Stayed Aug 25, 2023The house is conveniently located to several restaurants, a small grocery store and a local brew pub. The kitchen is well-stocked and the house is uniquely decorated. We enjoyed listening to music on the turntable, and played a few board games together. A huge bonus was the Osprey nest across the street with a baby s it’s parents. Loved hearing them call to one another! We enjoyed a relaxing visit. Great Thrift store around the corner!!

Stayed Feb 13, 2026The place was clean and organized, with plenty to do! There was so many cool puzzles! There was also a collection of pamphlets of all the things you can do and see in Dunsmuir. It was beautiful, and my hubby and i had an amazing getaway, just cuddling together and spending quality time together. Thank you!!!

Stayed Oct 5, 2025Haven is the perfect description for our stay. The property was so unique. As it was October, Dena decorated the place with a Halloween theme. Didn't expect this so it was a nice pleasant surprise. Everything was as described. The retro arcade video game was a blast. Didn't have to spend quarters especially if one wasn't good. LOL Dena was a perfect host for our stay. She answered any questions promptly and went the extra mile to provide access to the mountain bikes and provided a warming blanket for the chilly evenings. A great haven to settle in after a day of adventure. 10 stars out of 10.

Stayed Aug 28, 2025Our stay here in Dunsmuir was exactly what I had hoped it would be. The little house is great, clean and comfortable with a good energy-feel. We were apprehensive at first about the waterbed (we're in our fifties) - it was firm and comfortable as one should be. Walking distance to eats and arts. Right at the foot of Shasta... who could ask for more. Dena was great, friendly and welcoming. Thank you, great stay. We'll stay here again when we're back to Shasta!

Stayed Jul 19, 2025Nestled in the far reaching forests below the great Mt. Shasta, Hiker's Haven provides a splendid point of rest for nomad and tourist alike. This stellar abode is furnished with a full kitchen, laundromat and most importantly an excellent sound system. CDs and Vinyl are available for playback, or you can bring your own! Puzzles and local information are also provided for your leisure and curisosity. The owners were attentive and quick to reply. And lest you forget, you are in the heart of beautiful Dunsmuir. A short trip out the backyard and across the street takes you directly to the Dunsmuir Brewing Company. There you can enjoy a fine pint of porter alongside an Elk burger and the mountain's finest hospitality. After lunch you can stroll along historic downtown and share a drink at the intimate Cobra Lily. Or you can uncover hidden goods while shopping at Unexpected Treasures, a lovely thrift located just minutes from all these fine establishments listed. Hikers and waterfall enthusiasts will be pleased to know that some of the most exquisite waterfalls can be located within a few miles of your hiking haven. Of particular note, at the request of the author, is the awe inspiring sight of Mossbrae Falls. After an exciting day you can rest your weary body upon an authentic waterbed back home at Hiker's Haven. Highly recommended.

Stayed Jun 7, 2025Love the look of the stone building. We just stayed one night on our way to Portland. Had good meal at Dunsmuir Brewery Works which has an outdoor eating space where we could bring our dog. It is an easy walk out the back gate to the brewery. Fold out couch is comfortable for a fold out couch, wasn’t bothered by metal bars like on some. Water bed is more comfortable. Although house is across the street from train station so there is noise from the trains.

Stayed Apr 22, 2025We loved staying at this throw back in time mini castle. I was in heaven with the classic vinyl and arcade games. A perfect peaceful location. A walk to the brewery behind the house. Trees and a walk to the sac river. Absolutely loved it and will be back.

Stayed Aug 12, 2024We had an okay stay; there were some issues however, that made it less than ideal. The refrigerator seemed to be breaking down— it was very noisy and barely cooled down our perishables. The kitchen had ants and the handsoaps were watered down to the point of being useless. The tub also needed to be scrubbed. We did enjoy a couple of the games and informative hiking books provided. There clearly was an effort to make guests feel comfortable in some areas, but it would have been nice if it was cleaner overall and had a more functional kitchen, especially if you want to cook.

Stayed Jul 2, 2024We loved our stay with Hiker's Haven! It's exactly as described with retro feel, waterbed, record player, and a bit of hipster vibe. I found the Redbone Record and played Come on get Your Love on the record player. I loved the charm, and my 16 year old daughter had me playing board games. Truly a fond experience. Thank you!
