A super quirky & cool place to spend the night in Waco!

Beautiful old house tastefully translated into a fully equipped modern home. Window nooks for reading with your morning coffee.

The bungalow was so well decorated! It was clean, comfortable and perfect for our needs. The area was quiet at night and seemed very safe.

Very cute! We were out and in mostly so did not use much of the space. Joshua was helpful providing a good list of where to go and where to eat. We had a good time.

We only needed the house for one night. It was a very comfortable place to stay and had plenty of room for 5 adults

The perfect place to stay in Waco! I’m actually from Waco and had some friends stay here and I cannot tell you enough about how perfect the location is for this cottage. A very beautiful, quiet walkable neighborhood in historic Castle heights, two blocks from one of Waco’s yummiest restaurants (Harvest on 25th along with many others) and cute shops and just 5 minutes from downtown and all things Magnolia and Baylor! The hosts are absolutely incredible and the home that they have designed for your rest is truly that… a home that is quaint, cozy and restful ensuring your stay is nothing short of exceptional! Kitchen is fully stocked beds are super comfy and parking is plentiful! Would be the perfect place to have a small family gathering or a girls weekend away as it has plenty of places to gather and catch up and it photographs beautifully too! Can’t say enough good things about Josh and Jill and the impeccable attention to detail and care they take of this home! You won’t be disappointed!

This house is an ideal choice for a girls' weekend or for 2-3 couples to share, especially if in either case you plan to spend lots of time in the kitchen. The home's decor is cozy but more beautiful and interesting than what you'll find in the best hotel. The beds are super comfy. The rooms are larger and more spacious than I realized from the online photos. Oh and from here, you can walk to several cute shops and restaurants plus Pinewood Coffee.

The neighborhood was great and we felt very safe. The house was very cozy, beautiful and had great decor. We really enjoyed it.

By far my favorite VRBO home. The hosts were welcoming, helpful, and thoughtfully designed this home. It is as beautiful, comfortable, and stocked with everything you need. The location is in a quiet neighborhood a few minutes away from great restaurants and shopping. We hope to come back again.

Great house - much bigger than anticipating. Amazingly decorated and stocked. Centrally located to easy to get to anywhere in town. The hosts were amazing - easy to communicate with and provided great suggestions for restaurants and things to do.

The host was wonderful to work with. Very responsive. The location was easy to access. The property was in good condition. It is an older property, but it appears to be well-maintained. The reason for a 4-star rating instead of a 5-star is that the property had way too many eclectic items, which were everywhere; it felt crowded that way. For adults, it is ok. We can manage, but if children were involved, I would be constantly worried about things getting touched or broken.

We loved our stay in this cottage. The space was perfect for spreading out and having lots of areas for visiting. The kitchen was well-stocked, the house was clean, and the neighborhood felt safe. The host was very responsive. Great stay, highly recommend!!!

This was the perfect home for our small group of friends to experience a reading retreat! It was spacious; clean; cozy; comfortable; wonderfully decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed. And truly, the space was designed perfectly to feel like the ideal space for a reading retreat. We were so pleased and would stay here again. Thank you for a great weekend!

We are three friends who have known each other for over 50 years. We needed a one story place (one of us uses a cane) with separate bedrooms and comfortable places to sit and visit. This house exceeded our expectations in meeting our requirements and also is beautifully decorated. We had all we needed an more in the kitchen, and house layout allowing us times of privacy and times of gathering.

This was our second weekend visit at English Writer’s Cottage, and it was as wonderful as the first. I just love this house. The neighborhood is great and convenient to everything we wanted to do in Waco. I would not hesitate to stay here again and again.

The house was as described but the experience in dealing with the host was not good. We found a live cockroach on the 2nd night of what was to be a 7 night stay. Even though we only saw 1 we know that usually there are more. We called Josh our host and he said Texas has bugs. Even though he never saw it he said it was probably a water bug, but we know it was a cockroach. We told him that we just couldn't stay there so he apologized and offered to fumigate. We did not want to stay in a freshly fumigated house so he offered another house. We drove across town to see it but we were greatly disappointed. The house we booked was close to downtown, was charming with exquisite furnishings and art, and had quiet cozy rooms and a king bed. This mid mod he offered as an alternative was none of that and was not where we wanted to spend the rest of the week so we declined. At this point he became very defensive and said he couldn't give money back. He threatened us saying that if we gave him a bad review, he would give us a bad review. I told him that VRBO frowns on distortion and is grounds for closing an account. He told me that he is a super host so that wouldn't happen and if it did he would move back into it. By this time I was ready to be done with him because it was getting scary. Much to our dissatisfaction we settled on a refund equal to about 1 nights stay. Josh may be a super host if all goes well but if you have any issues or upset him you better beware.

Neatly upgraded digs in historic Waco with fun furnishings and comfy atmosphere. Enjoyed the experience.

The Writer's Cottage is a beautiful and charming property. The decor is gorgeous - beautiful antiques, interesting artwork and unique accessories. The open kitchen is unbelievably beautiful and functional. It is definitely the central gathering place. The property owners were excellent hosts. We had an issue with the TV and Josh came to the house to take care of it. It was a perfect girls weekend getaway. Thank you, Josh and Jill.

Our group had a cozy and comfortable stay. The home is spacious and perfect for small groups, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The sleeping arrangements were incredibly comfortable. The indoor and outdoor seating areas were fantastic — we loved having the option to relax inside or enjoy the fresh air outside. Overall, it was a perfect place for our group to come together, reconnect and enjoy a memorable getaway. I would absolutely stay here again.

This is our second time staying at this property in Waco! It’s quirky, cute, comfy & eclectic full of the most unique art and furniture! The location is safe & close to everything. The beds are super comfy & the kitchen is fully stocked. Really you have everything you need. Lots of seating for big groups & the hosts are easy to get a hold of and very helpful if you need anything. We will most definitely be back again! Thanks for another amazing stay while visiting our daughter at Baylor!

Beautiful property with exquisite furnishings & art. The home is spacious, has plenty of seating & a fabulous kitchen that is fully stocked to prepare meals. We will absolutely rent this again for future Waco trips! Loved the backyard and we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit!

We are four besties from Dallas spending the Waco who had the best time in this wonderful cottage. We oooh’d and awe’d the entire weekend as we found new things about this home that made our stay extra special. It was perfect for our weekend getaway but we could have easily stay a few days longer. You won’t be disappointed if you decide to spend time at this gem!

This property is wonderfully situated, providing easy driving access to both Magnolia and Baylor, while nestling you in a quaint Waco neighborhood. It was nice to go and do the touristy things during the day, and then return to a cozy cottage at night. The owners are friendly and easy to communicate with. You will be inspired by the decor and unique design choices. This house is the perfect respite after a full day of enjoying all Waco has to offer.

While the furnishings and decor are absolutely amazing, the best part about this house is how easy it is to relax and enjoy time with family. The comfortable, cozy gathering areas lend themselves to late night talks and catching up. The large, well appointed kitchen and island barstools make it easy to stay in and cook and avoid the crowds on popular weekends. Was perfect for homecoming and bringing three generations together for the weekend.

My family and I truly enjoyed our most recent stay at The English Writer's Cottage. This is our 3rd visit and keep coming back because we always enjoy the warmth and beauty of the cottage.

The house was in a great location, the host was quick to reply when questions came up, and we enjoyed the space itself. The AC stopped working on a Saturday night, and the host was able to get someone out to fix it immediately. Such amazing service on all ends! Thanks for a great stay!
