Homewood, California
Our charming home on Tahoe's West Shore is about four miles south of Tahoe City in the Skyland neighborhood. It is adjacent to majestic Blackwood Canyon — an ideal place for "a walk in the woods," as well as more adventurous hiking, and mountain biking.
Walk 1-1/2 blocks to our neighborhood's HOA's beach and pier. A paved bike path winds along the West Shore. (Watch our YouTube video that offers an aerial tour of our home and the surrounding Skyland neighborhood).
We loved this place! Close the the trails and lake, but far enough away to be peaceful and quiet.
The location is central to town and activities. Quiet neighborhood and easy access to the bike/walking path as well as the lake and public beach. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookery; except baking sheets. And the washer and dryer are a nice bonus; though be aware that it is accessible via outside access. The house stays cool throughout the day, even when the temperature went above mid-80s. We never had to turn on the thermal night either. The bidet works well and reduces the amount of TP needed! If you are used to sleeping on memory foam mattresses (i.e Casper) then you will find both mattresses to be very firm. These are not the beds for you. The closets are not setup for guest use. The shower has great water pressure but the hot water tank runs out after one shower of 10-15mins. So use less hot water and shower quickly if you have a lot of people in your party. The front porch is lovely for listening to nature however, the trees in August drop a lot of sap so if you value your clothes, beware that you will get sap on them and your body. That’s normal, but just a heads up to future renters.
This place was extremely clean. Decorated like a Tahoe cabin should be. Plenty of linens, paper supplies and information about the area. A great place!
Our family had a wonderful time at Shannon’s cabin. Check in was simple and Shannon was always available for any questions. We loved having meals out on the deck and the fact that we could walk to Eagle Rock right from our front door. Beds were comfy and the place looks just like the listing. Would easily stay again.
We had a fantastic time at the Homewood cabin. We loved that we had our own space and we’re able to cook and do laundry. We felt at home. We were in the perfect location to access everything Lake Tahoe has to offer. Quick drive to emerald bay, Tahoe city, kings beach, Truckee river etc. Shannon was communicative, attentive, and helpful. Thanks for a great stay. We can’t recommend it enough!
This home is in a perfect place. Easy to walk to the beach, the trail on the shore, or the forest. Easy drive to other activities. The home is small, old tahoe cabin like. Decently updated. VRBO can feel in the range from just better than a hotel (no personality, just as many supplies needed for your stay) to feeling like you are at your friends aunts house who is away for the week (feels homey, personal and in use with lots of cooking supplies, clothes in the closets and little space to put own stuff). This felt like the friends aunts house. Loved and lived in, no place to really unpack your stuff. It does feel like this would be better for 2 or 3 people due to its size and amenities. But it worked for the four of us and our dog. Grateful it was available and for the location as this was a last minute booking for us. And the owner is super nice and responsive.
This cabin was great for us - a couple with an adult child. The location was really nice close to the water and pretty close to restaurants and shops. It seems like the cabin isn’t exclusively a rental so I didn’t love the random items in the closets, including a mouse nest (which the owner said would be cleaned out right away. Some things like power sockets were not updated which made it charge our devices, but the internet was Lightning fast, which we loved! All in all a good experience with a few drawbacks.
My family and I were very pleased with our stay. The location was perfect for all our activities. We were only a two minute walk from the lake and nearby a lot of hiking trailheads. When we were home, we spent a lot of time out on the front porch deck. It’s very spacious with plenty of seating. The deck has a nice big tree to tie a cable run for our dog. He loved hanging out on the front deck with us and we all enjoyed looking around at the green, trees, birds, and rodents. The cabin is small, but it was a perfect fit for our needs. The cabin has two spacious bedrooms with queen beds, the kitchen had pretty much everything we needed. The only thing I would say we needed was a cookie sheet, but we made do with what we had. The eating area and living room had a cozy cabin feel which I enjoyed. Shannon and Jeff were great from the moment I booked the cabin vacation rental. They were very attentive and updated me as needed. I would definitely stay at this vacation rental again. Hoping it will be available for the next time we are able to come back to the Lake Tahoe area.
I enjoyed the property. Close to all of the activities I was interested in. Private dock on lake was a nice perk.
Susan was very prompt in answering all our questions. The c
