HOOD RIVER STR LICENSE #564
We rented this house for a week to attend a family wedding at Mt Hood. Craftsman was a pre-fabricated house sold by Sears Roebuck, and there is a historic catalog excerpt on a main floor wall showing the house. The house is totally charming, has a modern kitchen well-equipped, even a coffee grinder, and an open floor plan and 2 baths. But the wonderful historic details have been respected -- the relaxing front porch, claw and ball tub on the main floor. The house was also well-located... easy walk into town, convenient to 12th st. So much to do in Hood River -- hiking the Columbia Gorge, SUP, kayaking, exploring Mt. Hood. Drew was a excellent host who responded so quickly to any of our questions. I highly recommend this property.
Loved our stay! Highly recommend for families. Convenient to downtown.
We rented this property for our vacation this year and the whole thing was just great. The house was clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable, my husband now wants a memory foam mattress. The neighborhood was quiet. It was a very peaceful stay. Drew is very helpful and we plan on coming back again. One of the nicer rentals we have stayed at.
My husband & I visited Hood River for our anniversary & stayed in this cute house which was walking distance to the town's main shopping & dining area. We slept well- the bed was comfortable & the street was quiet, and we sat out on the porch in the morning with coffee & in the evening with a glass of wine. We loved the old vintage doorknobs & original hard wood floors, but we also appreciated the modern kitchen & Apple TV. We don't have small children, but if we did they would have enjoyed The Children's Park right across the street- it looked like a lot of fun. We had a wonderful trip, and we're so glad we stayed here!
We loved staying at this craftsman bungalow, it is conveniently located, we walked everywhere, it has everything you need including a large kitchen and it has sooo much character: from the front porch with rocking chairs, to the wide plank wooden floors to the stove with river stone surround to the claw foot tub and the adorable room above the porch with skylight. All in all a storybook house, so cozy and pleasant to stay in. We will definitely be back. Upstairs bathroom is small, but it didn't bother us, you can soak in the downstairs bath tub in the roomier bathroom. For us, staying at this house added to the getaway experience.
a few days away with friends lovely home had a wonderful time
Nicely decorated Craftsman Bungalow, very clean, with beautiful wood floors and remodeled kitchen. The location is excellent - just a few short walkable blocks into town to restaurants, shopping, breweries, ice cream, coffee shops and galleries. The children loved the park across the street. The charm of the house accentuated our overall experience while visiting Hood River. We had a great time and will return again.
Very nice place to stay in Hood River. Although the street is a little busy during the day, it's very quiet at night. The cottage is up the hill from the shopping area and not an easy walk either down or back up the hill. We were hoping to be able to walk for morning coffee or late night beer at one of the many breweries in Town but it's not exactly conducive to that. We had to take the car when we went out. The house itself is wonderful with a porch and rockers on the front side. Nice to sit and relax with that coffee or beer!! All in all it's a good place to stay.
This property is close to town and across the street from a park. We had a great time and the owner is very responsive if you need him or have a question. We would stay again!
When we looked for a place to stay in Hood River for the Valentine's/President's Day weekend, we were looking for four things in particular: -- We wanted a place within walking distance of downtown Hood River so that anyone left without a car could easily enjoy the shops/brewpubs/etc of Hood River. -- We wanted a place that would be an easy drive to Mount Hood Meadows for those of us going snowboarding for the weekend. -- We wanted a place with character -- something memorable for Valentine's Day. -- We wanted an owner-managed rental so that we we would be assured that we had easy access if any issues arose. We found all of this in The Bungalow. When I arrived promptly at 4PM on check-in day, I found Drew just finishing up. He gave me the grand tour of the Bungalow. Drew made himself available all weekend for any questions we had. He checked in with us several times via text message to see if there was anything we needed. The Bungalow is nearly 100 years old. It has a ton of character, with hard wood floors, a claw-foot tub, and a gas fireplace heating the first floor. Certainly there are going to be a few issues that come up but Drew was always available to answer our questions and the character of the home was undeniable. When two of us left for snowboarding at Mount Hood Meadows on Saturday, we found that it was 2 right turns and 2 miles to put us on highway 35 and a straight shot to the Mountain. A 45-minute trip without the bumper-to-bumper Portland traffic we would have found on highway 26. Those who did not go snowboarding and left behind without a car found an easy walk to the shops, bookstore, and other attractions of downtown. Overall, The Bungalow was perfect for us on the memorable long weekend in Hood River. Thank you Drew and we will look forward to staying again.
