This unit is on a working Llama Farm. All units are cleaned after every guest and the bedding is changed. There could be some dust or even some cob webs, as I do my best to dust and spray for anything. I live in all of the units and I have family members come a lot, so I want to keep it bug free and clean free. Once again, its a WORKING Llama farm, and sometimes you'll have these unexpected things. If a bug or spider web freaks you out, maybe this is not your adventure.
This resort is beyond words. The converted barn was perfect. The llamas were incredible only matched by the Great pyrenees Shepard that roamed the pastures. Nice quiet* location while not being far from civilization. 10/10 Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend. * train comes through a few times a night. Not too bad though. lol
This is a special place. You’ll be seemingly secluded on a peaceful farm yet still so close to all the best Southwest MI beaches, wine country, and small towns. Robert’s setup will give you an awesome experience! Can’t wait to come back!
The Red Barn is a cozy place perfect for 2 adults for a short getaway. Check in was easy and Robert was very helpful with local information.
Fun and Creative
My husband and I appreciated the interesting llama farm and the wonderful owner who showed us around. Robert was super friendly and accommodating! The farm is right on the Singer Lake 43 mile bike route If you are avid cyclists. The rentals are a bit quirky, but work well if you have pets to bring with you. There is lots of land to roam!
This was just what we needed! In the morning, drinking coffee on the porch. We couldn't get enough of hanging out with the llamas in the afternoons. They are so gentle and freindly. Robert is so accomadating and even suggested some great restaurants and beach spots. We stayed in the red barn, and loved its uniqueness. Northwinds Llama farm is a hidden gem and a special place.
The loft barn at Northwinds Llama Ranch is charming. We had a relaxing 3 days, exploring Harbor Country, its resturaunts, shops and beaches. Host Robert introduced us to his Llamas, and it was lovely to be away from Chicago and out in nature.
It was not an average place. This old barn is nicer than pictures show. It is slightly more rustic in amenities like kitchen and bathroom, but the art and rugs upstairs are beautiful; and of course outside there are llamas. There were other people staying on the property in other buildings while we were there but nothing intrusive. Can't beat the location if you are going to Warren Dunes. It's mere minutes from the beach and restaurants downtown Sawyer.
We left this morning, and we are already missing it terribly. This is a very special place -- relaxing, beautifully appointed (with a wonderful mixture of elegant and kitschy), and in a location that's convenient to everything (Indiana Dunes and Saugatuck area are easy day trips as well as nearby Warren Dunes). Close to hiking, beaches, woods, charming small towns. It's also great to hang around the property, stroll the grounds, visit the llamas, and talk with owner Bob, a wonderful host who will grant your privacy or allow you a glimpse of his fascinating life. Highly recommended; but be aware that it's a farm! It's rustic in all the best ways.
We had an excellent stay at the llama farm. Llamas were abundant, as were cats and great pyrenees, all friendly and hanging out together. The property was beautiful and well-maintained with plenty of room to walk our pup. The barn itself was very large, cozy and comfortable. There were grills and a great outdoor seating area, and the dual ac units came in handy over a hot weekend. Very close to weko beach and warren dunes state park and only 35 minutes to indiana dunes state park. Excellent hiking and beaches at all the above, but the farm itself has plenty to offer.
