We recently stayed at the cottage for a wedding. We had our adult children and another guest. The house was a comfortable size and the location was perfect. We could go for walks to the beach, walk into town and on Sunday there was a local farmers market that we walked to! The beds are comfy and for the most part the house was clean. As stated in other reviews, you may want to bring slippers or flip flops as the floors are old and leave your feet a bit dirty. When we arrived the mirror in the half bath was missing and the shower curtain liner was a bit mildewed. The management got there within a couple hours to replace both. There is no air but plenty of fans and with windows open at night there was a decent cross breeze. The neighborhood was quiet so that was not an issue. We did have some dampness, being there during the hurricane, but once the sun came out the house dried right out. Just a note, after reading other reviews we did bring extra face clothes (two are provided) and large shampoo. All in all it was a good experience.
We had an overall good experience and stay at this property. The location is nice for walking downtown and to the beach. The things you should be aware of: -House gets very warm and windows are challenging to open and some windows didn’t have screens. -BARE essentials were provided. Literally two rolls of toilet paper, and three miniature bars of soap. Be prepared to make a run to Pavilions. -The one hand towel provided in the entire home was a bath mat. No washcloths and only five bath towels. No beach towels. -It was nice to have a washer dryer, but be prepared to purchase detergent. -Twin beds and the bed frames they are on are extremely squeaky. -The backyard wasn’t the oasis we expected. It was overgrown and run down. We wouldn’t stay here again.
Real nice. Thank you.
This home was perfect for our family of 5 adults because it had plenty of room and was 2 blocks from the beach so you could go every day to see the sun set! You also could easily walk to all of the restaurants and stores. the house was spacious and comfortable. and we loved sitting in the back yard playing cards and having meals. I highly recommend this home! The owner was warm and personable!
The location of this home was great. Walking distance to the heart of LJ Village, and a very safe neighborhood. The house itself is spacious, has lots of old charm, and is very quiet. We brought our 12mo twins and it was pretty easy to baby-proof. There is a baby gate and pack and play, and any fragile items were easy to move. Here are my reasons for not rating 5 stars: Although the house looked clean, within 20 minutes of walking around, our feet were brown with dirt. Not the best with crawling babies. The cleaning crew just needs to mop. The couch was so heavily febrezed that it was almost wet when we got there. The jute rug in the living room has seen some ware, as expected with a rental, so expect it to get all over your clothes if you’re on the floor. There was only one wash cloth and about a day’s worth of shampoo and no hand soap, so BYO if staying longer than that. Overall, I’d stay here again, but would bring more toiletries and requests the floors be mopped.
The cottage is perfectly located in La Jolla! Walking distance to the beach and shops and restaurants. Very quiet, friendly neighborhood and the cottage is much bigger than expected! Like other reviews mentioned it really has the very bare essentials (salt, pepper, a few extra toilet paper rolls, some travel soaps) — no extras so expect to make a trip to the grocery store/pharmacy once you arrive. We did however enjoy all the extra beach towels and chairs though! The backyard was fabulous and perfect for relaxing. Worth noting, our biggest complaint was the house is definitely on the old side and we had to call guest services twice to fix afed appliances breaking(the heater and front door handle). The paint is chipping all over in the front sun room and only a few of the windows in the house actually open. These were very minor things but it did leave us feeling like the house could use a little modern renovation. Overall, great for our two week family vacation and we would definitely stay again!
Location is very good, short walk to beach to watch surfers and sunset and only slightly further walk to lots of great restaurants and shops.
This house is very outdated. Extremely hot with no air conditioning and since majority of the screens were torn it was fly city if you opened them. Couch smelled awful, doors were missing door knobs, TV remote missing for master bedroom so couldn’t turn it on at all. Sheets were stained, beds caved in when you laid down. Some lights didn’t work. The house next door looked as if homeless were squatting in it. Someone randomly accessed the property during our stay with no notice. Local beach access was NOT kid friendly. The only plus was the washer and dryer with detergent provided, towels and beach chairs being available. Would definitely not recommend.
This place has so much potential. The location was good close to the beach and town but on a quieter street but was such a disappointment. I chose this because of the wonderful pictures of the backyard- It was nothing like the pictures. It was dirty and unwelcoming. There was a ripped cover over the seating and the grill didnt work- We ended up pulling lawn chairs int he front lawn to read. Inside was dark and drab and needs a good can of paint. The bathroom was dirty with mold in the shower. I called property management several times on multiple issues which is not local and they were very nice but nobody ever followed through. I asked for someone to clean the shower- they said they would and never showed and that was the same for every issue, I am not a high maintenance person and dont have very high expectations, but this was not what I expected for the amount of money they charged. They gave you one little (travel size soap for the week and 2 rolls of toilet paper) beach chairs dirty and ripped. Ive really never experienced a rental with such lack of thought.
We stayed in this home for 4 nights at the end of June with 2 teenagers/2adults. The home is spacious and allowed each of us to have privacy. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen had most everything you need and parking was easy for us each day. It’s a cute house and walking distance to a lot in La Jolla. However, the way the house sits and the way it’s shaped did not allow any air flow. There is no AC which you think wouldn’t be a problem with temps in the low 70s, but it was a hot box during the day. None of the windows allowed for a cross breeze. One of the days it was 75 outside and 88 in the house. Vacasa would not provide a portable ac unit unless we gave them $150. We’re from southeast NC and very family with heat but it was stupid hot in that house. We didn’t see any reviews about this so I wanted to make sure people knew what they were getting into.
Cute place, easy walk to beach and downtown. Plenty of room for four adults. Great sushi and brunch places within 15 minute walk.
Great house and neighborhood
As presented in the photographs. Loved the location and easy walking into the village and to beaches. Nice back outdoor sitting area.
Loved our stay here! The home had plenty of towels, beach towels, extra blankets, cooking supplies, beach chairs, umbrella, etc. It even had a pack n play and baby gate - only wish I knew sooner because I’d already brought mine along! The listing did not say it was included and I wasn’t able to contact someone to find out. Sadly, there is a very loud mocking bird in the neighborhood that makes alarm sounds literally all night, so maybe bring a sound machine to drown it out. We also wished that the kitchen had salt and pepper and basic condiments.
