York is a popular beach community with history, charm and accessibility. First settled in 1624 and the first incorporated city in America, the area offers a myriad of fun things to do including relaxing on the beach, fishing, sightseeing and shopping. It is home to the John Hancock Wharf and Mark Twain's summer home and is an area which still has architectural examples from the gilded age, particularly the shingle style.
There is plenty to do including fishing, kayaking, boating, biking, golfing, & dining in York and the surrounding communities of Kittery, Cape Neddick, Ogunquit or Portsmouth, NH. The area is known for summer theater, concerts, and the many activities in York Beach including 10 pin bowling, miniature golf, and saltwater taffy and fresh made ice cream. There are local forts, lighthouses and historic homes. Rain or shine, there is an endless array of things to do.
NEW: The house is now set up with a downstairs bedroom with ensuite full bathroom and 4 additional bedrooms upstairs. New pictures to be posted soon.
Pets: we strive to offer a pet friendly property but we do need to know some information about your pet - or pets - before booking. Please send an inquiry first and include what kind of pet (dog or cat), breed and weight. For dogs also include if they are kennel trained and for cats if they are box trained and clawed or declawed. Generally the house can accommodate up to 2 pets but additional pets will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The pet fee is $100 for the first pet, additional pets will add $50 each to the pet fee and covers the additional cleaning and maintenance costs.
In for a wedding and the house worked well for our family.
Maurice was very accommodating and with a newborn was so easy to check in and do everything. Would go there again a happily. It was legitimately right across the street from the wedding we were attending.
My husband and I enjoyed this beautiful New England home in quiet neighborhood with easy access to many great activities. The home was just as described, very clean, and had everything you needed. Maurice was a perfect host and very responsive. I would highly recommend this home. Thank you, Maurice! ?
We enjoyed our stay and the many walks to the wiggly bridge ! The only thing we wish there was more of was tvs for the rainy days.
Unbelievable vacation week in York at a beautiful home in an awesome location
Very nice house for a relaxing family vacation. Nice peaceful location between York Harbor and York Village, easily walkable to both.
Each year our family celebrates the holidays in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Kids and grands live within a short distance from this house, making the location very convenient for our visit. The host was wonderful and very responsive.
We rented this house so that my 4 daugthers, 2 son in laws, and grandson could all stay together with us for Thanksgiving week. The house was perfect for the occasion and it is in a great location. It is easy to get to the grocery store, bagel shop, restaurants etc. and I especially loved how close it was to York Harbor and Fishermans Walk and Cliff Walk. Maurice was super responsive and helpful during the planning stages and while we were there as well.
We loved this home. Its central proximity to Southern ME towns and peaceful location gave us more than we had hoped it would, thank you Maurice
What a beautiful home in a perfect location. This house was more than met all our wants and needs...clean, spacious and homey. During the day we (5 sisters) shopped, walked to Wiggly Bridge, hiked the cliffs, walked the beaches and even caught a musical at Ogunquit Playhouse. In the evenings, we cooked, played games and just enjoyed relaxing in this quaint neighborhood. This house and its location has something for everyone.
When I searched for a place to stay for a family wedding in South Berwick, I could not have found a more perfect house. It checked all of the boxes: impeccably clean, roomy, fully stocked kitchen, beautiful bathrooms, comfortable beds with crisp sheets and plenty of towels and a lovely enclosed porch, among other amenities. It had everything we needed and more. The day of our arrival, a severe storm rolled through York, causing power outages to many in the area, including our rental. Our host, Maurice, contacted me immediately to let me know that the power crews were working to restore power. It was still out when we arrived, so we headed to town to the Fat Tomato for takeout(delicious!). We dined in the dark on the front porch during which time the power was finally restored with Maurice keeping me updated. What a pleasure it was to have Maurice for our host, so accommodating and extremely quick to return all of my texts. Dinner at the Sundrop the next night was a pleasant surprise with a 3 piece band, the owner waiting on us while his wife was our chef; a unique menu with locally sourced foods that was absolutely delicious and very memorable! If we were ever to return to the area, I wouldn't hesitate to re-book with Maurice, a great host, a great house and convenient to everything! Thank you, Maurice!
Originally booked for a wedding in May but couldn’t travel because we had Covid. Host allowed us to rebook house for end of September. Home is perfect in every way. Location, walkable, home has everything you need and more. A true 10/10!
We returned to my home of York harbor to celebrate my 75 th birthday with my family. It was perfect. My daughter became engaged on the wiggly bridge. My grandkids had a ball playing on the beach. In all a perfect Maine vacation
Our two weeks at this property were truly blissful. With Wiggly Bridge and Fisherman’s Walk just short walks away, we were surrounded by gorgeous views of the harbor and tidal river. The beautiful nearby beach is also walkable, but the 2-minute drive is more practical with beach gear. The house itself was very accommodating, clean and neat and well stocked for cooking/dining in. Beds were comfortable and towels were abundant. The backyard was perfect for wiffle ball games with our little guests! The house is ideal for families, offering easy access to York and surroundings and comfortable surroundings for relaxing at home. Maurice, the owner, is accessible and personable and responds quickly and efficiently to requests and questions. This house was a great find and has provided us with many wonderful memories!
My family stayed here during my wedding weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Maurice is an incredible host with an even more spectacular home. We cannot thank him enough for the use of his cottage and his outstanding correspondence with us leading up to our stay. I highly recommend anyone looking for a house to rent in York Harbor take a look at this cottage.
We enjoyed our visit! Maurice responded promptly to any questions. The house was well stocked, clean, in a quiet neighborhood, and within walking distance to small shops and the beach!!
We truly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home in York Harbor. The house is equipped with everything you need, located in the perfect spot. All communication with Maurice was timely and thorough; check in, check out and when we had a minor snag with a lamp. We’ll surely return!
We had a great stay. The house is lovely and had everything we needed for our stay. The neighborhood is quiet and we enjoyed the location which was walking distance to a few restaurants and a great bagel/coffee place. Highly recommend!
We were in York Harbor for our son's wedding at the Stageneck Inn. The location location was within walking distance and only a two minute drive. The house met all our expectations. It was very clean, in a quiet area and over all very comfortable. If the need every arises we won't hesitate to book with Maurice again. Thank you for a wonderful, worry free trip. The accomidation truely allowed us to enjoy our son's wedding.
From check in to check out, it was the perfect place to stay. Walking distance to wiggly bridge, and fully stocked, looking forward to coming again
We enjoyed our time at Maurice’s house which had all we needed, and the neighborhood was peaceful yet convenient for traveling, food and entertainment. We hope to return again soon!
Amazing... Relaxing... Tranquil... We loved it-super quiet, and in an amazing location for walks and general access to retail, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Lovely neighborhood, lovely home-multiple areas to be, so if one wants to watch TV, or take a snooze, the other(s) can be comfortable and happy in another part of the house. We will definitely be back!
