Clean home. Hoped the beach at yankeetown was bigger and cleaner
Property was in a good location for doing all we had planned while in this part of Florida. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, plenty of towels and enjoyed the back yard fire pit.
Well, this is place that definitely needs a lot more work. We enjoyed our stay since each day was out exploring. This is an older home which has been patched and repaired everywhere. The kitchen is no where near that bright in the pictures - very dim lighting with one ceiling light. The bathroom door trim has been nailed to the frame - but there is still enough gap to see out or in to the toilet by the door. My daughter found a lot of blonde hairs in her bedroom - she washed all sheets and bedspreads before using. Most of the bed covers, including mine, had holes or tears. Washer and dryer need to be switched in position - you can not easily access the dryer door when open. Large floor drain that is capped is a trip hazard and hurts if you are wearing sandals. The place is clean and there are plenty of nice kitchen ware and utensils. All are in good shape and look new. Air conditioning are all window units. The Marina across the street is not very active - at all. Just not much there. Down the road is Bird Creek beach which is awesome place to see sunset. You can walk up the road to great seafood restaurant. Easy drive to Crystal River. It is basic place to stay which needs a lot more work and improvements. The first day we were there, the local Water department placed a bulletin on the front door warning to not drink the water due to pressure drop in the area. Water pressure was fine everywhere in the unit - just used more of our bottled water. Just heads up, if you are using the cable and sign in using your home user name and password, be sure to sign out before you leave. There were past sign ons there allowing anyone to use them. I deleted those accounts.
We weren’t able to use our first night so we only stayed for 1 night. The property is more or less how it looks in the pictures however less modern and for the price, it was underwhelming. Clearly some thought and heart was put into the property but it felt dated. It was overall pretty clean unless you looked at the windowsills under the air conditioning units. Or what looked like mold around some light fixtures. The air conditioning units were very loud. The sheets were polyester. The pillows were very uncomfortable, the mattresses were covered with plastic covers which made noise every time we moved and made an awful sleeping experience. The closet door in the guest room was broken. Some of the lights in the house didn’t work. Or had no instructions. We arrived in the evening and were not able to use the laundry room or the cute attachment area to the house due to no lights. One of the shutters in the living room was broken. There was a bit of a smell. If we were paying a service fee and cleaning fee having to take out our own garbage and strip our own beds didn’t seem ok. The area was more trailer park than not. Would not come back.
We were a family of 4 and we all agree on how clean and nice this place was. It has everything you need. We came with our boat and enjoy the sea and fishing. We will definitely come back!! Thank you!
The property is cozy, quaint and very much how it views online. The house was clean, beds very comfortable and the environment was quiet & peaceful. There were cards and some other games that were available for your entertainment. There is a marina across the street from the property and a nice restaurant not far that served really good food that also has a lovely view of the water. On the morning after it rained at night, we did note the street out front of the property does flood. And we literally saw about 3 ft alligator walk across the front yard. So I’d be mindful if one has pets or children as it was awesome to the see the gator but also a little unnerving as too. The night it rained, we sat in the porch area playing cards whilst listening to the rain. They have fans and AC units in the house. It was a little damp in my opinion but overall pleasant. We didn’t use the kayaks (they needed a good cleaning) and the fishing rods weren’t “set up” to just pick them up and go. That would’ve been great if they were as again the water is literally across the street from the property. All in all, it was a fun weekend and we’d definitely come back!
Very clean. No issues good place to stay again.
We had a wonderful stay here and loved just charming the area was. My wife grew up in Florida so she loved how nostalgic the area made her feel. The house is located directly across from a marina so we literally walked a few steps and were able to hire a boat and go out all day on the water. The whole area is so beautiful! There's a really nice restaurant called Blackwater that we walked to - it is a must-visit if you stay. (We actually ended going twice). The scallops we're to die for! Another favorite part of the trip was driving to Crystal River to see the boutique art shops and coffee shops. There are a number of Springs you can go there and so we took our kids to Hunter Springs Park. There's a little beach area there and it is nice and shallow so the kids enjoyed splashing around. Next time we plan to check out Three Sisters Springs. One last thing, our flight got delayed when we arrived so we didn't end up arriving until 11pm. I was worried that check-in would be a challenge but Mike the owner was awesome at communicating. He sent me a link to an app to download on my phone. I literally opened the app and it unlocked the lock box for us to get the key. Super easy to use and such a great idea! They also had buckets of toys for our kids to play with which was really cool. My wife and I are hoping to make this an annual trip. Between the time on the water, seeing Crystal River and amazing food at Blackwater, this was a fantastic trip.
My wife and I checked into wonderful little property Riverside Dr across from B’s Marina. I stayed before it became an official short term rental. We had a fantastic stay. The property was neat, clean and had everything we needed. We walked to a very nice seafood restaurant. We rented a boat at the marina across the street and toured the Waxahachie River on out to the gulf. This place has a laid-back old Florida fishing vibe and was very relaxing. I recommend it to anyone who just needs to get away and enjoy a river boat ride, some fishing or good seafood dining. We are already planning a return trip.
This home is absolutely adorable! The river and marina are right across the street. They had a live band the first night we stayed and it was just so nice to sit out back by the fire and listen to him sing and play guitar. The river was calm and kayaking was incredible, saw some gators and eagles. Everyone around was so nice! The home itself as i said is adorable. It has a beachy river theme. The patio is nice and had a gas/coal grill that we took advantage of. Bring your own food because you won't want to leave. And a third kayak that was perfect for my son and I to use. Inside the home has everything you need. Very homey and welcoming. The backyard is big but its only fenced on the left and back side. The whole right-side is just lined with a rope to show separation. Our golden wanted to explore but did good, if you have a runner you will need to keep them on a lead. Also neighbors are very close, so if you're looking for a more secluded home, this doesn't give that. However you almost forget the neighbors are there as you relax and settle in. We had a wonderful stay here and highly recommend!
