The Bike Path Bungalow was new to the vacation rental market as of June 2017. We have recently remodeled and restructured this house, so everything is new, all the way down to the windows, flooring and kitchen cabinets! It shares a 2 acre lot with our home, but you will have plenty of privacy and your own yard.
The exterior features an accessible ramp and a large deck that has plenty of space for outdoor eating (grill available) or for soaking up the famous rain-shadow sunshine. There is yard space for privacy and a fire pit for a special place to gather in the evening for a few s'mores before bedtime.
The interior has a bright, open layout that combines the kitchen, dining and living room areas in one large space. There are skylights that bring in even more light. The new gas fireplace in the living area gives you a place to relax after a hard day of vacationing and recharge yourself for the next day. The well-equipped kitchen has a regular sized refrigerator, an electric range, a microwave hood combination, and a dishwasher as well as plenty of counter space. We have tried to equip it with everything you might need for cooking, but we also can lend you just about anything you don't find there. The main bedroom is large and airy and has a king sized bed that is actually two extra long twin beds that can be separated if needed (extra setup and bedding fee). There is a small but mighty bunkroom suitable even for adults with sturdy built in bunks that have extra long twin mattresses and removable rails. In addition there is also a full-sized futon in the main living area that sleeps 2 kids easily or 2 adults cozily. ;-) The bicycle themed bathroom has a shower and the vanity has double sinks.
We have a full sized portable crib, and a booster seat with a detachable tray available for you to use, as well as a box of toys and some yard toys if you are traveling with children.
There is a Spacemaker unitized washer and dryer in the bungalow for your use (so you can pack lighter!) and we provide the detergent and dryer sheets.
We think our location on the Olympic Peninsula is a perfect starting spot for your vacation. The Bike Path Bungalow is about half way between Sequim and Port Angeles so day-trips are easily made to Port Townsend or Poulsbo to the east or to the west you can easily visit all the diverse areas of the Olympic National Park (Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, Sol Duc Falls and hot springs, the Hoh Rainforest, and beautiful Rialto and Ruby Beaches on the Pacific Ocean). Our summer days are long here and Victoria, BC with its old world architecture and world famous Butchart Gardens is just a ferry ride (passport necessary) away. You might even spot a whale or two on the ride over!
The feeder bike path on the edge of the property leads directly to the Olympic Discovery Trail, which is a short 1/3 mile away. Bike rentals are available in both Sequim and Port Angeles.
This area is famous for its beautiful lavender farms and two of the best are nearby! Victor's Lavender Farm is less than 1/2 mile away and Washington Lavender is less than 2 miles. The Agnew Grocery and Feed Store, less than a mile away, feels like a wonderful step into the past and is a great stop for basic groceries. They also have a great wine and beer selection, as well as wine tasting on Thursdays!
We have a lot of tourism information in the Bungalow, as well as hiking and sightseeing books for the area. We are always happy to answer any questions you might have when planning your trip.
If you haven't been to the Olympic Peninsula before you are in for a visual treat. Bring your camera and be prepared to use it. From the lavender fields to the mountains, the rainforest to the ocean, the beautiful pastoral scenes to amazing views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and gorgeous Lake Crescent, you will be amazed at the variety of things you can see in a day's drive! Come, enjoy, soak it all in. The only difficult thing about the Olympic Peninsula is having to leave it.
Our son and daughter-in-law raved about how clean the house was, all of the instructions and the wonderful banana bread. They loved their stay. I rented the house for them and have to say Joleen's communication was the best I've ever experienced throughout my years renting from VRBO and AirBnb. She is exceptional!
Great property and hosts! Our family of 4 enjoyed the location and outdoor activities during the day to come home to a comfortable and clean home to at night. Beds were great and my kids loved the bunk room. We spent a whole day on the Discovery trail that we accessed right from the house. We loved the banana bread (ate it all before we were unpacked!) and Steve's suggestions were fantastic. I would definitely stay here again the next time we visit ONP.
A wonderful place to stay!
We had a fantastic stay at the Bikepath Bungalow with our 2 and 5 year old kids. They LOVED the bunk beds and we were happy the blinds in the room worked well so the kids weren’t up with the sun. They had a blast with the toys on site as well as riding on the trail.
We instantly felt completely at home- Steve & Joleen have not only thought of everything, but the linens & beds are top grade, it's immaculate, even the fire pit was neatly and generously stocked. The only reason I didn't rate location as 5* is bc it's nowhere special, no view etc. but it's private, really bright and spacious, & was exactly what we wanted. We've stayed in dozens of places & most are fine but not worth noting to return to. Should we ever go back to this area, we'd absolutely try to stay here again.
We had a great time staying at the Bikepath Bungalow! Check in was easy and they were very understanding when we were delayed getting in. We also were able to have a great conversation with the owners and they answered all the questions we had and even gave us delicious pastries!! The location was convenient to go to either Port Angeles or Sequim and the house was very clean and stocked with a plenty of things to be able to cook easily when we wanted to. We would definitely stay there again!
I was truly impressed with the cleanliness of this home! Spotless to the point everything looked as if we were the first to use it. The home is well decorated and appointed. We had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. I fell in love with Port Angeles and wish I could move there!
This was our second stay at the bikepath bungalow (2018 was the first), and that fact alone should carry the message: if you are looking for a sparkling clean vacation home that is super comfortable and has the best equipped kitchen we ever encountered, you found the right place. As a huge bonus, your hosts Joleen and Steve, are incredibly friendly and helpful, and will give you a warm welcome. Whether you want to explore Hurricane Ridge, the rainforest, coastal gems such as Ruby Beach or fantastic waterfalls like Marymere Falls, you will find this bungalow a great base. A clear recommendation!
Beautiful area
This house is perfect for a visit to ONP! FIrst, the home is sparkling clean, is very well supplied, and bright/cheery. From the house, you are in the perfect spot for exploring many areas. We went into the National Park and hiked Hurricane Ridge, Madison and Marymere Falls and Storm King, we kayaked on Lake Crescent, went to the Dungeness Spit, Victor's Lavendar Farm and Sul Doc. We spent one night watching shooting stars on the deck. A bald eagle seems to live in the tree across the street. The neighborhood is charming. I ran on the Discovery Trail which was super. This is a must stay place! Hope to come back!
