Travel back in time to the picturesque, quaint villages and outdoor beauty of the Green Mountains in this sprawling Vermont vacation home! You will enjoy all the comforts of home and more as you awaken every morning from a deep and restful country sleep, gaze through the French doors at the beautiful misty mountains, and brew a cup of steaming French Roast coffee to enjoy on the balcony in your bathrobe.

Maybe you don't even need to leave the house today after all. You can wander between our 3 living rooms, Great Room and Sun Room, trying to decide which one has the coziest spot for curling up with your coffee. Or maybe you'd rather decide which of our 3 decks and patios has the sunniest spot. Or you could wander up the back yard to the pond, relax in an Adirondack chair and watch the fish jump. But if all this fresh air has you feeling like a kid again, head for the tree swing in our big, gorgeous maple, or take a shady nap in our hammock. You can hardly tear yourself away, but there are so many wonderful things to explore in Dorset and Manchester!

Dorset is a most charming, quaint location in every season. In the early spring you can enjoy visiting a real maple syrup 'sugar shack' to see how Vermont maple syrup is made, and by late April and May, our gardens are bursting with color. In summertime, you must pack a picnic lunch and head to the local favorite swimming spot, the Dorset marble quarry, and join the locals in a time-honored tradition of jumping off the ledges. The endless nearby hiking trails beckon to be explored. In the fall, our stately maple trees in the front yard, and the surrounding mountain sides are breath-takingly ablaze with color, and in winter you must skate on our pond, sled down our hill and take a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride nearby! Downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snow mobiling are just 15 minutes away, and there's a great ice skating rink just 7 minutes away. Any time of year, exploring the 100-year old covered bridges and meandering down the back roads through the adorable, quaint towns is a cherished favorite pastime. All of these activities and more await you at Owlswood!

Charming shops, bakery cafes and general stores are 3 minutes away on Dorset Green, and 7 minutes away in Manchester Center, not to mention the highly-acclaimed Southern Vermont Art Center, the historic Hildene House (former home of Robert Todd Lincoln) and the famous Vermont Country store. There are many local activities all year round, including the Manchester Summer Horse Festival, the water slide park at Bromley Ski Resort, art fairs, Sunday farmers' markets, outlet shopping, golf, fly-fishing, canoeing, horse-back riding, and don't forget incredible hiking, just minutes away.

When you return home from exploring, enjoy an outdoor game of badminton or volleyball in our dedicated court, all set up and ready to play! We also provide a nice wooden corn hole set, bocce ball and croquet sets, as well as a football, soccer ball, baseball mitts & balls, and frisbees to use in our huge front and back yards. You can even swim in our pond, try our new paddleboard or row the 3-person raft around! But there's nothing like just relaxing at the picnic table while you throw in a line for some catch-and-release fishing, or taking a lazy summer nap in the our incredibly comfortable hammock under the shady maple tree on a summer's afternoon...heavenly. We even have several fun trails on our property, such as the Pond Loop Trail, and the Bird House Trail. Great for walking your dog right at the house!

Once it's time to head indoors, start the evening by lighting a wood fire in the huge stone fireplace in the Great Room and playing some board games or starting a puzzle (we have lots!). Our brand-new, incredibly comfortable sectional sofa with a chaise lounge is the perfect spot to curl up with a good book, or snuggle up to watch a little TV or movie you've been meaning to see on our new QLED 55 high-def, flat screen Smart TV, with Blu-Ray player. We also have another 42 SmartTV all set up in the lower living room area with a Wii video gaming system, and 25+ games from which to choose, including Guitar Hero.

We have high-speed wireless internet, and you'll especially love our Sonos music system, on which you can play just about any song ever recorded at the touch of a button! We even have blue tooth speakers outdoors by the hot tub, too. There is a house phone with unlimited long-distance calling, and a USB printer for your use, as well.

