Imagine being in a story book round house with turqoise and golden floors, set on 2.5 acres of Sonoran desert facing the Tucson Mountains. Having lived our lives here in the desert, we newly renovated our family adobe block home ourselves, as artists and builders, to capture what we love about the desert and the local culture. It is earthy and elegant, like a yurt inside, one big open and spacious room with a stunning wood ceiling. Only the bathroom is separate with a beautiful Moroccan Tadelakt walk-in shower and claw foot tub. The full kitchen has a Mexican Talavera tile counter top, full sized refrigerator, stocked with all the basics, espresso machine, and many amenities.
The backyard is fully fenced with a ramada for shade, a fire pit, and a propane barbecue.
The desert property is filled with saguaro cactus, and native plants. You can enjoy a meal under the ironwood tree, watching the sunsets or mountains . Perfect for astronomers and night sky enthusiasts as this is a dark sky designated area with the world famous Kitt Peak Observatory less than 50 miles away. Great for hikers with Saguaro National Park trails within minutes , and many cycling and mountain biking opportunities.
The Sonoran Desert Museum is 6 minutes away. Old Tucson , once a Film Studio for over 300 Western Movies , now a theme park, is a 15 minute drive through the park. Iron Wood National Monument is a 15 minute drive to the west for wide open uninhabited desert experiences and hikes with ancient petroglyphs.
Downtown Tucson is only 30 minutes away and Tucson International airport is also only 40 minutes away. The Tucson Mountains separate this home from the city so you’re able to enjoy the peace of the desert yet still “go to town”. Plenty of private parking including trailer and or an RV.

I can't say enough about this wonderful, eclectic, and comfortable house. It is a distance (about 30 minutes) from the traffic and craziness of Tucson, which we appreciated. It is right on the edge of the Saguaro National Park (west), so we had a front row seat to hiking and watching the sunsets. Diane (out host) was welcoming and went out of her way to make certain we had everything we needed. When we did have a question/need she took care of it immediately. We had 2 dogs with us, and she even had coverlets and bowls for them. The fenced in back yard is nice to have for dogs also. This is the most well equipped Vrbo I have ever stayed in. The pans, coffee machines, washer and dryer, etc was very nice sturdy equipment (as opposed to mixers that won't ever chop one ice cube). It was much appreciated.

So happy with our stay at the round house near the end of January. The house is as described and charming. King sized bed was wonderful after a full day hiking & exploring in the nearby national park and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking a meal. We enjoyed the outside fenced patio and yard with our little dog too. Communication with Diane was quick and easy and she was a wonderful host. Thank you for hosting us!

This home is far more beautiful than the pictures can show; it's earthy and artistic, and not in the cliche desert way. The color scheme echoes the desert sunsets, and the furnishings and decor are fascinating as well as functional. The hosts were incredibly responsive, with suggestions about places to eat and things to see, while not being at all intrusive. We came to Tucson to experience the wildlife, and it could not have been better situated for visits to Kitt Peak, Mount Lemmon, and Madera Canyon. Best of all, the Saguaro National Park and Ironwood National Monument were both minutes away, and the surrounding area has areas with water and agriculture, which led to a parade of toads following the first rains of the season. On a related note, the AC is an evaporative cooler; it works differently from a freon AC and requires very dry air to work efficiently, so don't expect it to get as cold inside during monsoon season.

Our family stayed here for one week on a hiking trip in Saguaro Park. There are many trails close by, and the best is, that house is surrounded by the same scenery like inside of the park with saguaro a few feet from the back porch dining table. Weather was warmer than usual, but the concrete floor, brick walls and silver roof kept the house cool. We did not need to run A/C at all. Very authentic and beautiful place. I did enjoy the espresso machine, because coffee is important. We also toured Kitt Peak observatory and Titan 2 intercontinental ballistic missile site museum.I would also recommend driving for sunsets to The Red Hills Visitor Center or Dessert Discovery Trail. After sunset, the sky at the house is so dark, with many stars and there is almost always some satellite visible by plain eye.Host is very friendly and knowledgeable of the surrounding area.

We loved our stay! It was perfect for my husband and I - we loved the unique, rustic aspects with all the necessary comforts. It was so close to the scenic Saguaro National Park, and a short drive into Tucson. We enjoyed sunsets next to an outdoor fire, and wandering through the desert landscapes on property. Diane was a great and helpful host!

My husband and I booked this home for a little get-a-way. The sunsets are beautiful and enjoyed our evening walks. The home was beautiful, spacious, and clean. I loved how everything in the round house was round too! Instructions were easy. Everything we needed to cook with was in the kitchen. We will definitely be back.
