We loved staying at Karen’s house! The house was clean, the kitchen well equipped and we felt very comfortable. Most of all, it’s very close to Ditch Plains where we enjoyed watching surfers, getting breakfast at Ditch Witch, and playing in the sand with other families. Karen was very responsive and it was very easy to check in. We would definitely stay at Karen’s place again!
Great place, love the throw back mint green and the authenticity of the Leisurama. The proximity to Ditch was amazing. Kids had freedom to bike around neighborhood as so many kids playing on streets (biking and basketball like when were kids.) Backyard space to play. Easy, convenient and stress free vacation. Karen was super easy to communicate with.
Easy living at Leisurama!
If you're looking for an ultra sleek Hamptons rental with modern luxe amenities this is not the place for you; however, if you're good with a retro beach bungalow vibe this might be your spot. The location of this property is amazing. It's less than a 10 minute leisurely stroll to the beach, less than a 10 minute drive to town, Gosman's Point, Star Island, the Lighthouse, horseback riding, and a couple of state parks for walking/light hiking. The house, as advertised, is from the retro Leisurama Lifestyle period, so it’s a little worn all around, but there are some nice additions. The outdoor shower is wonderful, as well as the deck off the back that looks out on a big yard that was great for morning coffee, late night star gazing, and napping in the hammock. In the morning there would be several deer walking through the backyard, which was nice and at night the fireflies would put on a light show. The grill and outdoor table/umbrella/chairs were convenient for some meals at home. There is a 1-person kitchen with a large family room and dining area that we didn't use very much at all, as we spent most of our time out of the house. The beds in the bunk room were newer and comfortable and the bed in the master needs to be updated pretty soon. Having the windows opened and ceiling fans on made sleeping comfortable at night. Communication was excellent, as Karen was extremely responsive to any and all questions before and during our stay. All in all, the location of this property is the key.
Awesome little mid century house in ditch. Great for a weekend away with the dogs and a perfect spot to catch some surf.
We loved our stay in this adorable Leisurama home. Karen, the owner was so easy to speak with and very helpful, making our vacation stay enjoyable, and relaxing. She had for her guests to view, a coffee table book and video, that explains the1960's Leisurama concept. Both were so interesting and informative an appreciated her respect for the importance this home gave to her family, keeping it mostly authentic with additions that made her guests feel comfortable and at home away from home. Loved the location, as it is only a few short blocks to Ditch Plains Beach, our favorite! So glad we discovered this special gem. We would definitely stay in this quaint and lovely home again.
The house was great. Very close to beach and awesome backyard.
Awesome little house with sleeping for plenty. A little outside town, but only a short walk to the beach. I recommend it!
My rsent stay ay Leisurama was just what I needed to get away from the city and take daily walks to the beach.. Karen, the owner went out of her way to make me comfortable and offered suggestions at every turn.
We had a wonderful time at the house. We appreciated that the house is close to its original 1964 design with some updates that kept it feeling fresh. It is not a large house but the layout makes it feel bigger than it is. We stayed with our young adult offspring and never felt cramped. The house came equipped with all we needed - plenty of towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, cable, dvd's etc., a nice BBQ and sweet outdoor area. There is one bike on the property - you might want to bring extra because it's nice to be able to bike back and forth to the beach. That being said, the walk to Ditch Plains was easy. In the morning we'd drive our stuff down to the beach, set up and leave it for the day, parking the car back up at the house (only permit parking at Ditch Beach) and then our family members were free to go back and forth to the house as they pleased. We barely left Ditch Plains - we'd just make a run to Gossman's for fresh fish and vegetables for dinner - didn't even bother going to restaurants. A truly relaxing vacation. We are especially grateful that the rental was dog friendly. Our girl was super happy sitting in the sun and shade in the yard on the attached long lead provided and even happier with her daily beach walks during off leash hours.
