Stanton, Kentucky
Get away from it all when you stay in the barn or under the stars at our Whispering Pines area. Located on the top of Sang Mountain just 10 minutes from the Red River Gorge and 15 minutes from Natural Bridge State Park. This stay is perfect for any couples or friends who want to camp & also have the option of a comfortable bed to lay their head in while simultaneously providing all the privacy & seclusion of a mountain top location! New addition just added over the winter for even more comfort!
We stayed for 4 nights while we had a wedding to attend in the area. Absolutely loved the property, the location, and the area. Our kids stayed in town with their cousins for half the stay, and id say the property was more perfect for just me and my honey, but when our kids were there we didnt feel cramped. Our kids are 9 and 11, but if they had been 14 and 16 idk that i could say the same about space. There is zero reception at the cabin, which i preferred even if the kids thought they might die ? between that, the location, the house itself, and its quaint and cute interior....it felt like we were in the heart of Kentucky ❤️ I will 100% stay again the next time we visit Red River Gorge.
This place worked for what we needed. We were staying for a jeep event. Wish there was cell service, but the other than that it worked.
We stayed for 3 nights. Pros: The host was very responsive. The cabin was cute and clean that came with kitchen essentials and a kcup coffee maker. They provides kcups. There is a DVD player but no DVDs, some channels on cable. A few spiders but no big deal, we are in the woods. Wood was provided but we didnt have time for a fire. Cons: We arrived late with our 2 year old. When we arrived there were some significant safety concerns. We debated leaving but not much else was available last min, late at night and without cell service. We were concerned about the electrical wiring as nothing in the home was done to code. There were several outlets without covers and the breaker panel had incorrectly installed breakers. My husband moved an outlet cover from higher up down to the one near the floor as we have a 2 year old. Another note is that the access in the bathroom to the shower is roughly 12 inches. My husband and I are small people and in order to access the shower, you must step sideways. Unfortunately due to the safety issues, we will not be returning when we visit RRG in the future.
The building is a barn turned into an AirB&B. It’s very basic and rustic but also clean and comfortable. It is very private and the view is very pretty behind the cabin. The only negative that some might have is that the entrance into the bathtub/shower is very, very narrow. My husband and I are smaller built so we were able to step into the shower but a larger person might have an issue with gaining access into the shower. Other than that, it was a very comfortable cabin/barn to stay in.
The property was not kept up at all for any kind of use to be enjoyed! The bathtub was almost impossible to get into and no place o hang used towels! Electrical outlets and ceiling lights were almost a fire hazard! 2 nails were protruding thru the front door into the inside on which my husband got injured by one on his arm and another was head high and dangerous to humans! Sorry but we can't recommend the cabin to anyone of our friends!
We loved our stay here as a preparation for our RRG backpacking trip. We arrived on a really hot day but the hosts left an AC unit and fan on to make sure it would be comfortable. Everything was as listed except there wasn't a DVD player. Sounds silly, but we were actually looking forward to using it and even brought a DVD to watch. There was also a K-cup machine but no K-cups were available. Besides these two things, everything was clean and worked as expected. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were good quality.
