the property its self very nice, would have like to known which four acres was there property's and you cannot see the lake, its down a cliff path ,and when you get down there's no cleared place to set or enjoy the lake. And the trail down had a lot of trash. And would have been nice to have the broken down hot tub working? Also need stair well railing in the basement. And the shelfing unit on the stairs is hazard as it grab my sweater and pulled out the loops of my brand new made in Ireland sweater coat ! they are sharp and dangerous. As the stair way is slippery and dangerous. Also bathroom carpets slip and are dangerous. Air conditioner units need help super nosey upstairs when cooling.
We came for two milestone birthdays that happened in the same week and we’re looking for a place close to Tennessee’s great state parks.
Overall it was a great place for a get away and to shut off the electronic world. Enjoy all the birds and creatures and the views. I personally had a bit of a stress melt down on the road and actual driveway but got use it . My other half enjoyed it and actually relaxed and that was worth everything. A good time was had by everyone and many day trips of interest all where within handy distance. If I could make one recommendation my daughter and I are heavier set possibly installing a grib bar for stability stepping out of the shower. Oh and the start of the summer season maybe maintenance on the Ac heads abit loud. But overall a great time. Enjoyed the Chickens, Kitties and Pups and definitely the farm fresh eggs . Thank you
6 adults.. 2 childern in a one bedroom essentially. We booked this rental because of the three-bedroom listing. Sadly we arrived we noticed it was upstairs loft and a a single bedroom downstairs. We mainly booked because of the three-bedroom. There are 3 bedrooms. Besides the misleading listing and the unkempt yard it was beautiful.
Perfect stay for the weekend. It’s a beautiful property located to some amazing Tennessee areas. We went to Nashville (80 minutes away) and the city of Cookeville (25 min), hiked Burgess Falls. It was an amazing time! The cabin was cozy with a claw foot tub, dvds, and games - perfect way to disconnect from the world and connect with each other!
This place was the best birthday get away for the weekend! Loved the location it was absolutely beautiful! Only thing was the shower tub was dirty but nothing some cleaning supplies can’t fix and on our last day the temp dropped and well the heaters did not work at all, good thing we packed our own comforters to stay warm. Other than that this place was wonderful.
The property, location, and amenities were as described. Beautiful area landscape to observe. Breathtaking views as you drive in. The driveway is quite substandard for the incline that it sits on. The cabin is spacious and the 3 bathrooms were a huge plus. We also enjoyed the well lit fire pit area! Bugs were not terrible but if you walk on the trails in the afternoon you will encounter bees. They have movies and board games to play as well when you have some down time. In addition, the showers were always warm and the bathrooms were clean.
Victoria was absolutely amazing and very easy to work with! We enjoyed our stay and the neighbors next door were so friendly! Would stay again! Thank you Victoria for being a super host!
This is a beautiful property inside with many quaint and thoughtful details, but . . . the cleanliness of some of the rooms left a lot to be desired. The basement bathroom is the only bathroom with a true shower and the tub/shower did not really appear to be clean and step to get into the shower was mildewy and dusty. (and would strongly recommend adding a grab bar to the shower - it is a tricky step down with wet feet). There were other areas in the house that were clearly not cleaned - coffee bar area upstairs is an amazing touch, but creamer drips all over and sticky coffee mugs. The table and chairs on the deck had to be wiped down thoroughly before use and the grill was too dirty to use. There was only one towel placed on each bed and no hand towels in any of the 3 bathrooms. The water-activated washcloths were cute, but not very functional - more like a wet paper towel. Some warning on the rough entry road and a number placed on the house would have significantly helped with the check in process. The kitchen was a bit lean on some items - only 2 knives and no wine glasses. We washed everything prior to use. We did not experience any of the pest issues that were noted in other reviews. We were a bit concerned with the close proximity to the neighbors, but we didn't hear them at all during the time we were there. In all, we enjoyed the home and would stay there again, but would be prepared for some of the cleanliness issues.
Very thoughtful and welcoming host! We had a great weekend getaway celebrating a birthday! Thank you so much for hosting us!
Very cute cabin nice location
We rented this cabin because it offered a peaceful place to kick back and relax after adventuring into nature. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We shared some information with the owners regarding the cleanliness of the space and I am hopeful her cleaners will fix their shortcomings. The important things (bedding and restrooms) were clean, the nooks and cranies needed some attention, however. The washcloths were adorable, but out of stock with no alternative in the lower two restrooms. I would recommend giving renters access to a few extra towels/ linens. The trail to the beach was slippery and ROUGH! The wash up from the lake had the space covered in branches and trash, with no space to actually enjoy the water. If you want water access I recommend just driving down to the beach or go chasing waterfalls! Neither were negatives, but might be helpful for others to know that the roads into the property are bumpy and gravel and the neighbors are super close! Make sure you pause and enjoy the sounds of nature on the 3 levels of decking and all the stars!
Owner was super understanding
Really enjoyed the quiet and the closeness to the lake. Will definitely be back!
The property was in a very peaceful location and had a great view of the stars at night. There was plenty of room to hang out inside the cabin. The loft was a great space.
It was awesome and the surroundings added to the overall look and feel
We loved the area. Burgess falls was stunning and it was great having the pass for the lake. There was some issues with the cleanliness of the cabin when we arrived, but the owner made that right.
Positives: Cabin was charming and linens/dishes were clean and in good repair. Negatives: Quite a bit further from Smithville than I had expected, my fault for not being careful on this account. Wash towels were an interesting touch. Air conditioning was very noisy on top level and had to be turned off so we could tub sleep. Floors were dirty with soil and food crumbs. There were millipedes both upstairs and on main floor, with toddler this was concerning as some got on our feet while we were standing. Tub also had bugs in it. Need to update add for non-existent hot tub. We left wood for next guests as spent most time away from the cabin.
We loved the cabin and how friendly and responsive the host was. Also enjoy the notebook of suggested sites. Bc of that book we enjoyed a great hike to Window Cliffs
