Remarkable, panoramic ocean views catch the eye from this private, original adobe, four-bedroom paradise rich with attention to detail. This Spanish adobe is nestled away atop the foothills of Vista in San Diego's North County. Winding up a long private gated driveway, one finds a secluded Spanish estate on 1.45 acres.
The home, originally built in 1928, exudes charm with its original Spanish tiles, brickwork around the fireplace in the great room, exposed wood beams, and solid wood doors. Authentic California living gives one a view of a unique, private home surrounded by lush landscaping, including an orchard with many fruit trees and indoor/outdoor entertaining areas. At over 3,000-square-feet, this hacienda blends the old with the new. The main house comprises three buildings connected with a loggia (covered walkway). There is an expansive full kitchen in the main house with two ovens and a side-by-side refrigerator, as well as a second full kitchen in the pool area. There is a dining area in the main kitchen that seats up to six people, but you can also enjoy eating alfresco on the terrace off the main living room as you take in the views. There are also two dining areas in the pool area.
The elevated entertainment area features a large BBQ area, a waterfall that cascades through three pools into a tropical saline pool, and a 38-foot water slide. The game room has a pool table, darts, and a 75" TV with a whirlpool tub just outside. With unobstructed westerly views, you can see both Catalina and San Clemente Islands on clear days. It truly feels like you are in your own private resort!
Welcome to Vista, a small, charming Southern California town in north San Diego County. It is noted to have some of the best weather in the USA. Downtown Vista is a short three-mile drive west, where you will find endless dining options for all tastes. But many restaurants will deliver too. Vista is gaining recognition for its large number of microbreweries that you can enjoy. The Moonlight Amphitheatre, two miles away, offers theatergoers a series of four Broadway-style musicals every summer. Four miles away is The Wave Waterpark, which boasts a lazy river, the adrenaline-pumping Slide Tower, the Flow Rider, and a large competition pool for laps. In less than 30 minutes, you can be at the beaches of Oceanside, Carlsbad, or Encinitas. In the other direction, you can be at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park - it's a short 22-mile drive!

Great place for families to gather. Lots of space for mingling. Multiple areas to get together for meals and relaxation. Great pool area with multiple full bathrooms and full kitchen. It's like staying in your own private resort. We have stayed here multiple times; our ongoing complaint is with the VACASA organization. Difficult to connect with the local team. Pre arrival preparation is not up to standard. Pool was filthy, no one came out to clean it. Bugs were everywhere, had housekeeping back out to clean up just about every room and walkway. Took a few hours of cleaning, should have been done prior to arrival. We love this property just wish Vacasa did a better job of taking care of the property.
My family LOVED our stay at Vista Retreat! The views when we arrived were absolutely breathtaking, and we all felt like kids in a candy store exploring the property and all it had to offer. The pool and hot tub area with its own bathrooms, kitchen, and bar were so luxurious we felt like we were in some kind of a movie! The view at sunset is simply sublime, with stunning views of the mountains and San Diego. The bedrooms are all comfortable, clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated, and each has its own bathroom as a lovely suite. We were so thrilled to be able to pick fruit in the morning and make our own fresh juice and breakfast- there were delicious lemons, limes, oranges, figs, apples, pears, avocados, and more! And the home provided absolutely every amenity we needed to relax and just enjoy ourselves. It was such a tranquil and beautiful place to stay, and we cannot wait to return!

The house is very clean and well-stocked. The pool is gorgeous, warm (we paid for heating), and the waterslide is super fast! Checkin and checkout were super easy. The AC in the bedrooms works great and is whisper quiet. There's a kitchen/BBQ right next to the pool that served as our main cooking/bar area. Would easily consider visiting again! Minor issues: - The neighbor's roosters are back (an earlier review complained about this and Vacasa said they had been removed). The chicken coops are right up against the property line and fairly close to the main and downstairs bedrooms. Roosters started crowing at 5 AM every morning. This was a big problem the first day, when it caught us by surprise and woke us up for multiple hours. I contacted Vacasa and let them know - the said they had notified the local team but I didn't hear anything else and the roosters were there for our whole 4-day trip. We got ear plugs and were able to mostly ignore them. Our co-travelers were sleeping in the secondary bedrooms further away and weren't ever woken up by the roosters, thankfully. - The display panel on the hot tub is broken and totally distorted (and one set of seat jets doesn't work), making it nearly impossible to tell what temperature it's set to. When we arrived, it was too cold, then we accidentally set it to way too hot. After fiddling with it for days, I think we got it dialed in but it took a lot of guesswork. - The decking around the hot tub is old and lots of tiny bits of wood are constantly rubbing off and getting into the hot tub. Not great and feels kinda dirty, but the tub itself is otherwise clean. - The water slide is almost TOO fast. Got water up my nose a few times going down it. We had four kids ages 6-9 that were all able to do it and they had a great time, but younger/more-timid kids might be too scared. We had to be extra careful about making sure the bottom of the slide was clear before anybody went down, but the kids were good about it.
