We are applying the CDC recommendations on cleaning the home between guests and have installed an air purification system to reduce the pathogens, allergens, particles, and odors in the air creating a healthy environment. It kills viruses, bacteria, and mold. We spent a great deal of time reading feedback and improving this home over the last few months. I have taken back over the management of the house this year. Your safety is our top priority.
This is a great family vacation home! Bring all the kids and pets to this one. Extra bonus sleeping area in the loft area on the futon. The third floor has a master bedroom (queen size bed) and loft area and futon. Second Floor living area opens out to nice deck with a fantastic view. The first level has a master bedroom with a king size bed, 2 large bedrooms each with 2 sets of bunk beds. The house is four houses back from the ocean on a quite dead end road. There is lots of room for parking. PET FRIENDLY HOME
We absolutely adore this beautiful home with all the touches of being at the OBX, verses a more modern home. This home gives you the true feeling of being at OBX. the home owner was super nice, we had to extend our stay and she worked with us on that! She is very kind, and super conciderate. We will be returning, and staying in this home!
Nice place and good location
The house was a perfect size for all of us (9). There were beach chairs, boogie boards, few sand toys, towels and dishes to use. The walk to the beach was short and easy. The house is dated but still comfortable and homey!
The stairs going up to the third-floor, were unsafe for a toddler. They could have fallen through the spaces. The spindle spacing holding up the railing in the loft were also unsafe ..our toddler could’ve easily fit through them. The bathroom drains were not able to be plugged. None of our children could take a bath. Each bathtub was in need of cosmetic repair .
This beach house is no frills but in fair condition. There have been a few updates, but could use a lot more. House was clean. Linens were well worn, but ample supply. Beds were comfortable. Bath stalls functioned but worn and discolored. Some faucets were replaced but others were squeaky and old - all were functioning. Shower head in masterbath was comical. Some of the floors have been upgraded, others not, like the kitchen floor, which looks original. Overall, the decor seemed heavy. Dramatic full-length curtains in living room and royal blue walls throughout the main level did not feel airy. The master bath had screaming yellow walls. There is a picture on every. single. wall. Its like the family dumping ground for furniture and pictures. Living furniture was fairly comfortable, except the one brown 'massage' chair that didn't work. You had to have a pillow behind your back to make it tolerable to sit there. The kitchen supplies were minimal and not great quality. We stayed two weeks and made most of our meals. The only lighting in the kitchen was over the small kitchen table and the surface light above the stovetop. The kitchen is a good size with fairly new cabinets. Cooking without ample light was really frustrating. We appreciated cleaning supplies left for us. Dishwasher worked fine. During our stay, hurricane Ian blew through. Heavy rains resulted in leaking sliding glass door on upper level and bunk room window. The maintenance person came by to secure the deck furniture and close all the windows ahead of the storm, which we appreciated. Other than the leaking, the house swaying a bit during wind gusts it remained intact. The house layout was funky but that's part of the charm of these old houses, they are unique. I liked that part of the main level deck was shaded. If you don't mind all that stated above, the house was fine. Location was a block from several restaurants and short distance to the beach.
The house was located a short walk from the shops and the beach. Plenty of room for everyone. Clean and hospitable. We would stay again.
I stayed with my family for labor day weekend and we had a great time. Ages ranged from 1 year to 70s, plus our dog.
We had a blast! Lots to do in the area. Loved that ice cream trucks drive around the area. Walk to the beach was pretty close!
It was everything we wanted. Had a great stay.
Amazing time with my children and grandchildren I didn’t find the host very approachable but the place was perfect for us a gas grill would have been helpful and extra out trash cans for trash but aside from that I highly recommend and the Avon area was perfect for us
It was lovely.
Julia is a wonderful hostess. There were renters before us but seems they decided to to not check out on time; hours after the agreed time which caused a back up in cleaning etc. and they left the house in disarray. Julia let me know this but all worked out well with our arrival. Jim, one of her staff members met me at the house and showed me around. Based on her previous renters and what they left, I think all was handled well by Julia and Jim. I have no complaints. Great location, great house for family and overall we had a wonderful stay. Would certainly choose this home or any others Julia has again!
