Cozy Pensacola Getaway Home

I rented this home for a month-long stay in Pensacola while my newborn granddaughter was in the NICU. Traveling alone, I needed a safe, clean place to cook and do laundry for my family. Unfortunately, I did not feel safe here. The neighborhood felt sketchy when I arrived, and an RV was parked directly behind the house with people sitting outside, close enough to see into the home’s windows. This made me feel exposed and uncomfortable from the start.I asked the owner if I could check out early due to safety concerns, but was told I could leave with no refund. VRBO repeated the same message. I stayed only because losing over 2,500 was not feasible.Inside, I found silverfish in the pots and bathroom sink, broken blinds, stained furniture, and lamps without bulbs. When the heater failed during freezing weather, it took two days to repair, leaving the house at 59 degrees. The owner did offer to bring in space heaters and gave a 40 gift card for the inconvenience. The most alarming moment was when police knocked on the door looking for a felon. Later that same night, I returned from the hospital to find the front door unlocked and slightly open. I no longer felt safe staying in the home. I slept at the hospital and ultimately rented another property, leaving 16 days early.Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this rental to anyone, especially solo travelers.
