Our cozy, 3 bedroom, recently renovated guesthouse, is located on a secluded 1.25 acre old horse property. Upon arriving you will be greeted by our pet goats, and horse, who also live there in the old racehorse barn. We have a close up view of the Santa Catalina Mountains, and sit next to the dry Rillito River wash (except in the summer, or winter, after a few days of strong rain). Come in relax in our cozy home, or sit outside on the porch, and enjoy the outdoor space. Our neighborhood is surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees, home to a few great horned owls, lots of hawks and an abundance of wild rabbits running around everywhere! And, we have a shared mesquite grove which forms a canope over the dining table, chairs, swing and grill to enjoy meals outdoors. The backyard at the moment is mostly available to your well trained canine companion (please NO PUPPIES) as it is just a small fenced in yard, but can work to let your four legged family member a chance to rest too, available upon request. Likewise, if you are traveling with equine family, we have room for a trailer and a few of these guests as well, available upon request.

Our property sits within half a mile to farmers markets off the Rillito Park, with paths for biking, walking, rollerblading or horseback riding. The Heirloom Farmers Market, open year round on Sundays, sits next to the Rillito Downs Racetrack, where racing happens January-April. The St. Philip's Plaza Farmers market also opens year round on Saturdays and Sundays, including an artist market, in a lush plaza with a water fountain, dining, entertainment, gyms, salon, spa and more.

We are also within a half mile to the University of Arizona's agricultural farm where you will find free range cows, horses, sheep, and more, on an 80 acre farm. It makes for a great walk in the early mornings, or afternoons, to catch sunrises, or sunsets, with expansive mountain views to the north.

Within 3-5 miles you will also find area hospitals (U of A Cancer & Neurology center, UMC, TMC, NWMC), as well as the University of Arizona main campus to the south of us. Up the foothills to the north, more fine dining, shopping and hiking trails with panoramic views of the city.

If you are here for the Gem Show at the beginning of the year, January through February, the main tents can be found within 6-10 miles of our location.

Heading 8 miles east, you will reach the Catalina Highway, at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Ascending this breathtaking road you will see a change of topography with amazing picture perfect opportunities. Within this road you can access camping grounds, hiking trails, fishing, climbing, bouldering, and training ground for the Tour de France. The end of the road is reached in Winterhaven, a small town with a couple of dining options.. Sky Valley is also open in the summer for rides on the sky lift to reach the peak for more breathtaking views of the city. And, lastly you can find the Mount Lemmon Sky Center, home to the Steward Observatory.

If you are looking for a small roadtrip for more adventure, to the west about 6 miles you will have access to I10 which will take you to more scenic towns like Tubac, Bisbee, Tombstone, Patagonia and more.

But just staying in the city in our country style guesthouse, you will have access to lots of local businesses and parks. Supermarkets and gyms, salons and more are all within a half mile. My family and I live in the adjacent property, and I feed the farm animals both in the morning and late afternoon, so I am available to assist you, if needed, or can give you all the space you want, too.

We loved Carmenza and her property! Carmenza was very friendly and accommodating. The house was delightful, with special touches like fresh daffodils in a vase. The goats provided a lot of entertainment, and it was fun to feed them banana peels. In addition, her property had a wide variety of birds. We would come back for sure!

We loved the fact it was quiet ex ept for wildlife and the animals. All of that was a definate plus for us. The house is semi-secluded (thankful for), the owner is very courteous and helpful when and if she is needed. The pictures shown are accurate for what you are getting. I highly recommend this property if you are going to be in Tucson and don't want the hotel price and or stoicism that comes with most. Thank you so much for your hospitality Carmenza, it was refreshing and much appreciated.

Very cute how they integrate the animals and the view is amazing. Kids will love it and adults will love the location and the ease of walking through the loop area to get to local restaurants.

We had a great time at Carmenza's. The location was perfect for our constant travels to family in the foothills. Just a couple miles away. The house is tucked away on a dead end so it is super quiet. You can access the river path just a block away. The property is next to some goats and a horse (Juno) who we visited everyday. The goats just had babies (days old when we arrived) so that was a special treat! I would definitely stay again.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Carmenza's urban ranch! She was very accommodating, friendly, respectful and on top of everything. Communication was great from the time of booking, helping us find ideas in the area, to the check in process and throughout the stay. You can tell she truly enjoys hosting and making people happy. The house has everything you will need for your stay, and is very clean, comfortable and spacious. You're close to everything, but it doesn't feel like you're within the city. We have two young kids and they loved getting to see the animals and even feed them. Carmenza also had toys and kids books in the house for them. They slept way better there than they do at home and were sad to leave, so that was great and speaks to the comfort of the home. Everything really was perfect, so glad we stayed here!