For dinner your first night, why not bake a delicious home-made Chicken Pot Pie from historic Dorset Union General store on Dorset Green But be sure to venture out for a great meal at one of the many award-winning restaurants close by. Dorset and Manchester are renowned for their incredible chef-owned restaurants, and farm-to-table cuisine. You could spend years trying all the amazing restaurants within a 10-minutes radius of Owlswood! It's also fun to create your own farm-to-table experience, using fresh produce from local Dutton Farms (the kids will adore seeing their cute farm animals, too). So bring your favorite recipes from home and cook up a feast in our very well-appointed kitchen with a nice breakfast bar, then gather everyone in the formal dining room for a cozy fireside meal. After dinner it's time to relax and watch the sunset over the mountains in our very private 7 person jetted hot tub, or roast marshmallows around the outdoor bonfire pit while gazing at the incredible Milky Way. We even provide the firewood!

Our little hamlet of Dorset, Vermont is located in the Southwest corner of the state, in the heart of the Green Mountains, only 4 hours drive from New York City and 3 hours from Boston. If you fly in, Albany, New York is the closest major airport, and Dorset is 1:15 minutes northeast by car. Burlington, Vermont is 2 hours north of us, and Manchester, New Hampshire is about 2:30 minutes east of us. We know you'll fall in love with Dorset just as we did. We can't wait to have you as our guests!

Suzanne was an excellent communicator who made the entry and exit process a breeze. She was kind enough to offer local restaurant suggestions, hiking options ( both on her property and nearby), shopping recommendations and even her favorite coffee brewing hacks. Her home -Owlswood - was clean, warm, comfortable, roomy ( !!) and incredibly well stocked with everything that my family could ever need during our long MLK weekend stay. The hot tub, the mountain views, the pond, the outdoor fire pit, the babbling brook, the property and the nearness of charming Dorset made Owlswood a place that I was sad to leave but one that I will surely return to in the future.

We have been staying at Suzanne’s lovely home for over 10 years and every time we go back we remember why. This was the first time we went when it was warm and it was still and amazing time. The grounds are expertly tended to and the outdoor activities were abundant. We had such a great time making delicious meals and relaxing in the great room. Suzanne had reached out multiple times with information and great suggestions; she’s the best host!Looking forward to our next stay!

Owlswood is a beautiful property. The house is spacious and well equipped, best house we have ever rented. The grounds are lovely, we enjoyed the deck and the patio with the view of the garden and the mountains as the sun went down. We loved paddling in the pond and playing croquet. This was our second visit and we hope to return.

We enjoyed our stay at Owlswood. Suzanne has thought of everything. The kitchen is the best equipped kitchen that we have ever seen in a vacation rental. The house also has outdoor activity equipment and everything you could ask for in a vacation rental. Suzanne is easily reachable and very pleasant to work with. This is our third time at this house and we will definitely stay there again.

Suzanne was a fantastic host, very communicative and helpful. The house is beautiful, the area lovely and there’s so much to do on the property that my 2 great nephews and my great niece were thrilled (and they’re all teenagers). Hot tub, fishing pond, fire pit and badminton. Don’t miss the nearby attractions, including The Quarry for swimming and Robert Todd Lincoln’s estate Hildene, now a museum home.

We swam in the pond, used the fire pit for s'mores, enjoyed the hot tub and I could go on and on. We travel from Western PA, Madison, WI and Boston, MA to be together.

We had a wedding to attend and we had the joy of doing all the flowers. Also our good friend was graduating from the VT Police Academy. The house was a great place to have everybody stay, gather, celebrate and relax for the weekend. Also the outside space allowed for us to get the flowers ready and arranged. The house was clean, exceptionally well equipped, a beautiful outdoor space, and large enough to house us all. The fireplace helped keep us warm with on the rainy day. And providing wood for us to use was so kind.

My wife Darcy and I and our dogs stayed in Suzanne's house and it was everything we wanted. The house is easy to navigate, with a fully stocked kitchen. And the setting is spectacular, watching the sun rise and set over the mountains, wirh a running stream, trails and even a pond. Suzanne is a gracious host, with recommendations for local attractions and restaurants. She even went out of her way to speak with her groundskeeper as she knew I like to fish and had her groundskeeper have rods and tackle ready for us! We would definitely recommend for all families. Thanks Suzanne! From Chester, Darcy and our dogs who give it paws up!

