> - Stream movies or take video calls on the fastest WiFi in the mountains

The Space:

Our cozy retreat has all the comforts of home, nestled right in the center of Historic Harpers Ferry. With its blend of historical charm and modern safety, this Victorian gem promises a memorable and comfortable stay, ensuring you experience both its unique character and modern conveniences in complete comfort. Waverly Cottage is ideal for couples, families, or small groups of friends -- and is the perfect home base for your getaway!

The cottage includes:

- 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds

- 1 full bathroom and the second one is a half bath (full bath located in the master bedroom, 1/2 bath is off the kitchen)

- Two additional pull-out beds, one in the living room (queen) and the other in the sitting room (twin)

- Cute front porch with a bench -- perfect for people watching :)

- Large elevated back porch with two comfy chairs and a bench to relax with a glass of wine

- Fully-stocked kitchen with a stove/oven and microwave

- Central AC and heat to keep you comfortable (please note the AC is currently out of service, but repairs are in the works)

- SmartTV with access to all your favorite streaming services

- Fast, reliable WiFi that’s more than enough to stream movies and hold video calls

- Parking directly in front of the cottage (2 parking passes for your stay)

Much of this Victorian Gem is in its original form and has been lovingly maintained over the last 165 years, from the original 1840s foundation, to the one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted porch trim, gable shingles, and hardwood floors and stone landscaping borders. We hope you will most of all enjoy the historic charm and unique piece of history that this property represents.

Enjoy your mornings or evenings on the balcony, which offers a peaceful retreat with lovely views. Whether you're sipping coffee or simply taking in the fresh air, the balcony is a perfect spot to relax and unwind. To really create an inviting atmosphere, open the doors for a gentle crossflow breeze through the house.

One of the best aspects of Waverly Cottage is the location. We’re surrounded by the boundaries of the National Park (it’s across the street) and literally steps (2 minute walk with steep walking paths along the way) from all of the major sites in Harpers Ferry (less ¼ mile from John Brown’s Fort). We’re also just a short 5 minute walk from the Appalachian Trail. Bring your walking shoes!

Longer Stays

For stays of 14 nights or longer, guests will be asked to e-sign a rental agreement prior to arrival. This agreement helps us comply with local requirements while protecting the property, and will be sent in advance for review.

We often take our three little kids to the cottage, so we're very family-friendly. Unfortunately, we don't allow any dogs or cats in the cottage.

Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!

Our AC is currently taking a little break, but repairs are already scheduled and should be completed soon! Thank you for your understanding—we’re excited to host you and make sure you have a great stay in the meantime.

Beyond Historic Harpers Ferry, we love how close to everything we are! Fantastic hiking trails, kayaking and tubing on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers, and dozens of amazing little shops, restaurants, and wineries -- all within a 20 minute drive.

The cottage was so charming and homey. It was super clean and organized. We had everything that we needed! I would highly recommend staying here! If I had to knock anything which honestly wasn't a knock even would be the parking and the road. Parking on the street was a bit tight but there were no problems. It's a very tiny road. However I felt safe and really enjoyed the home and the town! The host was responsive and communicated very well! Five stars !

The property was only a 5 min walk to Jefferson stone on the Appalachian trail. Unique home. A few maintenance things but we saw a lot of deer in the yard and overall wonderful, relaxing stay.

I loved this old house and the town. It worked great for me and my four grown kids The imperfections of the house due to age just made me appreciate it more.

Very clean, great location. The photos on site need updated to reflect accuracy. Better yet, some repairs and upgrades would increase rating. Broken bi-fold door leaning against wall in master, porch boards sagging, bathroom baseboard needs replaced. Not a negative but worth knowing…parking is very tight on one lane street and no air conditioning.

The cottage is well equipped, clean and cozy, perfect for a couples get away, would book again if returning to HF. The Waverly Cottage was not what we had anticipated, primarily due to inaccuracies in the property's listing and several maintenance issues. While the location was nice, these problems significantly impacted our comfort and overall experience. The most significant issue was the misleading description regarding the bathroooms. The listing indicated two full bathrooms, a key feature in our decision to book for our group. However we discovered there was only one full bathroom and one half bath which led to considerable inconvenience. Furthermore, the shower was in the master bedroom which was very inconvenient for people staying in the other rooms.Beyond this primary concern, we encountered several other issues that detracted from our stay:- The kitchen light flashed on and off constantly, making the kitchen difficult to use safely (we suspect a faulty dimmer switch.). It never worked for the duration of our stay. We notified the property manager, but nothing was done while we were there.-The back porch felt shaky and unstable, raising safety concerns.-Many of the windows had holes in them-Some communication with the property manager was frustrating. I made a request to check in early (knowing that no one was staying in the cottage the previous night because we received an offer to check in early) and after being told he would get back to me I got a canned text later saying check in was a 4:00.-Directions for the wifi were completely incorrect

Our family of 4 stayed in this historic house which was quaint and perfectly located. Walked to get delicious coffee from Battleground and AMAZING dinner experience at The Rabbit Hole. Beautiful hiking and historic sites just steps from the house.

We had a wonderful time in Harper’s Ferry and this house worked out well for our group of four. The location was perfect- close to downtown but still very private and tranquil. The kitchen is well stocked with essentials, the air conditioning kept us nice and cool, and the ease of parking right outside the property was very appreciated. The location made it super easy to walk to all of the historical sites, trails and downtown amenities. The home itself has character and is well loved- our favorite part was sitting on the back porch to watch the many animals such as blue jays, robins, deer, cats and groundhogs. The sunsets were absolutely stunning from there as well! It was our first time to Harper’s Ferry and we truly had a blast. I highly recommend visiting the barn for free popcorn, delicious cocktails and electric and talented live music every night! Bolivar bread company, the rabbit hole and prohibition brewery were also great. Thanks so much for an unforgettable stay!