This is a gorgeous oasis of a home. Gorgeous and clean bedrooms and bathrooms, luxurious pool & hot tub with stunning views.
After realizing you're staying in a historic Spanish hacienda on one level, you walk up the garden terraced stairs to a tropical rock pool oasis with stunning views - hence the name Vista!! Then moving up to a third level with even more fun in the well equipped game room and giant jacuzzi. This is a property you won't want to leave, but rather hope it goes on the market so you can buy it (hint hint...). I had my most memorable birthday ever as I crossed over into 50 :/ We will be back hopefully next year!!
This was an amazing experience! We enjoyed every moment. Swimming, sliding, picking fruit and juicing, the pool table, gazing out at the gorgeous views. We loved it!! Something to note for people traveling with children. All of the bedrooms are accessed outside. There is a main living area with kitchen, dining room and living room. Covered walkways lead to the bedroom/bathroom combos, but they are not accessible from the main house. This was fine for us because our children enjoyed the set up but it would not have worked when they were younger. There is one bedroom that has a guest bed attached so parents could stay with smaller children in there. The pool area is paradise, i could stay there for days never wanting a thing. Both kitchens are fully stocked. One tip would be having more beach towels. There were 6 for us which was enough but a larger party would want more. Small critique.
List of issues: Vacasa customer service was contacted immediately when we arrived & the following morning. No local staff reached out to us until the 4th day of our 6 day vacation. ***Refrigerator & freezer in kitchen doesn’t work. Vacasa local Mgr admitted they knew about the fridge and decided to wait until we left to replace it. Never letting us know or giving us the option. Complete irresponsible!!! **A/C in master bedroom leaked water & didn’t cool. 80+ degrees in our room entire stay. ***chicken farm directly below master bedroom, roosters will wake you up at 4-5am every morning. * landscape crew shows up at 6am on Tuesday, spraying windows w/ water and mowing & edging right out side each bedroom. * layout not suitable fir smaller children (under 12 yrs of age). Plan on them sleeping with you. 3rd bedroom inns in basement garage and kids will have to exit into driveway or thru garage and up a dark flight of basement stairs if they need to get to parents. *Clogged drain & no running hot water (left knob downer work) in south bedroom bathroom. Shower head is also very corroded & gross ***other than the sheets, the house was filthy dusty. Con webs everywhere. Looks like nobody has dusted. Only changed sheets s a and left. * faucet handle on kitchen sink is falling off * door handle to south living Room entrance fell off when we first entered. Many others very loose. *A/C in north bedroom doesn’t get cold. Can come on but won’t cool room like other A/C’s. * 4th jet on hot tub doesn’t work. Hot tub water was below jet level & filthy when we arrived. I had to clean hair, debris & layers of dirt then as water. We still wouldn’t use it until pool guy came to test chlorine & clean more thoroughly. * We also had to clean all the debris and left toys out of pool. It was finally cleaned on Wednesday but was still filthy upon our arrival. * pool umbrella in the shallow area is noon functional and doesn’t go up and down. Looks like the cord broke and someone tied it back together somehow. Also the end of the umbrella are worn thru and busted out. * on a lesser note…some lights are out on walkway up to the pool & many bushes need to be trimmed back so palm trees aren’t slapping you in face on n main walkways and so you can walk up the stairs to the slide.
House was amazing! Way more than needed for just the two of us but amazing privacy at the pool area and this unique house has it all!
This house is lovely and completely zen. The fresh air and sun lit pool were perfect for our family. The pool was amazing, the view from the pool breathtaking. The kids loved the game room, spent most of their time there or the pool. The living room was cozy and both kitchens were stocked, had everything you would need. Each room had their own bed and bath, each comfortable and with good space. The communication from the property management is so appreciated. Thank you for being so welcoming. We absolutely loved this place and hope to get back real soon!
