Remodeled in 2012 and completely renovated in 2019-2020, this home provides a rustic and modern feel while relaxing in the country side. Located along a creek bed, this property is within 10 miles of the Shawnee National Forest, with multiple wineries and hiking trails along the way. Being right outside the city limits of Murphysboro, known nationally for its BBQ, and a short drive from Carbondale and SIU (10-15 miles), you will be in an ideal area to see what Southern Illinois is all about!<br>
The space
The highlight of this home is not only the spacious interior, with upgraded appliances and personal touches, but its back yard. Being surrounded by woods, after some rain you will hear the creek flowing at the bottom of the valley. Layers of creek rock line the large firepit. At night, the sky is wide open in the front yard and on a clear night, without the lights of the city interrupting your view, the stars are too numerous to count!

Each of the bedrooms is equipped with a bed, nightstand(s), a TV, DVD player, and storage for clothes and bags (either a dresser or closet). There are 2 full bathrooms which gives plenty of space for 8 guests to share. The kitchen is stocked with everything you should need to get away from the hustle of everyday life. While you're here, slow down, relax, and enjoy the seclusion! There are 3 window AC units and a circular fan as well as ceiling fans throughout the house that keep this home well cooled in the heat of summer.

Wi-Fi is now available at this home! T-mobile is the carrier, and the username/password details are printed out inside the home. DVD's are also provided for your enjoyment.

Murphysboro is well known for its BBQ. 17th Street originated here and Pat's BBQ (also located in Murphysboro) is a fierce competitor, both having received many national awards and recognition. In addition to these restaurants, there are many others that are family-owned in our small (ish) town.

Southern Illinois is also well-recognized as wine country. Starting at this home, you will be at the top of the Shawnee Wine Trail and can hit the wineries one by one. When in season, the fruit from our local orchards are stunning. Nothing compares to a fresh, locally grown peach! Also in Murphysboro: a brewery! Visit one of our many local pubs for a taste!

Kinkaid Lake is only a few miles from this house as well. A must-see while you're in the area: Kinkaid Spillway!

The property was nice. We had no issues at all. The property manager was very accommodating and communicated with us promptly. Definitely a great place to stay if you like the feeling of being at a clubhouse. The cabin itself was nice. It could use a few updates. The front porch and back deck was a little rough looking, but the inside was nice and clean. The one bedroom is huge. You could fit a few full size air-mattresses on there along with the bed, and the bathroom attached is also huge. We would definitely recommend staying there.

We were in town to fish Lake Kincaid and the property was a perfect place for us to stay. The driveway was large enough for us to park our vehicles and boats which was really nice. It is the perfect location being out of town just a bit. Thanks again!

Great getaway for friends to hang out and lots of trails around to walk and plenty of national forest to explore in area. There isn’t a-lot of places to eat close by but with full kitchen and grill out back by fire pit you don’t have to go out to eat all the time.

This place was great for our girls winery weekend. Quiet and had everything we needed. The jacuzzi tub was a nice bonus!

Pictures doesn’t do justice on how beautiful the backyard is. The fire pit, the string lights along the wooded area, the iron Sasquatch was perfectly placed in the way back along with a grill and chairs. The back deck was nothing but perfect with a patio set and ceiling fan hung in a shaded area. Everything was perfectly placed in the house with just enough decorations to not make it overly decorated with clutter. We was excited there was stuff to make s’mores when most houses you have to bring that. The scenery to get here or into town was hills, curves and hollers with lots of stuff to see along the way. The drive into town was a short distance. There was a little and I mean little downfall.. The main bedroom wasn’t staying as warm as the rest of the house. We didn’t freeze but it was chillier than the rest of the rooms. We was there when it was 50 degrees now if it had been 30 then it would of been a issue probably., Don’t miss out on this property because it was everything and more. Beautiful! And we even got the key code WAAAYYYY earlier than check in time when most rental properties on VRBO give you it 1 hour before check in. We wasn’t planning on arriving till 6:00 so time wasn’t a factor on this part but it was still nice of her to do that since other people was arriving at different times. Will book again! Thank you Ashley! ❤️

The house was perfect for our hunting trip. Loved the back porch and the privacy. We would stay here more throughout the year if dogs were allowed.

The property was great and beautifully updated. It was very clean and had such a nice welcoming feel to it. The location was perfect for the wine trail!! All wineries were a short distance and easy drive. We'd definitely stay again!!
