Key West, Florida
Casa Angelina's covered, wrap-around veranda may be the first thing about this property that raises your heart rate above normal, but it won't be the last. Imagine yourself relaxing at the front to catch the street-side activity or cozying up on the side for privacy and shade. Or maybe the picturesque deck and pool area to the rear will beckon you. Whichever, you can't go wrong with this classic, beautifully renovated 1930's three-bedroom, three full bath home located only blocks from the Atlantic, beaches, and ocean-side restaurants.Past the side veranda, a red brick walkway meanders through a forest of tropical foliage, past a secluded picnic table, to the back deck. Here you'll find chairs, table, chaise loungers, and barbecue grill. But the obvious centerpiece is the Monaco-shaped pool reminiscent of those on the French Riviera. Of course it's heated and ultra-private and perfect for a day swim or late night skinny dip. Maybe you'd prefer to just dangle your feet in the teal blue water near the spa jets or hang out in the sunshine to catch some rays. Afterwards, maybe barbecue some black fin tuna or yellow snapper for dinner. The inside of Casa Angelina perfectly complements its gorgeous outdoor areas. The great room is spacious and open and full of ambient light from its multiple windows and French doors draped in billowy translucent fabric. The living area is defined by two couches with throw pillows in tropical colors, some matching, some artistically contradicting the key lime green walls. Flanking the couches are lamps on end tables, coffee table, a wicker arm chair, and art work to add even more contemporary interest. In other words, it's a perfect space for relaxing alone, entertaining friends and family, or watching TV. The great room continues into the dining space defined with table, chairs, bookcase, and more well-chosen wall art. The floors throughout, a highly polished American hardwood, lend warmth and utility.Off the great room are three bedrooms. Each has en suite full baths and, most amazingly, each has doors to a private patio area. The front bedroom has two twin beds, a clothes cabinet, and a rattan chest of drawers. Next to the chest is a glass-paned door to a side patio with table and chairs. Behind a louvered door and matching the blue paint of the bedroom walls is the blue-toned tiled bath with multiple windows. The middle bedroom has a queen bed, chest of drawers, and ample closet space. One wall is a panel of French doors leading to yet another portion of the side patio. On another wall is the door into the second full bath. The spacious master bedroom at the back features a king bed, doors to the pool area on one wall, and doors to the side patio on another. Pull the drapes for privacy or open them to let the beauty of the outside in. There's still plenty of room for a really spacious full bath with glass brick windows and divider. The gourmet kitchen is highlighted by lovely blue onyx countertops, white walls, grooved-wood cabinets, and pebble floor tiles. Windows, shelves, and built-in appliances complete the scene and offer everything you would need to accomplish simple or complex meals. Or maybe you just want to brew a cup in the coffee maker and enjoy it at the breakfast bar as you gaze out the French doors to the pool area. After you've checked out Casa Angelina, unpacked your travel gear, and are ready to venture out, you'll find yourself at the intersection of two convenient corridors. The first is White Street, which runs the fourteen-block width of the island from the Gulf of Mexico to a fishing pier jutting out into the wide Atlantic Ocean. On White, you'll find art galleries, Faustos Food Palace, convenience stores, the Island Gym and yoga studios to name a few. The second corridor is Truman Avenue, which takes you the seven blocks to Duval St, the central artery of entertainment. There you'll find what Key West is famous and infamous for: tours, beaches, museums, Mallory Square at sunset, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants, many with open-air seating, some right on the water. After dark be sure to look for Mr. Chapman riding his neon-adorned tricycle with a big smile on his face and sound system blaring Motown melodies. To know what's going on from day to day, check out Historic Hideaways' informative Events page on our website.
