The house was wonderful. It was great to have the river out the back door. The trains running by weren’t too loud. The host was very helpful and great communication when we contacted him. Dunsmuir is a cute little town.
The cabin was perfect for our annual flyfishing trip. Not only could we fish out the back door, but it’s very close to many wonderful rivers. Cabin was clean and comfortable, and just as described. Property manager was terrific. I would happily stay again.
Overall great property. Well appointed interior and kitchen had all we needed. The large back deck a real plus. Nice to have the second sitting area in loft. Owner very responsive..
Place was perfect for our stay. Was just as listed.
Mike is a great host! He responds very quickly and is accommodating to anything you need. The Log Home looks and feels like brand new! We loved the interior design and the floor planning! The place is super clean and well kept. It has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing getaway. The Log Home looks exactly the same as the images online. Very spacious and has a lot of extras. You can dip into the Sacramento River anytime and enjoy it's melody by relaxing on the big porch. The train was passing by just couple of times a day and didn't bother us at all. This place is very close to Mt. Shasta. Highly recommend this property to anyone!
It was lovely to stay at a well-cared for log cabin with sounds of the rolling river. The trout are definitely biting!!
Very impressive home the Sacramento river runs along the back of the property. Lots of historic sites.
Great house and area. Town pretty much walking distance. Great place to enjoy some time with the family.
Mike : Thanks we really enjoyed our stay. TonyC
Cabin has everything you need. Great fishing spot
Great all-around experience.
the property is well maintained and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was very well equipped for a thanksgiving dinner. The only shortcomings were the low-intensity lighting in the bedrooms and the limited hot water in the second floor bathroom. I would recommend it to others.
The log home was clean, easy to find a very close to Town. The neighbor is a Fly Fishing guide & took the time to show us some of the fly's that were biting. Overall it was an excellent trip! I would certainly love to stay there again.
The location is between the RR tracks and the river. The trains do not use the horn at night. I love hearing the trains so the frequency did not bother me. You can walk into town from the house. We rented during the heat wave (104+ degrees) , no central AC, but LP portables in the two living spaces, wall units in each bedroom , portable fans, and a ceiling fan. The units did a decent job trying to keep up with the heat wave. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs so if anyone has mobility issues, it is easier to stay downstairs as the spiral staircase may be a challenge. The upstairs bathroom is small and it does get hot even with the exhaust fan running. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to cook in. Plenty of spices and herbs to cook with. If you want to eat out there are a few restaurants in Dunsmuir, but check their schedule as some are not open every day and most close by 8pm. We left on a Saturday and some of the shops in town were not open by 11am/12pm. Many shops have closed their business since we have been coming up the last 8 years, but there are plenty of outdoor activities to do in the area. My BF is a Fly Fisherman and he spends a lot of time on the river. The upper Sac river and Castle Craggs are beautiful places to explore.
We just loved the log cabin in Dunsmuir. The booking and check-in were very easy. The swimming/fishing hole (Sac River) is just across the backyard and down a little rocky path and has a nice small gravel beach. Great hole for fishing - I observed a fly fisher catch &release a beautiful rainbow trout. The house is spacious and comfy, has a spiral staircase to the second floor. It was extremely hot weather when I was there the last weekend in August, but the house is well equipped with AC units that can keep up. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, utensils, and many kitchen goodies like herbs and spices. We liked it even more because it’s an easy walk into Dunsmuir. The train goes thru the middle of town, honking and squeaking loudly, kind of interesting and historic I thought, however one of us required earplugs to sleep thru the night. We would rent this property again.
Loved the cabin, super clean, organized, had everything we needed and more. Wonderful kitchen with all dishes you need to basic needs. Very nice quality furnishings. Loved the access to the river. Checking in and out was super simple, all instructions clearly spelled out. We were there on a very hot weekend and the portable AC units kept the cabin very nice and cool. We will definitely go again.
From the time we entered the front door we realized that excellent care has been given to this beautiful well built log cabin in Dunsmuir, CA. All details were thought of to make our stay complete...spotless interior, well chosen furnishings, and completely stocked kitchen. The baths on each floor make it ideal for two couples to have privacy when needed. Deck faces the Upper Sacramento River and at rear of property there is easy access to a wonderful section of the river. Yes, the trains do go right by the front of the property at all hours of the day& night, so sleep can be challenging at times. That's was to be expected as the owner did highlight the cabin's location. Even with that, the railroad town experience was all part of what was a wonderful stay in Dunsmuir in beautiful log cabin on the river.
We really enjoyed the house and ability to walk to the river to fish. Two adults and two twenty yr olds and we all had our own space. Will consider renting again.
