We arrived around 9:30 and used the key code given to us via email. Once inside, it was obvious that the house was in use either by the owner or someone else. We had an extremely difficult time getting thru all communication routes to find help and answers. We thankfully found a hotel and eventually got a hold of a vrbo associate who committed to refund us. The house definitely was not what we expected based off of the pictures and descriptions on vrbo. No place to park, the street crowded and steep steps. Might be hard for older folks. Obviously we were not happy to have to beg for a refund. If it was truly a scheduling issue on the owners part, wouldn’t the owner offer to help us with a refund? According to one email from vrbo, the owner “canceled” due to our age not meeting minimum age requirements. That’s not true! My husband is 61. I wonder if your owner is scamming people. We are watching for our refund. And will wait for that confirmation before ever using vrbo or referring anyone to vrbo. If vrbo keeps the commitment to make this right with us, we will let others know that vrbo is trustworthy. Thank you.

When we checked in, we there was no lock box. Had to call the host (who was very nice and apologized), but showed up almost 30 minutes later to let us in.Then when staying, noticed the place is not clean, couldn't walk around barefoot due to the floor conditions being dirty. The TV didn't work, wouldn't even connect to the wifi or let any of the smart TV options be cast. Also, there was a strong smell of smoke, so we had to cut our stay short as our party was getting headaches from whoever had stayed there before and smoked on property. The shower was nice and the host was trying his best, but I still haven't gotten a refund for those last nights we weren't able to stay.

Listing states the home as charming which couldn’t be less true. The exterior is run-down & inside dirty, unfinished & hazardous—* Missing trim, missing subfloor, covered only by LVP (my husband nearly fell through the floor).* No seal or threshold at the front door* Kitchen steps missing flooring & trim pieces * Sloppy paint that was incomplete, spilled onto floors & inconsistent in color on walls, doors & trim* Basement stairs falling apart, visible water on basement floor, exposed pipes & suspected mold—posing health concerns (my daughter developed breathing issues during the night).* Interior doors without handles & blinds too short for privacy or safety.* Filthy kitchenware, appliances & overall poor hygiene standards. The furniture was worn & uncomfortable (the couch had no cushion; beds were unsleepable) & the “smart TV” was unusable due to limited app access & poor WiFi.the porch was cluttered with broken cabinets & trash, & the steep steps to the house (not mentioned in the listing) were covered in slippery mulch—another safety hazard that caused my daughter to nearly fall.Out of my two-night reservation, we only endured one night. It was late when we arrived & we had no other choice but to stay the first night. I was forced to find other accommodations for the 2nd night, causing additional stress. The host should be ashamed of the deceptive listing & lack of care for this property. While the house has potential, it is unsafe, poorly maintained & dishonest
