South Haven, Michigan
Close to Downtown South Haven - 1 Mile from South Beach
This comfortable, very accessible home sleeps 6 comfortably, or 8 with a queen-size inflatable mattress (provided). The home includes three bedrooms and 1.5 baths. There is a master bedroom on the main floor with a queen bed and large closet. Upstairs are a large bedroom with two twin beds and a small bedroom with a full bed. The upstairs bathroom has a shower.
The house has been remodeled so all the essentials are on the first floor, making the main floor very accessible. There is stair-free access to the back door entrance with a ramp from the garage to the backyard deck. The kitchen has a wide corridor; at one end is a breakfast nook with a bay window overlooking a ravine and a slider leading out to the deck. This is our favorite gathering spot in the house, and we often have 4 or 5 people sitting at the table while another 3 sit by the bay window. The living room is light and airy with picture windows overlooking the ravine and the front yard. The main floor bathroom is large with a shower and a separate tub great for bathing children after a trip to the beach, and a heated tile floor that's great on chilly mornings. A laundry room adjoins the downstairs bathroom.
The backyard deck has a wooded feel and is perfect for entertaining 8-10 people. The main entrance is in the back and there is lots of parking for up to 5 vehicles. The yard is small and landscaped with a variety of gardens and plants. There isn't a lot of room to play, enough to fit in a game of bean bag toss or horse shoes. However, there is a small park just a hundred yards away (Hartman Park) with grassy areas for playing ball or frisbee, grills and picnic tables.
The home is very conveniently located in a quiet residential neighborhood just a few blocks from downtown; far enough from the beach to avoid the noise and traffic, but still close - it's a short walk to downtown and the Kal-Haven Trail is just a mile away, perfect for runners and cyclists. The South Beach is also one mile away. We drive there with our 5 and 7-year-old girls; adults and older children can walk (or bike) there in 15-20 minutes.
My wife and I grew up in South Haven, and now we love sharing it with our children and our guests. Lonely Planet recognized the fun and beauty of the Lake Michigan shore: 'A mere 30 miles away (from Grand Rapids) sprawls Lake Michigan’s Gold Coast, perhaps the USA’s most unexpected beach getaway. Some argue that these shores rival Hawaii’s and Southern California’s. Along 300 miles of seemingly endless beaches lie sugar-white dunes, wineries, antiquing, U-pick orchards and berry farms, cider houses, Hemingway haunts – you can even go surfing. In Michigan! So if you never thought you could head to the Midwest for a Cape Cod-esque beach vacation, think again.'
Very nice property within walking distance of town.
The house is very nice and the location is excellent. You can walk to the downtown area but the property is away from the main avenues of traffic. The property also includes bikes and beach equipment if needed. I highly recommend this place especially if you have a family.
Everything you need for a pleasant stay. This quaint home located near beach and downtown has well equipped kitchen, nice outside space for dining or game playing, fire pit, grill. Garage has beach toys and assortment of bikes. We enjoyed our stay.
Great location for walking/ riding bikes or just relaxing. Very quiet neighborhood with lots of squirrels and birds. We loved it and will probably return next year.
This property was everything we hoped it would be - cozy, clean, great location, tons of amenities! There are lots of little touches that made our stay outstanding. There's a fully stocked kitchen, fans in all the bedrooms, ice maker, all the little things that make a house home-y. We walked into downtown a few times and drove to the beach every day. We would definitely stay again!
A well maintenance house in a quiet neighborhood providing convenient access to shopping , restaurants and beaches.
Very satisfied with our stay at this property. The house had everything we needed for cooking, grilling, and exploring South Haven. Communication with the owner was clear and quick. The downstairs bed and bathroom was great for my older father, and the kids enjoyed having their own space upstairs with me. I would definitely recommend this property.
Everything you need to enjoy a South Haven getaway. Kitchen and laundry well stocked with essentials. Large bathroom/laundry on first floor. Upstairs rooms are quintessential Michigan cabin vibe. Quick walk to shops, restaurants, farmer's market. Ample parking. Worked well for our family girls weekend. Would rent again, especially at this price.
The property and house were very nice and most of South Haven's attractions were within walking or biking distance.
House was nice the location was good. Unfortunately the weather was not good all week with rain and cool. Sunday night when we got there the electricity went off for eight hours. We had no phone service. There were no flashlights that worked in the house. We were using our cell phones for flashlights but all our cell phones were running low on power. There was a tornado in the area but we did not know that since we had no way of communicating with anyone.?
