issue for someone with motility challenges! We thought it was fun. The house is in a nice location on a quiet, historic street… definitely recommend renting a golf cart for getting to and from the beach as it’s just under a mile. Property is clean and well-maintained, only minor issue is the downstairs bathroom doorknob needs to be secured. Cute touches like the owners’ paintings of local places and the string lights out back make it feel very special!
