Booked this house for parents weekend at University of Delaware. I would not want others to be in the situation we were so I would suggest looking up the address on Google earth first. It is located on a very busy road with a gas station directly across the street and a bodega on the corner. We actually left 2 hours after we arrived because we did not feel safe. The owner showed up and was confrontational and defensive rather than acknowledging our feeling unsafe. House itself was not bad on the inside. Bare bones provided and I would suggest bringing your own towels and cleaning supplies. Pictures show quilts and shams on the beds but were not there in person. I have stayed in many VRBO’s and most hosts leave welcome baskets, condiments i.e. salt, pepper, sugar packets etc. Not here and not even a full roll of paper towels. Host not willing to refund any of the money which I’m not surprised however how can you charge us a cleaning fee when we were not even there for 2 hours. Says it sleeps 6 yet only 4 forks, knives, spoons, cups, and plates. Didn’t even look to see if there were pots/pans etc. Have learned from my experience and will be sure to read all the reviews on the place before booking next time.
This little gem was so nice! It was centrally located to family whom we were in town visiting and close to the interstate. Very easy to get to. The main street is busy, but we didn't even notice inside (no road noise or neighbor noise at all). Inside was updated and modern. We really enjoyed our stay!
Upon initial entry, the unit was nice. I did not notice until later in the evening that neither the fridge or AC worked. I immediately reached out to the owner that evening and she responded quickly. She sent someone the next day but neither issue was corrected. The owner offered to give me a $50 refund and I let her know that was not acceptable. It turned into her never responding again and I had to reach out to VRBO. They said they could not issue a refund because I did not contact them first. At the end of the day, I had food that was wasted and it was too hot for my son to stay there as he had an asthma attack the first night. VRBO also contacted me and asked me to stop contacting the owner. VRBO nor the owner assisted me appropriately. I do not recommend the area either.
We had a lovely stay at this comfortable updated house. The owner was helpful and flexible when we asked to adjust our dates the week before our stay. There is a beautiful park nearby and a great cafe around the corner.
Check in starts at 4pm…. When renting this home make sure to check all windows… we checked them and the two back room windows were not lock. The living room right hand window would not lock as well. So this immediately started to raise red flags security wise with sleeping through the night and leaving our property while not in the home. I sent the owner a message and his response was to send me a bill for every extra person I had. Not knowing the process with VRBO I did not call them afraid of retaliation from the owner again. The house was super clean very well kept the only down fall was the security of the home and the no response from the owner. I called VRBO a day after my check out…. VRBO told me that if in the future I encounter this again to call them as soon as possible and they will relocate you immediately versus talking to the owner …. Hope this helps you when choosing this home.
