Big blue is very spacious and feels cozy. The kitchen has adequate pots and pans and the stove top is generously sized. It was great to have cast iron options.
We have stayed at big blue several times and loved it. Not so much this time. The oven didn’t display temperature so baked by guessing. The dishwasher was very difficult to start, and often left part of the soap in the dispenser. Unlikely to come back unless owner replaces appliances.
Loved the location and house. A few problems with supplies, and maintenance.
This was at least our fourth time staying at Big Blue in Neskowin. We have been spending a week each summer in Neskowin for more than 2 decades. I checked before we left to make sure the oven and BBQ were working, since I noticed that they were reported broken in June by a renter. I was assured they were both in working order. The oven only worked on broil and we couldn't get the filthy BBQ to work. A nice person from vacasa came and let us know the oven did not work and showed us how to light the BBQ and suggested we clean it. It had hunks of dead salmon in it. (Smelly!). We were unable to cook the food we brought with us from Seattle. In addition, there were 3 teaspoons in the silverware drawer for 7 people, and 3-4 hand towels for a week. Each year we come it has been worse. For more than $4600 for a week, we would expect working appliances and a spoon for each person. Would love to talk with someone from Vacasa about our rental.
Very comfortable. I couldn’t find a mop to clean floors. Brooms old and broken. Had ants that were in laundry room and traveling up stairwell baseboards.
This well loved house was comfortable and met our needs for space and layout. Location was convenient and neighborhood nice. We would totally book this house again if the things identified below were corrected! We loved the comfort and the vibe. The kitchen was well equipped except the oven did not work correctly (and evidently has not for awhile) and the dishes on the shelves were dirty. There was no propane in the tank so when the oven didn't work we did not have that as an option. The wifi was spotty at best. The toilets clogged on three occasions and had to be plunged. In reading previous reviews and comments some of the same issues that were indicated would be fixed (i.e. carpet as you enter the house) had not been fixed. We contacted VACASA on several occasions and spoke to two managers who said they would call us back and never did. It was disappointing that VACASA did not provide the service and care that they said they would.
Thank you!
We love the size and the layout of Big Blue in Neskowin. The location is great. It was shabby and not as tidy as we remember, which is too bad. We have visited Neskowin for 25+ years almost every year. This was our 3rd time staying at Big Blue. Hope the worn rug in the dining room that trips folks gets replaced so we feel comfortable returning!
We had a great week at Big Blue. Perfect property and perfect location. Our Labrador, also named Blue, had the time of his life and the little yard worked perfect. The photos in the listing appear to be very old from when things were a little fresher and newer. The house feels very lived in which is both good and bad. Cleaning service requires much more attention to detail… overall very good experience
I rented through VRBO and it went well.
This is our 2nd year staying at Big Blue. Four generations together. It’s not a fancy place but it was clean and very comfortable. Equipped with Eve we needed for lots of cooking. The beds are comfortable and there are a lot of them. The deck is great for reading, relaxing, happy hour and the back yard was perfect for corn hole tournaments. Thank you for sharing your home. We will be back!
This was our 3rd year in a row at Blue. We spend 10 days here with our 5 grandchildren. Plenty of beds and space for all, there parents can come visit for a day and there is room for them. Not fancy but very functional. Easy walk to the ocean.
We had 11 people in this house. Nice to have two floors so we weren't tripping over each other.
Highly recommend. Very accommodating house for large family group. The house is comfortable and kitchen is well stocked for big family meals. Close to the beach. The weather was beautiful and the neighborhood picturesque.
My granddaughter was upset about leaving my brother's house in Pacific City. She was having so much fun playing with our newly graduated college student and a cousin from another side of the family. Well, she was upset until she walked upstairs. OMG! I should her the Queen room with the twin bed, the room with the 6 twin beds, the playroom, and the balcony. She was in awe and forgot all about what she was doing earlier. The entire weekend she would show off the upstairs to visiting relatives. The entire house was lovely even for these city dwellers. We initially had a concern because there was no firewood or matches to light the fireplace, and we didn't know what a floorboard heater was. We called the office but no one called back or came by to assist, but we obviously figured it out. It rained most of the time so there was no need to venture out to the beach parks. The only person that cared was me. The corner store was fabulous - get the pulled pork and clam chowder - delicious! The only issue we had was unresponsiveness. First with the issue of heating, and secondly we had an issue with my car. I moved my car from Hawaii and now we live in Vegas. Needless to say, my car doesn't like cold. It kept squeaking and the turning wheel didn't want to turn. We took it to the shop on the last day (Monday); we didn't know how long it would take for the mechanic to figure out the problem or fix it for the long drive home. We called the office again, no response. As I returned, the management came by. I asked if she had received any of our messages, and she said no but she was super nice and understanding. In all, I would definitely recommend this property for any future vacation spot.
This home was so much fun! My family is already discussing when we will return. The beds in this home are SO comfortable, and there are quite a few! It is the perfect distance from the beach, and other area amenities. The neighbors are all very friendly and waved hello when they saw us walking down the street. It is a quirky old house and we loved, loved, LOVED reading about this home, and other surrounding homes, in the history of Neskowin book located near the door. The home could do with a few upgrades and a thorough dusting, but it has an old-school charm that makes it feel cozy. We can't wait to go back soon!
Stay was great, enjoyed our time at the beach. Just a couple comments: Group before us left the garbage can area a mess and we had animals in the garbage every night. Would be good to make sure garbage is in cans or containers between renters. BBQ could use a cleaning. Only 3 forks in the kitchen. Property is excellent location and we will be back. Thanks.
