Payson, Arizona
Just a 90 minute drive from Phoenix in the heart of rim country, you will find this little gem. With the East Verde river running all around you, many hiking trails, rivers and lakes nearby, it is a fisherman and nature lovers dream. Nestled in the trees and backing to the Tonto forest, in the highly sought after Whispering Pines neighborhood, you’d never guess you were just minutes from restaurants and shopping (10 mile; 20 min drive into Payson)!
BRAND NEW MINI SPLIT COOLING & HEATING SYSTEM INSTALLED JULY 2021!!!
Calendar updated through May 2022. For bookings beyond that, please message host to inquire about specific dates.
We welcome small to medium dogs (with a $30 pet fee), however we ask that you keep them out of the lower level of the cabin and suggest that you keep them leashed or close by at all times when outside so that they don’t run off and get lost in the forest.
On any given day, you are bound to see (& hear) many different forms of wild life including elk, rabbits, hummingbirds, hawks, coyotes, bobcats, a myriad of birds, and free-range cows to name a few. And the fishing in the East Verde river - just a 5 minute walk away - is out of this world...fully stocked with trout all year round! Please note that the water level in the river is lower this year (2021) - and in some parts dry - due to the drought that AZ has experienced.

Other things to note
For half of the year, there are federal fire restrictions in place - which means no camp fires. However, there is a private propane fire pit for our guests to use throughout the year - just bring your own propane tank and hook it up. During burn season, we leave a wood burning fire pit out for our guests to use. We just ask that you be sure the fire is completely out before you head in for the night.
The driveway can accommodate about 5 medium size vehicles if you park side-by-side and back-to-back - there is a small inlet in the right of the driveway that can accommodate a small to medium sized vehicle.
Early check-in and late check-out may be available for a $15 fee and must be approved by host in advance of your stay.
As we wish to be able to continue to share our cabin with others, please respect our home as you would your own. You may be charged for any damages incurred during your stay.

Parking is a bit tight but we’ll worth the location, wish they stocked coffee but other than that it was wonderful place to stay and would definitely consider staying again
3 days of peaceful cozy bliss. Would definitely recommend!
It's a great two story cabin located on a hillside. Easy to get to and the owners provide excellent instructions on how to operate everything and shut it down when leaving. Very reasonably priced as well.
This was our third time renting this property and as in prior rentals everything was perfect. This time there were still small piles of snow around the area which gave my grandchildren the first time ever to throw a snowball !! Woke the next morning to 4 elk in the backyard and many multicolored birds.
Location and timing was everything for our trip! It was a perfect little cabin tucked into the snowy hills. Quiet neighborhood that allowed for a peaceful and relaxing stay. Beds were comfy and wood stove kept us all warm and toasty.
We had a great stay and enjoyed the time with family. Beautiful location.
The cabin was nice and peaceful. Perfect for a getaway into the mountains. The property was easy to find with the directions, cabin was clean and comfortable. The hosts were very responsive to our messages and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay.
Overall fantastic experience, cabin had everything thing we needed
Everything was great, the location was central to our needs for hiking, fishing, and firewood cutting. The propane heater on the deck was great for extending our outdoor enjoyment. Owners checked in to make sure everything was good after our first night. We would definitely stay again!
This is the second time we've rented this property and it just reassured what a wonderful time we had on both occasions. The cabin is wonderful, the hosts check in to make sure everything is perfect and it was. Our grandsons enjoyed tremendously, my wife and I Sat for a couple hours both mornings and watched all the beautiful birds and squirrels that came basically right up to the wrap-around deck. Thank you for the use of your cabin. We look very forward to our next visit
My son and I went up to get out of the heat of Phoenix. The cabin was stocked with everything you could want. Upstairs master bed was super comfy. Location was perfect, little tricky with the parking but we figured it out definitely not a deal breaker. Communication with the owners was easy with quick responses. Will look for availability on our next mini getaway. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home.
We had an amazing time with our family. I would definitely recommend it.
Great location for Water Wheel and 2nd crossing adventure, Washington Park (Highline Trail, so beautiful), and about an hour away from Woods Canyon Lake. We enjoyed our stay!
My family and I had a wonderful weekend full of fishing, laughter, and relaxing. Thanks for allowing us to feel at home and enjoy ourselves.
This is a homey , roomy cabin that the owners use and rent out through VRBO. They have all kinds of utensils, amenities, bedding and supplies. It's a 2 story cabin with indoor and outdoor stairways and an expansive deck. We enjoyed the creek and trails very nearby and had more room than we needed in the cabin. It was a very nice trip.