Our weekend at the Owlswood was fantastic. The house was spotless, well stocked and huge. There was enough room for our large family to spread out, although we spent most of our time in front of the fireplace. Our host, Suzanne, couldn't be more accomodating. She was great from the first contact right through checkin/out. Her directions and helpful suggestions for what to do besides skiing were very much appreciated. The property was expansive and well maintained. We enjoyed walking around by the pond and streams. Our grandchildren loved making pinecone rafts and watching them sail downstream. Don't even have to comment on the tree swing or hot tub, they were fun for the kids and so relaxing for the big kids. It would be great to be back during the summer months. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Our group of 10, primarily in our late 50s, just returned from an amazing long weekend at Owlshead. The online photos are spot on. The house is expansive with a bedroom wing and an open great room, dining area and a well-equipped kitchen, go beyond this area and you have lots more living space including a tiered living room, dining room, sunroom with wet bar. The acreage around the property is stunning with a large fire pit, pond, sledding hills, outdoor hot tub with a lovely view.We did not have enough time to maximize it all. We skied Magic Mtn and Bromley, explored some of Manchester and Dorset, went sledding and thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub after these activities. We were fortunate to be there for 10 inches of snow which added to the beauty of Owlshead.Suzanne, the owner, could not have been nicer, communicative and provided better suggestions - thank you so much!

Our family stayed for a winter getaway. We had everything we needed to be comfortable, to cook and share meals, to play outside, relax by the fire after enjoying the jacuzzi. The home is just beautiful, and located centrally so we could come and go to enjoy skiing, ice-skating, shopping and local restaurants. Suzanne was an amazing host, she was so helpful. Our family is convinced she may be related to Martha Stewart. Thank you for giving our family everything we needed for our family get-away. We definitely want to come back, and maybe enjoy a different season at the Owlswood Home in Dorset.

Our week at Owlswood was wonderful. The house was perfect with plenty of room for 6 adults and 3 young kids to spread out play, cook and rest. The property is a huge bonus with a sweet little pond, trails through the woods, sloping open spaces perfect for sledding after a Thanksgi snowstorm. There were plenty of kitchen supplies and cooking equipment for a family of cooking enthusiasts. The hot tub was fun for the adults at the end of the day. Suzanne was very helpful with suggestions for things to do in and around Dorset and Manchester. Highly recommend booking Owlswood for a special stay in a beautiful area of Vermont.

We recently stayed at this stunning property in Vermont, and I can't say enough good things about it. The house is absolutely beautiful—immaculately clean, thoughtfully decorated, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The attention to detail is truly impressive, making it feel like a home away from home. The location is unbeatable, offering not just convenience but also a breathtaking view that we could enjoy from multiple spots around the house. Whether it was enjoying a peaceful morning coffee or unwinding in the evening, the scenery added to the overall relaxing atmosphere. This was our fourth time visiting, and each time we are more and more impressed. The consistency in maintaining such high standards is rare, and it's what keeps us coming back. The hosts are warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I almost don’t want to leave this review because we can hardly find a window to book it ourselves!

We were very happy with our stay at Suzanne's home in Dorset, Vermont for a week-long family summer vacation. Suzanne was an incredibly responsive and helpful host, who checked in daily, worked to resolve any issues that came up, and provided excellent recommendations for food, activities, and local spots to check out during our stay in Dorset. The house was incredibly spacious and welcoming as there was plenty of room for our group of 10, and everyone found the house to be immaculately clean and the beds extremely comfortable. We were happy to find the kitchen well stocked with plenty of appliances to cook with throughout the week and to make our morning coffee. During the week the central location of the house gave us access to wonderful hikes, the Dorset Farmer's Market on Sundays, the quaint shops and restaurants in downtown Manchester, and as many maple creamees as we could eat. While on the property we enjoyed walks up to the pond, access to the hot tub watching the sunset over the mountains, and plenty of games and activities for the rainy days. It is clear that Suzanne has put a lot of time, effort, and attention into making her house feel like a home for her guests, and we would happily recommend her place to anyone looking to have a relaxing, beautiful stay in Dorset. Thanks again for the great week!
