The House Slip into the Bajan groove at One Battaleys Mews, a Colonial style townhouse combined with contemporary décor and high-tech comfort just a few minutes' walk from one of the best-known beaches on Barbados, namely Mullins Beach. Here you’ll find the renowned Mullins Beach Bar & Grill, water sports, sun-bed hire, a children's play area and a small beach shack with assorted drinks, snacks and other items for sale and beds and parasols to rent Though within easy reach of the restaurants, shops, and entertainment of the West Coast of the island, Battaleys Mews feels private and tranquil, tucked into a quiet neighbourhood in the parish of St. Peter. Surrounded by exotic gardens, the mews abound with indigenous plants and One Battaleys is one of a handful of privately-owned properties within the estate. This three-bedroom house with its recently refurbished rooms keeps a 'home from home' feel while staying contemporary and practical. Alongside the very well-equipped kitchen, the open-plan living area has AC and contemporary seating and a large dining table for eight. There is a ground floor washroom, and the house has a terrace with a gas BBQ, ample seating, alongside the non heated Jacuzzi plunge pool with the 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs. Parking for three cars is on the driveway. The main bedroom has a large en-suite with bath and walk-in shower and balcony seating while the second and third bedrooms share a shower bathroom. Bedroom three has twin beds that can be joined to make a third double. We also have a robust folding single bed which can be provided by prior arrangement. All bedrooms have sensor-controlled air conditioning and all the windows have blinds and mosquito grills. The mews have a security and administration office within the clubhouse. Our housekeeper of five years, Tricia, is on hand and pops by every few days and can recommend on any trips or excursions, babysitting, chef or whatever you may need, as can we and recommend and point our guests in the right direction to find out more. AT A GLANCE Opposite: Mullins beach with sun beds available to rent; excellent for swimming, water sports and long walks before breakfast. Try - Mullins Bar & Grill which is on the beach and serves food for a more casual lunch or drink at as the sun sets, though it is now managed by the Westmoreland Hotel and non guests need a day pass (approx US$15) or try Bombas Beach Bar, a short stroll north of the beach. Holetown - is just 10 minutes by car to the south and has many fine restaurants, a large well stocked international supermarket and the Limegrove shopping complex. Speightstown: is 5 minutes to the north and has a supermarket, banks, and restaurants. This is our second stay at One Battaleys Mews and we're already thinking of booking again. Everwhere is spotless and Tricia the housekeeper is lovely and very pleasant. We would recommend eating in some of the less known local restaurants: Bombas do a great catch of the day (go for the blackened fish), R & JJ's (Real Jamaican Jerk) for jerk chicken, catch of the day and their curries are delicious too. Adrian's Bar on Mullins Beach is also a must, particularly on band night, where you can enjoy cocktails and music whilst supporting the local community and watching beautiful sunsets. We also used Calypso Cruises for a lovely day on the water, who provide a very personal service (our glasses were never empty!), great food, snorkelling and swimming too. Of the larger restaurants, Local & Co scored best for us, but they are more expensive than Bombas and R& JJ's.
Excellent property with beautiful Clubhouse and pool / playground which we used almost daily. Theresia took very good care of all our needs especially when the washing machine broke down.. We were allowed to use another machine in the estates until ours was fixed. We enjoyed the daily visits by the monkeys.
We had a lovely stay in this house, even getting a visit from the local monkeys one morning! The house itself is spacious, clean and well kept. The service and support pre and during our stay was excellent. We would definitely come back.
Very spacious inside. Had everything you could think you would need. Exceptionally clean. Beds really comfy . 5 minute walk to the beach. Pool area was 200yards up the gated drive. Very clean. The only thing that didn’t suit us was the small garden at the back that didn’t get the sun , although small side garden did in the afternoon. No complaint overall and I would highly recommend.
The property and house are gorgeous. It was a super close and easy walk to beautiful Mullins and Gibbs beaches and fantastic restaurants. Flawless trip. Can’t wait to return.
A very comfortable property in a good location with two excellent nearby restaurants. Trishcia, the local rep could not have been more helpful. A 5 minute walk to the beach and amenities, a bit of a climb back from the beach and it took me about 8 minutes ( given that I am fairly old). I hired a small car for most of the 2 week period which was used for outings , trips to the supermarket in Holetown and travel to further restaurants. The Fishpot in Speightstown was my favourite. Plenty of kichen equipment, however as I found usual in rented properties the non stick pans were not such any longer. Good wifi in the lounge area, not so fast upstairs
My family and I stayed over the Christmas holiday. We found the house to be great. it was a short walk to the beach and a few restaurants near by.
Our stay at One Battaleys Mews was overall most enjoyable, set in glorious grounds with excellent facilities. The ground staff were extremely friendly adding to the this relaxing holiday. We experienced a difficult start to our vacation with the loss of electricity (2days) and water (5days) due to problems with the utility companies. However, the owner (Paul) was outstanding in his support and effort in finding a speedy and satisfactory solution. Our housekeeper was also outstanding during these first few days of our holiday. The house is located in a small gated complex with plenty of space to roam or lay by the pool. It is only a 10 minutes walk away from the beautiful beach at Mullin’s bay . One Battaleys Mews is well appointed with a full range of facilities for guests use and enjoyment . Overall a thoroughly recommended holiday.
Immaculately presented and quiet, house ideally located on West Coast and for beautiful Mullins beach. Also should not underestimate the proximity to the garage for provisions day to day
The villa was as described. It was clean, well equipped and relatively secluded but still within walking distance to the beach, some local shops and bars. There was loads of useful information from the owner before we arrived about the property, local amenities and the island. Last but definitely not least, our housekeeper Tricia was excellent. She was friendly, visited regularly cleaning throughout and giving more local advice. I would definitely recommend staying there.
