Welcome to our 125 year old, remodeled farmhouse. This adorable farmhouse has all new amenities: kitchen, 2.5 baths, laundry room, carpet & plank flooring, paint, appliances, etc. Even though the home has been updated, we maintained most of the original farmhouse charm and the cozy cottage feel. This home is near the end of a cul-de-sac road and sits atop a hill with beautiful views of Little Bass Lake. There is no public access or launch to the lake so it stays pretty quiet. There are3 kayaks as well as a paddle board available for use. The large stone fire-pit that overlooks the water is perfect for bonfires and roasting marshmallows! Metal roasting sticks are available in the garage. There is firewood onsite for purchase in the garage.

Go remote and get away from it all! The home is close to the trails, perfect for four-wheeling, ORV riding, and snowmobiling so bring your toys! Walking/Bike trails are just across the street from our road. It is federal land for your enjoyment!
*Please keep in mind that this cottage is pretty remote, as there is approximately thirty minutes to the Little River Casino, Crystal Mountain Ski & Golf Resort (they also have a Spa), Caberfae Peaks Ski area, Ludington, Manistee, and Cadillac. One hour from Traverse City.

Baldwin is approximately 30 minutes away. Fish the Pere Marquette River - one of the best fishing rivers in all of the Midwest. Baldwin Canoe & Tube Rental is also in town and a lot of fun. They also have kayaks and rafts available. Magoon Creek Park is 25 minutes away which is on Lake Michigan and has spectacular views! Walk the short trail to the lake to swim & play!

This farmhouse cottage is what going up north is all about - Remote, cozy, rest & relaxation! Little Bass Lake is 65 acres and has some of the cleanest water you will ever see. Over 10+ natural springs make this lake clean, cool, and provides great fishing! Big Bass Lake (290 acres) is accessible via Kayak through the small channel on the far southwest side of the lake. We do have a sandy shore with a dock. The beach area looks like Caribbean waters and you can swim here but swimming is best further out due to the marl (decomposed limestone) bottom/footing. We do provide a few blow-up tubes and rafts so that you can swim further out (located in the garage). There are also some life jackets available. Swim at your own risk.

We have a game cabinet for rainy days and/or evenings as well as some outdoor games. Outdoor games include the Washer Game, Giant Jenga, Croquet, Frisbee, Ladder Ball, Horseshoes, & Wiffle Ball. Inside, on the back porch, there is an entire cabinet full of games and puzzles. Some of the games include Uno, Monopoly, Sequence, Twister, Sorry, Connect Four, Checkers, Chess, Cribbage, Dominoes, Trivial Pursuit, several decks of playing cards, dice, and more!

Maximum number of guests is 6 people total in the winter months and 8 people total in the summer months. This is due to no heat upstairs. We do have window unit a/c for the summer. Your total amount of guests = adults + children combined. We do strictly enforce this rule due to previous experiences. We are sorry that we have to do this. We reserve the right to terminate your stay early without a refund and charge for additional people if this rule is not adhered to. Please be sure to read the rental agreement that is automatically sent to you once you book to review this policy & other rules in more detail. Exterior Ring security cameras in place.

2nd year here and it’s phenomenal, it’s obvious that this isn’t just slapped together. The owners clearly go out of the way to make it a 5 star experience. Highly recommend, we’ve made so many memories here

Fantastic stay. Can’t think of a thing to change. Host was very communicative and clear in throughout the process and also had fun facts about the surrounding wildlife. The house is wonderful and has all the amenities we could have hoped for. Great range of living spaces from the well-stocked kitchen to a spacious living room, and patio with table, grill, and cushioned seats. The sun room was a particular favorite in the early mornings. We cooked most meals and the kitchen had all the pots, pans, etc we needed. The lake is crystal clear. Kayaking was great. Swimming off the dock worked well for the kids and the tubes in the garage were a great addition. The biggest difference compared to many rentals we’ve had is this feels like a home that belongs to a family who loves it themselves—not just a placed purchased to rent. Was a wonderful week!

A beautiful home on a quiet, clear lake. The listing descriptions and pictures shows you all the positive aspects of the property (and there are many) so there's no need to list all of those things. There are just a few things to be aware of if you plan to rent this home. If you have a larger group, there is not enough seating around the tables (in or out). Some of us had to sit on bar stools with our knees at table height. The only hooks for bath towels, beach towels, wet bathing suits, etc are by the two doors near the garage. Neither is located near a bathroom, a bedroom or the areas of the house most used so be prepared to get creative in order to dry your towels. The upstairs bedroom has a window AC that is very loud so people who like it quiet should not choose that room. The kitchen was fairly well appointed but know that there are no disposable products like paper plates, foil and baggies. The never ending list of rules and instructions is extensive and seems a little over the top but if you're a respectful guest, no worries. Overall, a nice place that just needs a little tweaking.

Property was everything that we expected and more!! Wonderfully kept, extremely tidy and clean, and gorgeous views of the lake. You can tell the owners have really put their heart and soul into this place. Only regret is I wish we had longer to stay, but we had a tight window this year for a summer vaca in which the owners even modified their minimum night requirement for us to make this family trip work. Thank you again!!

This property is stunning. The inside is clean and tidy, the outside is well groomed with amazing views! Indoor games, outdoor games on a quiet lake with very clear waters. It was very easy to communicate with the host who was very kind. The house was recently renovated and it shows! I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Old farmhouse that was tastefully renovated. Accommodated our family very well as far as sleeping arrangements. The only thing that disappointing was how mucky the lake bottom was, which was disclosed in the description, we just didn’t realize how mucky. However, we still had a great time. We just floated at the end of the dock. We had great weather in the lake to use the kayaks. I encourage you to go through the little channel that takes you in to to Big Bass Lake. Owners were very communicative. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place!

The home was clean and well decorated. There were so many toys for the kids to use which was such a great amenity. The lake was great- we fished, kayaked, and swam. The owners were very responsive and helpful. You’re pretty much in the middle of nowhere so cell service was spotty. The only negative was the neighbor was pretty loud but it wasn’t really an issue.Overall our stay was fantastic!
