Third floor hallway has foyer with large window seat, sofa, and 42' flat panel TV with YouTube TV and a PlayStation 4 game system.

Our large extended family of 24 spent a week there in this historical log house. PLENTY of room for all of us to eat and play games. The yard was private with a fire pit and the grandkids had fun running around. An artic blast hit but the heaters and living room fireplace kept us plenty warm! And it even snowed for us Floridians!! John was always available for any questions or concerns. And the ski resorts are very close by! Great memories to be cherished!

Our Group had a great time at the Great Escape Lodge. Plenty of space. Everything was very clean. Everything was in working order. I would definitely stay here again with our Group. The rustic character of this house added to our retreat experience. The host was always available to help with any questions.

We planned my husband's Bday getaway with family and friends. We were 16 of us traveling from Fl, SC, UT and TX. I wanted to have everything nice for this special ocassion. Unfortunately, the real situation of this property is not as on the pictures. Please read all negative reviews as these are true! Those positive reviews are fake! This property is health and safety hazzard and should not be rented at all! 1) black mold everywhere. I and 2 more people are tested for black mold allergy and inside in this property we could smell a mold starting sneezing after couple minutes being inside. This is a huge health hazzard and it should be checked by health department2) rooms were not cleaned. A lot of dust, spider webs and spiders in carpets, dirty toilets with black mold, dirty old showers. There is not enough pictures of this property to understand how bad the real situation is. If I could upload videos and puctures here, I would. 3) pattio is rotten and not safe for people4) the owner claims this property for 30 people. We were 16 and this property does not even have 16 chairs in their small dining room ...Kitchen is for 1 person, very small and old.5) outside of this property is broken glass, we think from windows, so cleaning crew does not even care to check around the property6) there are no chairs to have seats around fire pit outside, nor chairs on patio. Therefore, you can forget to have a nice gathering outside. This property should not be rented at all!

We enjoyed time with our extended family over the Labor Day holiday. The lodge was large enough to accomadate all of us, numbering 20, comfortably. The fire pit was great for us and the neighborhood was quiet, the woods around the house secluded. The host, John, was very helpful and available. We would rent there again if the family decides to return to the area.

Our stay at the Great Escape Lodge was fantastic! The house is a magnificent historical structure. All rooms were ready and perfect for our arrival (bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, etc...all perfect). We grilled and shared stories and good laughs on the back deck. The living room was perfect for all of us to catch up after a day of activities and share our adventures. Key for us was how easy the owners made everything for our stay. They even went the extra mile to be sure we had directions to navigating the mountain and knowing where to get groceries, dinner, hiking, etc. Hospitality and flexibility were greatly appreciated. We good not have enjoyed our stay more!

Our church group had a great time at the cabin. It is definitely large enough for 30 people with plenty of parking spots. Definitely recommend for those looking to go as a large group. Plus location is great as it is very close for things skiing or sledding.

We loved this cabin! Our church group stayed in this cabin for the weekend while we volunteered with Samaritan’s Purse. Upon check-in, the owner called to welcome us and give a short orientation. He was very attentive to our needs through out the entire weekend. Everyone in my group absolutely loved this cabin. It allowed us to all be together in one setting but have our own individual rooms. I have continued to communicate with the owner since our visit and have become fond friends through communication. I’ve even already booked with them again for next year! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your place. We really enjoyed it!

The house was in an amazing location and there were plenty of attractions within a short drive of the house. John was the most helpful host we have ever worked with, he was easily accessible the entire weekend and called to welcome us upon arrival. The house was great for our large group with amazing features - a favorite of ours was the piano! We definitely recommend this house!

John is truly an amazing host. Thought we didn’t make it to the property due to the Hurricane, John communicated the entire time, kept me up to date with weather conditions and kept my family and I safety as his main priority. He was communicative and very caring in the process! I look forward to revoking his place very soon!

Property is beautiful and had more than enough room and space! We booked this house for friends and family to stay during our wedding weekend. All the guests had great things to say! John the host was very communicative and responsive. The only thing to note is that it wasn’t communicated to us until 3 days before our stay that paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels are not provided. It would have been nice to have that stated in the listing (had to coordinate buying that after I had already started traveling). Otherwise, it seemed like everything else you would need was there!

This house needs a total overhaul! We arrived to four bag of trash on the front porch that we had to remove. There were no clean towels-there were piled up in a closet. I called and texted the owner but he wasn’t able to do anything about the houses condition! Do not stay here! Dead trees fallen on the property. The furniture, rugs, shower curtains, toilets, shower heads, windows all need scrubbing! There need to be upgrades to include basic screens and rotten wood replaced! I’ve never seen a rental this bad. I have reached out for a P refund and only had a cleaning fee refunded. The owner communicates but doesn’t seem to understand the gravity of his home’s disarray! The grill was filthy, the deck boards are rotting, there is rotten wood on windows, on the entrance walkway,. Some of the windows have no screens and they were all filthy with bugs and mold! And that’s important because it’s the only way to cool the house down… also, there was mold on a shower curtain and a shower head. A toilet that rocked and was “fixed” with cardboard to try to stop that problem. In a house for 30 people, you could hardly move in the kitchen! When you opened a cupboard door it hit the fan. And then there were the sheets!! Filthy, crumbs and other stuff were in the bedsheets. One of the bunk beds had been peed in and the sheets and blanket was still damp😮. The bedspreads were old and not clean. I will never recommend VRBO again.what kind of business is it that allows such properties!

A few Alumni members of our baseball team stayed here and enjoyed their experience. Everything was clean and well-looked after. The communication with the property manager was especially good. The directions were clear. All info we needed was provided. The building's history is very interesting. All around good stay.
